Good morning ZAM EQ Community,

I am in the process of pulling the last 1-2 people into a pre-made group for the new upcoming progression server, due out in June.

We just had a successful run through 1-50 on live servers, mapping out the best places to level, nameds, drops, which spells we can live without etc.

We're looking for a full time Enchanter and 1 more caster DPS.

Our primary playtime is 7pm to 11pm EST, but we plan on taking the week the server releases off and playing full time.

We use Skype for voice, and will often chat between scheduled play times.

If you are interested please shoot me a message with a little info about yourself (play times, experience, chat capabilities, etc.)

Thanks!

Is the new server official?
As recent as last night I checked the 'not interested' box for about the tenth time.
I hope it is official, just to stop the spampoll.

Thanks for the messages folks, we're full up and are actually thinking of starting a second group for additional leveling testing!

@alwayslost I love a good social interaction, but when someone is trying to develop a conversation or request for information and someone comes into it without any positive input it is commonly referred to as trolling, but thank you for the apology.

Wow! I bet conversations with you in your groups are very stilted and...unnatural....for fear of ...trolling, I guess we all have differing opinions of positive and you are welcome to yours.
Good fun and good luck!

Beware the internets and implied tone in text!

Alwayslost is a great guy. I've been guilded with him at least once. Smiley: lol

I don't read his original post as nasty or even sarcastic, but then I've been around these forums (and him) off and on for a long time.

Loyanna you've got a low post count (but could have been around forever lurking... not everyone is as prolific at posting as Jophiel Smiley: sly), anyways... allakhazam forums --especially this EQ board almost never get personal/grab the popcorn let's all watch. Now that I have said that someone will probably post that they want more drama. Oh well. The asylum on the other hand...

I see no issues with Loyanna's original post. I think it's great you are having success getting players into your vision.

I'm not asking you two to like each other, but could we un-derail this thread into something happier? After all it is spring and Cadbury eggs are available. mmm. Smiley: cookie (I forget how to make an egg so a cookie will suffice)

I'd love an answer to the "is a new progression server verified" question for example.

I do plan to play on the new progression server, and will definitely be playing my favorite class, magician. I'm on a lot, all different times - very flexible. You can PM me or look me up as Romen on Cazic Thule server. I have played EQ since the original game, and love the old zones. I do have Skype, though most of the time when I use voice chat I use Teamspeak (with Overwolf which is a really cool overlay with nice tools for chat and utilities). Most of the old expansions were truly epic in proportion (Kunark, Velious, Luclin, PoP, and even Serpent Spine - all great expansions with lots of content), I'm finding the new expansion (Darkened Sea) to be a bit disappointing with the small cramped zones.

PS I run a website for magicians - eqmagicians.com - which I try to keep current with all the information I can on the magician class.

I never did understand why people would play or play together more specifically on a time locked progression server or let's go there project 99.

You can do the same thing on the live servers yet they would rather power level, use mercs or box. which in my opinion defeats the purpose of playing multi person online game and you miss the opportunity to meet new people and make new potential friend.

I have heard all the reasons, justifications and excuses why people box, power level, use mercs yet never made any sense to me. Yet these same people will play on the other two types of servers. I have been playing eq for about seven years now and I enjoy it.

Yes I use a merc, but will team with a real person any day of the week. Sad to see all this content below level 90+ pretty much dead, all this content yet none in it. My fear is eq next might just kill the orginal eq off, we shall see. If it does kill of the original eq, what will happen to it when it reaches to be 16 years old the same thing....

People play on time locked progression servers for the same reason(s) that you or I would play on a regular server. Entertainment and more specifically, the concentration of people at a given level range that want to enjoy the same content from the timeline of the progression server....this with a lot of people in the relevant zones...closest to how it was back in the halcyon days of EQ.

Try that on a regular server and it is empty 1-85 (hence the p/lvling, boxing etc to get out of that level range asap to where everyone is at which is 95-105 these days).

Heroic Characters which start at 85 and the AA grant has made it so that most returning, new players or alts of veteran players will go that route instead of playing for any length of time for AA gains in the lower levels.

Progression servers have a strong following, I wouldn't underestimate how many love that era of EQ. and you cannot get that feel (at that lower level content of classic EQ) on a regular server at this stage of the game..

Edit: Almost forgot: I never played on a progression server as yet, but I three and two box at times, I group with others regularly-especially on weekends. I solo my Necro, I farm things when plenty Plat is needed to outfit an upcoming alt etc.... I sell in the bazaar.

What I am getting at is that EQ players do not fit into any one category. I may one day join a progression server too as it is all about fun and enjoyment.

I don't know if this is late news to anyone but yes, they have confirmed a new progression server. They are still deciding on the ruleset to use (how long the expansions will take to unlock, etc.) and will have new polls to help flesh out the details. According to a post by Roshen on the official forums, the new polls will be up within a week. So yes, a new progression server has been verified! I know a lot of people have been waiting for this, so congratulations to all those who have eagerly and long awaited this announcement.

Some that play progression servers or progression guilds would give some of the following reasons:

-chance to relive old experiences in a slightly less painful way (i.e., no medding to a book).
-play in old favourite zones with population (Crushbone with 5 groups at level for xp is a totally different feel for example).
-chance to see versions of zones that are no longer on live (this prog round sounds like they've done even more retro-work.)
-The Sleeper isn't awakened.
-loot stuff in era makes it worthwhile [If the progression unlocks aren't super-raced you can be one of the better geared of class X]
-the pre-luclin game is simpler [if you stopped playing before GoD it's a lot easier to come back to a progression server than current live as far as game scope goes]
-the world feels bigger due to the travel, and classes are balanced a lot differently in some cases (this is mitigated by mages and monks being so boosted, but oh well).
-new economy, culture, guilds vs. long established servers
-game balance is different... enchanters can justify mezzing group content for example (there were several years after LDoN where this was not really the case). Most classes need other players again.
-it's a fresh start without a huge population 100 levels above you. (or able to get to modern max in a couple of days like what happened when they launched new regular servers.

-others share some of the above thinking so pick up groups not only happen, but can be fun.
