I am a paying Everquest 1 customer who wants the daily updates you have delivered in the past.
What gives?

Home page now is from the 3rd...I know EQ1 is an old game and low population but Allakhazam became big because of Everquest...I don't think it is unfair to at least up date the home page that used to be done daily to more then once every 11 Days?

... especially when the last news story is horribly dated, mentioning a deadline date long past.

I have learned ask in game, on here and oficial forums 'a closed mouth don't gel feed.' The latest news and Grossip just have to learn how to separate the two.

You're absolutely right but this place has been bought and sold enough times that there's no nostalgia left for the site's roots. The goal seems to be to turn this place into a poor man's IGN or something.

Depressing news. I've always enjoyed posting and reading posts here over EQ's official forums because the people visiting are a lot less likely to flame, grief and just generally behave badly. So few active EQ sites these days; even class sites have very little action in their forums.

Quite depressing...

Ironically, this is one of the most active forums Zam.com has left. Even the WoW forum is mainly dead (ten days since their last post).

That is exactly what has me puzzled. That fact and the blatant way that we have been flat out ignored that has me sad, disappointed and worried about my favorite EQ site.

I would even dare say that of all the EQ related sites that I frequent, this site still has one of the most active forums if not the most active after the official Daybreak-EQ site.

While on some EQ related subject matter, a good answer is more forthcoming here than on the official Daybreak-Forums.

Depressing indeed (as Sippin said earlier)....

Sadly, ZAM's EQ is fading away. I'll miss it very much.

My concern at this point is if the information gets turned off overnight as has happened with some other great EQ sites. There is a ton of info here that is under specific items or quests that isn't always as clear or detailed in some of the newer wiki versions of things. There's also the legacy of the massive playerbase from the early years that was contributing here like mad.

I prefer what allakhazam's has been (mature, helpful, familiar) with information that stays posted in an organized way. Posting on the official boards means watching your thread and hoping you get an answer fast enough. Asking in game... varies greatly (best be in a solid guild).

I suggest any of the regular posters that have done years of work on wiki things, and various lists make sure they have good backups. We may need to all meet again soon somewhere else.

*posting late to this as I have been moving houses and without computer access most of the last 2 months. Missing the Prog server launch is a drag, dropping in to see Zam dropping good staff from the only part of their empire I care about is sad.

I like how they list "spell effects" as if they were spells. And by like, I mean I don't like it at all.

Yeah, my concern too. Frankly, I make posts here as part of a personal memo system so I will be able to find info on some obscure quest, mob or item months later when I need to go back to it. Anything I write down on paper, there's a good chance I'll never find the paper again. Plus I figure if it's useful info for me it's probably useful for some other players so it's win-win. If they ever fold this site the content will probably remain available on the Wayback site (if I understand how it works) but nothing will get added and, yes, we'll need to find a new posting site to keep up with new content and postings. No idea where, though. Beyond EQ's own forums, I know of no active EQ sites. A couple of class sites are fairly active but generally the focus is entirely on the relevant class. EQResource and Magelo are great sites but, again, not sure their forums would serve the purpose, although they might be worth considering, should the need arise. EQR allows comments for their content pages but right now they're not used much at all.

Old-timer that I am, I'm always reminded how active were the forums of one of my old guilds, Shards of Time on Saryrn. I could start a new thread and within hours there'd be dozens of responses, most of them of quality. Most of the guild members regularly visited the site. In fact, I think we made it a requirement to visit every so often or you lost DKP. The idea was that a good guild member kept up with the info posted on the site, particularly strategies and tactics and background for raids and encounters. I don't see anything like this with current guilds, not even serious raiding guilds. And I'm always astonished by large guilds that don't even bother with a website, particularly when it's so easy and cheap to set up a canned website today.

I always loved our old SoT site. I wish the forums were still accessible with so much great information there. As I've started playing with a raiding guild on ragefire, a lot of the strategies and such would be useful as we move through the expansions. Most of that information is much more detailed than what you can find anywhere else.

Howdy, Rayder! I wonder how many old-time SoT members are still playing. Most of the ones I remember have retired. Good to see some "alumni" are still kicking around EQ. You're right, those forums were very active and very useful.
