Those are nice, but rare. 8 hours recast time, too. I wonder if the recast timer affects all 3 at once. Are their timers linked? Anyone know for sure?

Rarity along with excellent ratio and HPs on a first level item. Personally I don't value rarity that high, but look I sold Deluxe Sewing Kits for 1KP, when I could of probably gotten 10-100K out of them back in the day before Velious came out (and even after, 'cause many people didn't know about deluxe toolboxes until PoP).

Anyway, lots of no longer drop items go for multi-millions of platinum. It's like an auction, it's all about what the highest price someone will give for an item that determines it's value, nothing intrinsic about the item itself.

EDIT: Plus the prestige of owning such a rare item.

Not to derail, but I'm always amazed how much illusion clickies go for at least on FV where they're all tradeable. But maybe that's because one of my alts is an enchanter who can project illusions on any of other toons!

I've been dorking about in Dulak's and found this quest:

http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=2393

And, if you have the right faction/bag of tricks/etc there's an evil version that'll get you the same items but with a different name thus avoiding lore tag

http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=2394

While the rewards aren't 1337 by any stretch, they are usable from the get go and can be MQ'd.

I did that quest back during PoP and had a blast. The Skelly pet swarm on the weapon choice was great. Useful items back then for quite a long time and made some DKP spending choices much easier. Hated to upgrade all the slots past usefulness.

Fun to watch your work on the bard.

Did you earn any AA off of the progression? Not really a big deal, but makes your level 1 seem really impressive with a handful of AAs -- too bad you couldn't spend them to get the AA titles too, if you got them banked.

They're granted for progression though, and that's what I was wondering about. Not earned for progression, unless you over 50 and putting exp into AA. Completing the PoP progression grants AAs for each one. My first AA was from PoJ trial completion.

EDIT: Gran Dunnar has no time for a 48 level with PoJ flag. Will try again at 51.

Hi Yther I have not gotten any aa's as a result of completing the flags, I think this is due to the fact you cant request the intricate wooden figurine from story time quest. I believe when the figurine updated with the flags is when you get the aa's

ok I just came up with an insane idea let me get an opinion on this.
Since im just about done twinking this lvl 1 and im going to find myself saying "now what ? "
What do you guys think if I made 6 of these level 1 super twinks and made a group and tried to take down Nagafen Rofl ???
Do you guys think this is possible? I know it would probably take a very looong to kill him im just not sure if his regeneration rate would be faster than the total damage output of level 1's

give me some input if you think this is possible

I would think it would be very difficult and very long if possible, with six level 1's even if all are fully twinked out for a number of reasons.

That boss was a real challenge for a group of 6 high-40's to level 50ish characters, the one time I did it years ago. Though it was before the defiant era, and most of us in the group were poorly geared, relative to what a character today in easily obtainable defiant gear's stats would be at.

Imho, the level 1's may find it hard and too rare to get a melee shot to land on Lord Nagafen while when he casts the AE fear it should certainly land on the level 1's and the AE dispel with the direct damage effect would take a noticeable chunk out of those level 1's engaged in melee or any level 1 castor/priest in the group that are hit. Meanwhile the level 1's will get virtually none of their detrimental damage spells to land on Lord Nagafen because of their extreme level handicap vs Lord Nagafen's level. Maybe a twinked-pet strong group with hi level Mage gear and weapons on the pets could do it the easiest imo.

I'd think it would be extremely long if possible or not possible with level 1 group other than a, hi level mage twinked-pet heavy group , but then there are the probable adds which can make the situation worse.

I may be wrong, but Good Luck and Enjoy...and please let us know whether victorious or not ! That would be some story to tell and hear Smiley: smile

I agree it's very unlikely due to the resists arising from level differences altho if the 6 twinks were all equipped with Mace of the Ancients the swarm pets might do some significant damage.

In reality I doubt if a raid full of twinked out level 1's could take down a high-regen dragon.

That "Mace Of The Ancients" weapon is really nice for that purpose. I never knew its swarm pet effect could proc at lvl 1....wow !

