I've been digging about, and, surprisingingly, not finding any friendly advice for SHDs (DE or otherwise) completing this quest.

I know Sanctus Seru likely isn't the most SHD, let alone DE, friendly place; does anyone know if Aderyn Goldleaf considers them KOS?

If I remember correctly, some simple killing and appropriate illusion can get you enough faction. I don't remember what exactly combo I done it on, but seemed like it was an Ogre or Troll of some sort, maybe one of my Shd Trl. I don't remember but remember getting close to faction and trying an illusion on a toon. Might have even been a different toon, but it gave the slight nudge I needed.

EDIT: I was thinking of the EB item from Katta. You'll have to check it out. Alot of NPCs in SS are on differing factions, so some area / npcs may hate you while others may not like you, but won't attack.

I know many combos have done it before. Maybe doing the killing the Grey for the Enduring Breath item is enough also. Maybe my Iks War was the last toon I did it on. I know I did the EB quest on him.

Any way, just check it out. I think you need indifferent to do the turn ins, so sneaking from behind may be enough to do it. I guess I should of looked it up and read about it again. Just got excited 'cause no one has asked about that in years.

Either way, good luck.

EDIT: Seems like most Sanctus seru factions are pretty easy to raise, simply by slaughtering the though horrors and leeches in the caves in Mons Latalis.

alliance works on them. My enchanter multi-quested this for my little ranger way back in the day.

This means the clicky pendant you get by killing lots of frozen dwarves could be useful. This item occasionally pops up in baz pretty cheap as it's not useful in content beyond Gates of Discord (alliance was "broke" as of GoD or OoW I forget...).

If dark elfishness matters than use an illusion human potion. (My enchanter was a dark elf of Inny, but I may have illusioned when I did it).

Trying to zone in to Sanctus Seru as a DE SHD gets aggro from guards -- there's about a 1 second delay after appearing and they start running. Last I played, illusions drop with zoning unless something has changed.

Ran a Drakkin Mage and Wood Elf Druid up to his room -- tried a quick Harmony and apparently that's blocked in the zone as the spell progress bar doesn't complete and there's a failure message. CotH invised DE SHD from zone line, dropped invis -- bam dead. Annulled Magic on Goldleaf and let him beat on Mage to keep him occupied and rezzed SHD. Tried to do hand in and couldn't get item box to pop -- tried Hiding and doing turn in, same result.

There's likely a way to do it with FD but at lvl 2 that's not happening.

To get past the entry guards, simply invis to get past most and doesn't drop on zoning, unless you really unlucky. Get a no drop AA invis from someone and you won't have to worry about it dropping at all. Just someone seeing through it.

EDIT: Hide doesn't work for any. Only Sneak, has to be successful by /con-ing from behind and getting and indifferent faction. Then still, it's not guaranteed to work, but does on many old world npcs. Invis won't work either, 'cept when buying from DoN merchants. They don't drop invis automatically when interacting with them.

Did you happen to check you faction? If you have higher level toons that can keep aggro, you could do 1 or more damage to some easier (still won't be easy to a 2nd level for sure) mobs in Mons Seru for some faction.

Didn't realize you were trying to do this with a 2nd level toon, which puts some kinks into the ease of fixing the faction problems, but it is still doable.

Huh. Yeah. Level 2 is tricky. Heck. It's tricky just to be level 2. Doesn't sneezing in EQ give you like 3 levels or something?

Pretty much -- I've been twinking this guy, got a level just doing a quest hand in, otherwise would still be lvl1. :-D

Yup. Have Cloud pots and an 85 Druid -- but by Mage's CotH has a much lower pucker factor. :-)

Yup, I didn't think invis hand-ins would work. Thanks for confirming it because I likely would go back and try it. :-)

Scowling. Yes, I have an 85 Druid and an 85 Mage. I was hoping I could just sponge faction, but if it takes at least a point of damage, maybe I'll work on my bow skills while they're AOE'ing Recusos -- If memory serves they're the prime faction mobs for SS.

Sorry, yes, this is a baby twink right now -- loaded up with some of the best drops from Luclin outside of VT.

Appreciate the input, as always.
