So a friend of mine told me that a warrior with a shield/bash is better then a warrior w/ duel weld. Is this true?

There was a short time where the AA that increased war damage whith sword and board was broken and it was pretty easy to do 6k dps at l90 with group gear. They have since fixed that AA. So now for dps dual wield is better and for survival shield is better. Agro generation is basically the same

By the way, this was when a warrior had all of the correct AA. For the sword and board, it required levels of Shield Specialist and Improved Shield Specialist. Some of these aren't even available until level 86+.

You didn't state your level or AA count, but I just wanted to get it out there that it was more AA related than simply dual wield vs. S+B.

i have a lvl 71 warrior with 21AA. I'm going to be stopping to rack up my AA to 1000 before i start leveling again.

What should i concentrate on?

Hello,
The list of important AA's for a warrior is long so to save time I have a link to the relevant thread on the warrior class site : http://www.thesteelwarrior.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16210

Good luck and enjoy.

I don't know that you will need 1000 AA at lvl 71. MY warrior is 71 and I have 470ish AA now. I have defense AA maxed minus those 5 aa for 100hp abilties. Fury is maxed, veterans wrath is maxed, planar power is maxed. Im about 3/4th of the way through strike through, flurry, and weapon affinity. I am to the point now there isn't alot to choose from that doesn't require higher lvl. Im starting to shift back towards leveling now.

From the Steel Warrior: http://www.thesteelwarrior.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16210

This is a bit outdated, but should provide you a great start.

I would use the guide with the following points:

Skip the resists.
At level 71 with the quality of gear out there, I'd skip the +hp AA for now, concentrate on DPS and Defense. Back when a warrior was 10k hp buffed, the added 100 HP from an AA was worth something.

It's not that you really need 1000AA at 71 as a warrior, it's that you need to earn those AA before you get too high level to find light blue old world mobs. This is assuming that you are going to be mostly soloing or moloing. If you box one or more characters, or if you have a really consistent grouping situation with guild members or friends, it might not matter as much to you.

If you level to, let's say, 80 or so with minimal AA, it's going to be a lot more annoying to kill the mobs that you need to kill to get AA fast. Not impossible, just annoying...and slower.

I went pure DPS AA (bypassing even things like CA/CS) until about 500-600AA. At that time, I was able to mow through light blue Luclin mobs without using a merc, and was earning really nice aaxp. Once you hit this point, you can earn your defensive AAs a lot faster.

Around 1000AA, you should have pretty much every DPS and tanking AA maxed for level. Then it's time to level up, picking up AA abilities that you unlock as you level (both ones you had maxed out, and new ones you didn't have access to before). I'm finding that I only need somewhere around 50AA per level to stay maxed in everything that is even remotely useful for a warrior.