That's what I love about this vast game, new things are learned no matter how experienced, old and cranky I get.

Okay? Honestly? Some of seriously think taking over a camp for months on end to fuel your pitiful level 1 ' twink ' is nothing more than brilliance really need an EQ eval... I camped Umbral and Acrylia for 5 - 7 spawn cycles and was feeling guilty; on Zek, a near dead server, I've yet to fight Seru; my guess it's creeps like you infesting the waters, taking him down via timetables, to appease some cut / paste protege lovechild of yours; all for some beast, godly Ytt gear. Snobs.

To come back after a decade, I played what I knew (but won't MMO anymore without PvP) to end-game. Still a fan, I've boxed a bard, that I leveled with defiant just fine. Bard's grouping with my necro, but deff in my so-called **** stage (75-ish+) since DH HAs and dailies are all she wrote.
Made a warrior, still Lv.1, but near endless $,
So,
Blade of Carnage : 15/20 , +100 hp
Horn of Hsaga: 13/20 , +75hp
Sarnak Battle shield
Fungi
Belt of Great Turtle
Cloak of Maelstrom: +55hp
Chardok wrists +8sta & Umbral wrists +15 sta
BEST +hp Ear / Ring in zar (trio rings are annoying, non-tradable, and have level caps)
Coif of M(something [Zlandicar]): +75hp
Nathsar Legs (good +hp), and Arms (s#!&ty except priest classes)
and
Rest from Luclin NO DROP items I camped
...at Lv 3, he's pretty beast at almost 1k hp
...I'd like better. But if it means permacamping Seru like a troll, I'm good.... Although, Any of you trolls on Zek reading this, I'd like showing up just once to down him and see what he drops

Wow dude, you're really dumb to rage that a mob who drops awesome gear, a sweet mount, and a legendary trinket is permacamoed. If you think anyone feels bad for a guy with more Plat than brains you came to the wrong site. It's the Plat farmers that are "ruining" our game. Daybreak could easily make all rare mobs spawn every 5 minutes but choose not to. So hate the game not the players.

It is unfortunate, however, that such mobs are perma-camped by those for whom it all comes down to making plat. It takes away some of the most fun experiences for the average player. I think I was in a raid that took down Lord Seru twice in all my years in EQ and the fights were a blast. I can remember for one of them we lost half the raid force and the rest were almost all OOM before we could finish him off. That's the kind of pulse-pounding excitement that's almost impossible to experience today with the Care Bear approach even "modern" EQ takes with its players. I'm not going to bother to list possible solutions since they always get shot down by someone. But I will lament the fact that these kind of named bosses seem to exist only to allow pharmers to pad their plat bank accounts---and for many of them their RL bank accounts. It should NOT be so.

so, don't honor the camp? Just be able to kill the mob first.

Seriously, if the guy is permacamping, he's not going to report you. If he does, they won't punish you, they can see from the logs that they are perma-campers.

There is nothing really to report. There are no camps in EQ. It's always been that way. The rule that GM's used to enforce is that the first force damaging the mob---and having the capability of killing it---gets first shot at fighting it. But I doubt DBG enforces that now since they seem to enforce nothing that can't be handled by automated processes.

The problem with jumping the camp on a rare named is being able to get the first hit. Some pharmers use illegal add-ons that alert them the moment a rare mob spawns. I believe it can even send them a text alert to a smart phone! So ordinary players have to camp for hours, relying on any time info known since the last spawn, with a force of sufficient power to slay the named quickly when it spawns. Pharmers either have their alt/bot squadrons already there or ready to log in the moment the alert is received.

I don't think EQ requires the first hit, you just have to do more damage. EQ2, on the other hand, does lock the mob once it's engaged.

Assuming it's older content, and not dangerous, just get a 6-pack of wizzies, bind one nearby, and when the mob spawns, teleport to bind the whole group in, and zap it. Agreed, though, knowing when it will spawn is the hard part.
