Servers Down?Follow

#1 Jul 15 2014 at 4:11 AM Rating: Default
I evacced my group around 5:40 EST 7/15/14 and got stuck in zone, as did they. The EQ website won't load, the login server won't log me in on any account and pops up a box that says its either my connection or there is scheduled maintenance. However, I can't load the maintenance page to check down times because all of the EQ websites are down and my internet is clearly working.

tl;dr Are the servers down?

That might have been my group. The same thing happened to me.

Yea it was our group. I know your Cleric's name. They must be down if its both of us. Patcher doesn't work, login doesn't work, websites don't work. The only maintenance record I can find is that EQ 2 is coming down around 10am EST today. Nothing about EQ1. Shrug. Hopefully it will be working when I wake up.

Neither my husband or myself can log in either. I went to check SOE and it appears all of their websites are down too. Odd.

The hamster must have died. Oh well. At least I know it's not just me or that my evac was akin to the Doom of old Valyria and ruined everyone's play time. I wager it should be back up in a few hours at most. Thanks for the replies.

Hopefully it's not another attack on Sony like before. With weeks of no game and hardly any timely updates to let us know when the problems would be resolved...

Same here, black box only. I can ping everquest.com and tracert to them, but the routes are very strange, Seems to bounce around in Texas for some reason. I'm in Canada and the route is usually Chicago, Las Vegas then on to San Diego....

Weeks?? Oh my god. I pray to newborn sweet baby Jesus that is not the case. I just got back playing seriously, that would without a doubt cull my momentum. :(

We are in the process of researching this issue, but it looks like the domain registration for the domain SonyOnline.net expired this morning, reverting back to being the property of NetworkSolutions.

It seems plausible that the expiration notices from NetworkSolutions have been going to an unread e-mail address at SOE for the last few weeks and NS finally decided to reclaim this one.

Smiley: lol Must be the same address petitions go to lately!

Wow, how do you let your domain expire when your on such a large scale? Total fail and let down for the people trying to log in this morning, only to find this out. Double exp weekend anyone?

Update:

"As of about 10 minutes ago, NetworkSolutions.com is reporting Sony Online Entertainment owns SonyOnline.net again. SOE websites and games should start resolving properly for all customers around the world over the next few minutes/hours."

UPDATE: As of about 6:05am PDT, NetworkSolutions.com is reporting Sony Online Entertainment owns SonyOnline.net again. SOE websites and games should start resolving properly for all customers around the world over the next few minutes/hours.

To refresh your DNS info, go to the Start menu, choose “Run…”. Type ipconfig /flushdns. Now relaunch your web browser and/or game launchpads.

Per EQ2 WIRE

haha, still have black rectangle for me

If they know how to set up an internal network, hehe

Homeland Security could be putting in more sophisticated software / hardware to keep track of negative comments towards the regime too. Hard to believe SoE would forget about their IPs. You know, to cover the monitoring shortfalls of the National Shame Agency.

As much as I dislike Google's politics and social agenda I am using their DNS servers with success. Google DNS 8.8.4.4 and 8.8.8.8 in router. Was using OpenDNS freebie numbers 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. Yay GOOOGLE ! ......for a couple minutes anyway ) DonBayne pointed me in Google DNS direction below

It could take up to 72 hours for the correct DNS entries to replicate to your ISP. YMMV.

Socket 11001 is what I get on all three of my computers. I had rebooted all my internet tech just to make sure and have been looking online for any messages. Im glad I found this forum with folks having similar issues.

if it is so....I bet the price on that domain just went up.....as I said before, SoE sure has their head up their butt for being such a major corp. Just think how successful they would be if they had just half their crap together?
