I have my DE Necro and my Vah Shir Beasty able to travel around Cabilis at will. Now, I want my Iksar Monk to be able to do the same in Freeport and Qeynos. I have never done this before. How difficult will this be compared to getting Cabilis faction? OR, any other suggestions to make getting his Epic 1.0 easier.

It's doable.

Once upon a time there was an Iksar player legendary for doing all the faction work. This was in Kunark era of the live game. His name was very iksar-ish (Ssnakes, or something like that). He made a guide... and would email it to people that contacted him. I know this as I got the guide from him shortly after TSS went live and he was amazed people still wanted it (as he hadn't played EQ in years at that point).

Then like a dummy I didn't save that guide or info.

If anyone has it... they should put it on the wiki and give the guy credit. What he did was amazing in the context of the game at the time.

Qeynos factions you kill gnolls by the thousands. There are quests too... but if you are high enough level to just annihilate Blackburrow it might be more worthwhile to just put in your days there.

Look up stuff on the faction pages in the beastiary though, where you can search by faction. Example: Corrupt Qeynos Guards

Some people like to let their merc kill a small set of faction mobs for days... this bends the original intent of AFK, but on the official boards they've repeatable basically said "afk merc killing isn't an exploit. we have bigger fish to fry". On the O-boards the threads usually come up from someone doing it in a desirable spot for xp rather than an out-of the way goblin camp in Warslik's for faction though.

If you are above level 50 you can use the evil eye shroud that has charm as an ability to "cheat" some quests requiring a hand in. Works for the worker sledgemallet for example. Puppet strings was the older way of trying this. One of the original appeals of the enchanter class...

If you want to act like an enchanter without the charming and make a faction like you more you can dabble with ornate velium pendant . Since they broke the alliance line of spells sometime around omens of war... this cool item is only useful doing content that predates that change. [which is home city faction and epic 1.0 as you talk of]

Also remember to look up quests in the cities you want faction in. Most of the time there is something like the red wine quest for Neriak, or bone chip for Cabilis that lets you power up a lot of factions "faster". What was nice about the guide I mentioned at the top is this guy had figured out the order to do these things in to avoid repeat effort (as some old factions intertwine).

Good luck and have fun.

Getting faction for human cities is always a mess, because there's the main city part and the corrupt part. When I did the monk epic as an iksar I just sneak and feign deathed through it all since it was such a mess, nowdays there are tasks like "The Great Caiman Issue" that give positive faction to both sides instead of having to trade one faction for the other.

It's pretty time consuming, so if you don't want to do that you can just kill Brother Qwinn in South Karana to get his robe of the lost circle.

Its nice to still see some folks wanting to do things the old way, and keep playing in the old zones I love it. I did a little searching, while i couldnt find the guide Snailish was talking about, I skimmed through this one and it seems decent. Good luck!!

Anezka's Faction Guide
Or How the Turkey got some lovin'...

I was going to reference this. Rukkuss beat me. I have it in my "Favorites" list and I love it. (Pictures show the iksar Inezka cozying up to citizens in various cities.) In checking, I see that access from my saved link is only by the Wayback Machine now. Rukkuss' link goes directly to the Wayback.

Thanks to everyone who offered ideas!! Much appreciated!! Rather than tool around on my old toon, I rolled up a new Ikky Monkey on my main server (Tunare/Seventh) and had an old time Kunark riot this past weekend. Memories, aren't they fun!

You know, I don't know a similar faction method to the Bloodgill Steel Weapons for human cities. And, while that quest doesn't hit the Necro guild faction, it hits all other factions. Since they now show the faction increase, that's a 20 point faction increase to all Iksar factions (except Necro) and NO decreases/hits to other city factions. Didn't take long at all for my Vah Shir Beastie to be best buds with the Cabalis folks. I know of no similar rate of return for humans, and thus, must conclude nope. :-)

I spent a lot of time doing the quests for cabilis faction twice. Once on my dark elf SK for Greenmist and once on my barb shaman for the cudgel. Man that sucked. Turned in thousands and thousands and thousands of bone chips.

I'm getting ready to take that route with my DE SK for Greenmist -- any advice other than Tylenol for my wrist and beer for my patience?

Hand in 4 stacks of 100 bone chips at a time, to quicken the pace.

yeah the recent change (back) to allow monster stack handing in for quests really helps with these ones (i.e., ones that use bone chips or something big-stackable).

I did it before they changed that. So 4 at a time, unstacked. Rinse and repeat 2000 times.

Yea same here, but Tunare worshipping Wood Elf Ranger still had some problems with some of the factions. For the most, I can wonder anywhere but Shd / Nec areas, but it was taking so long, I made an Iksar on another server and leveled him up. I've heard the bone chips is broken once you max out one of the factions, which the Ranger was after 1000 or so turn ins (x4) from slaughtering other stuff (most everything in WW, LoIO, EJ, FV, etc.).

Same here. My Drakkin Necro killed the bandit lord camp enough times to be able to do the bone chip hand ins while Iksar illusioned. This was not an evening's work by any means.

As a necro I had the advantage of the skullcap questline which quickly (in comparison) raises the necro guild faction (not on the bone chip quest faction table).

Let's not forget that back in the day, bone chips were not vendor purchaseable. Yay! Good times...

Yeah. Necro "meat to bone" AA was one workaround to this. Pretty sure I used vendor meat from Thurgadin by the stackful. That wasn't that fast either...

I did it on the progression servers when it was more or less in era, so those zones were not available yet. I had to farm them or buy in the bazaar.

A belated "Thank You!" Bijou.

Man, I've been back playing a little over a year and I knew things had changed, but it never ceases to amaze me when something like vendor sold bone chips and stack turn-in amounts -- TY Yther and Snailish and Gbaji -- turns up.
