So how important are augs at end game?Follow

I boosted my 80 Paladin to 85 along with max AA, and created a 85 shammy on my alt account. I've since let them lapse to Silver status, and last time I logged in, most of the pally's gear was purple, most of which is due to Prestige augments. Fortunately she isn't wearing cultural armor or she'd REALLY be in trouble, but still, I'm worried that the loss of, off the top of my head, at LEAST 12 augs of 20 or greater AC, will be a serious detriment to her tanking ability.
What do you guys think? If she lost 12 20-ac augs, that's 240 AC plus heroic stats, maybe not a lot, but considering that AC augs are very important for tank classes, I'm worried she will under perform in at-level content.

On the plus side if you do some research there are some non prestige AC augs out there. If you took the heroic boost you can do HOT quests (dream feerott and courtyard). The quests in those two zones give pretty nice non-prestige augs. As a plate class they give you 30 armor, some hitpoints, and heroic dex or agi. If you do the quest with the froglok near the spell vender he gives a 6 damage weapon aug AND a shield aug. IF you do all the quests for the erudite just inside the house in courtyard one of those augs fits in your charm. I think all the quests offer augs for various slots but the charm, weapon, and shield really stood out IMO as its hard to fill those slots anyways.

There are also some decent augs that drop in current and even the previous hotzones. You might look them up and try and farm them as they are not prestige either.

I have a 92 SK and I think only 1 or 2 of my augs are priestage.

Since it sounds like you made your Paladin a heroic character you absolutely should do the Heroic Aug quests in Feerot and House of Thule.

Those augs will be enough to get you to 100, and being non prestige are actually VERY valuable to keep if you ever go gold then back to silver. I believe those quest augs cover every slot except 2, for the last 2 slots get the 26AC non prestige augs from valley of lunanyn and Kaesora library.

Two other non prestige quest options are 28 ac Udumbara(sp?) and 32 AC Bayles Heraldic crest.

As far as non prestige gear goes: those augs in full T1 Cotf and you'd be pretty stout at 100, not maxing your AAs though... that's a different story.
