I'm currently working on my first real Monk char. I say real because I have played Monks before but only to the mid twenties. My question is: Which skills should I make sure are always level capped? I make sure Feign Death always is, but with the multitude of others, I'm having trouble keeping them all capped. Which would you folks consider the most important?

Just keep flying kick and FD maxed out. The others (for the most part) will take care of themselves once you start getting AA's. Specifically the Technique of Wu line.

Level by level: fight one hand 1hb and the other h2h. Fastest one in primary, of course. Switch to 2hb when they max.

Do nothing but flying kick once you get it until you max it and get max Wu's AAs as soon as you earn enough to get them. Wu's AA's trigger a chance that any/all other "ninja" attacks will also go off, making skilling them effortless.

Tail rake (if Iksar) is good to have maxed as it is your (almost only) spell-stopping knock-back possibility (I'm sure humans and Drakins have a skill that does that, but my Monk is an Iksar and doesn't know what those soft-skins call the skill that provides the knock-back). {{If you put an "stunning" aug in your primary, then you can skip maxing tail rake}}.EDIT: DON"T use weapon with stun if someone else is tanking!!!!!!!!!!!!You will agro the mob, which I guarantee will agro the Tank, if you know what I am saying.Smiley: tongue

And yeah, if you are online and not actively doing anything else, hit FD and mend every time they pop up. Boring, but you will be glad you did. EDIT: (Don't hit Mend ANYPLACE you could be hit by or agro a mob as failing will CAUSE HP loss).

Some monks will set an macro that says to fish-wait x time-auto inventory-fd-get up-repeat. Kills 2 boring birds with one click.Smiley: schooled

Thanks, my Monk is an Iksar. I am almost level capped now for FD, but Mend, even though I click on it every time the button refreshes, is only half way there. I will concentrate on the skills mentioned above!!!

Wu´s no longer triggers all attacks. If you use fliyng kick you get 1-3 extra flying kicks etc.
Once your mend skill is 100 it works every time. If you have some training points left got to your Guildmaster and train mend, Cause it takes some time ( 6 minute reuse ) and can fail and drop HP by 25%.

Tiger Claw and Flying Kick are now on different timers so make a hotkey for both of those.

As you level always press:

Flying Kick
Tiger Claw
Feign Death
Mend

Raise skills:

H2H
1HB
2HB

Non-Iksar knock-back is Dragon Punch.

You're welcome!

For Monk 2hb I can't recommend this guy enough Bamboo Bo Stick -- it's a terrific trainer, but in the hands of a Monk it's a viable weapon through the early 50s with a lifetap aug. After that I'd call it a good trainer.
