Question about BagsFollow

#1 Mar 29 2012 at 2:00 AM Rating: Decent
I am a return player and the best bag I left EQ was Bag of Tinkerer (100% weight reduction, 10 slots) from merchant at Sol A. What is the current standard? If I am just looking for large slot number regardless of weight reduction, what is the cheapest option please? Thx.

As far as my research goes still the best NPC merchant buyable bag is the Bag of the Tinkers (5250p) https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=2366

Biggest Crafted bag is the Tailored Legendary Bag 14 slot (Series of different bags please search Allakhazam under Legendary to find all the different kinds of bags) https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=92245 which you need to travel into the neighborhood’s round building to purchase, with plat from Garik Nogflop, the needed elements to craft. Once booked purchased and scribed “Garik’s Secrets of Bag Expansion” the rest of the items can be purchased in bazaar. The basic bag to increase to the size is the Unexpanded Tailored Legendary Bag (12 slots) https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=92353 also there are unexpanded style packs too. Sometime you can find a Nice crafter that sells these in Bazaar. On Zek average price varies from 7-10k. But please link to find out items needed to craft.

The Journeyman’s Pocketed Rucksack https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=97399 32 slots was a reward for the early purchase of, I believe, HoT expansion. Now SoE runs them on Special in the “Marketplace” for 2500 sc. Price goes down if bought in packages. Note: only on sale for a very short periods of time. The Scuffed Journeyman’s Pocketed Rucksack https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=97711 is biggest that is dropped 32 slot. Also 28 size droppable and can be purchase too from “Marketplace” on those rare occasions.

See this thread: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=1&mid=1274313531160609034&page=1 And near the last post has the >10 slot bags listed, although not all, as I haven't updated it for a while.

EDIT: Updated wiki page at https://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/EQ:Items_Containers

Many thanks. I am a return player (silver member) at Tunare and I checked the price for an unexpanded 12 slots bag is around 1k pp. I just wonder whether my understanding is correct that: (1) I have to go to NPC Garik and buy “Garik’s Secrets of Bag Expansion” from him. (2) somehow I need to "scribe" the content of “Garik’s Secrets of Bag Expansion” to my char (I guess that is a right click? Any tradeskill required?) (3) Then I need to go bazaar and buy an unexpanded bag (4) Then I could "expand" the unexpanded bag (becoming attuned?) for using it.

I know I should try the above out myself but 1k pp is too expensive as an experiment to a return player like me at the moment. Any further advice is appreciated. Thanks!

You can make the packs in Any Loom. Any the following I know can be bought From Garik Nogflop [The Master Collector] in the neighborhoods and saw them in Bazaar on Merchant Dashelo Dalroshan
(Tailoring, 524 trivial) + plus the drop items needed
A Tailored Backpack Pattern 1pp 4sp 9cp
A Tailored Bag Pattern 1pp 4sp 9cp
A Tailored Belt Pouch Pattern 1pp 4sp 9cp
A Tailored Haversack Pattern 1pp 4sp 9cp
A Tailored Pack Pattern 1pp 4sp 9cp
A Tailored Rucksack Pattern 1pp 4sp 9cp
A Tailored Sack Pattern 1pp 4sp 9cp
A Tailored Satchel Pattern 1pp 4sp 9cp
A Tailored Tool Belt Pattern 1pp 4sp 9cp
You can only buy Garik's Secrets of Bag Expansion 31pp 4gp 9sp 9cp From Garik Nogflop and have to scribe this to expand the above bags.
To expand the packs from 12 to 14 slot you need Abu-Kar's Arcane Solution 2624pp 9gp 9sp 9cp which I saw on the Bazaar Vendor also.
The expansion can be done Trivial at 15 but I have yet to see it fail and I have expanded a ton of bags.

The larger bags will be on sale in the market place starting on April 1st (or there abouts. I think that's the date I read.)

I've done this quest with a good-allied character and it was long but extremely easy. I noticed some of the quest NPCs are quite close to class trainers/guild masters. Guards aside, do these trainers / bankers no longer aggro at all? They would be red /con, scowling to my dark elf otherwise. And regarding something said in another thread - can I bank while low level guards are attacking me (out of curiousity).

GM don't attack any more. Most guards still do however. Last I checked, you could be attacked, but as long as the Banker wasn't under attack (Not sure if AEs affect the combat status of bankers or not) you could bank. With the change of Bankers not attacking, they should be ok all the time, unless, and I'm not 100% sure on this, they hit with an AE. Also, I'm not sure if even when I tried this, if you could initiate a banking transaction while being attacked, but if attacked after starting one, it wouldn't close.

I'm thinking, since you can't start a banking transaction now, with the spell book open, but you can start one and open the spell book after starting it, that being under attack prior to starting a transaction will prevent you from doing so. Again, not 100% sure.

I am 100% sure about GMs not attacking though. I spent alot of time in Neriak testing it out. Pretty much nothing but Guards, Rats, and a few other things were attackable there, and none that you couldn't attack would attack you. Not like the old days, where if you accidentally hailed a GM not of your class twice, that didn't particularly like you, would kill ya. Smiley: tongue

EDIT: Yther's been KoS to Kelethin Rangers for years, and they never attack, other than the butterfly NPC if I sit or med; None of the merchants nor GMs. Now, I just leave the building before I mem spells or Camo first.

That's excellent news, Yther. I was once killed by the druid GM at the north karana druid circle because a bear attacked me. I'll give that 20 slot bag a shot this weekend and report back. I'd still rather get my gear in-game than buy 20 slot bags with SC even if they are on sale (old habits are hard to break).

Thanks!

I finished this with my 65 SK tonight. I have pretty good faction in many cities, but there were still KOS factions in Rivervale, Erudin, Ak'Anon, Felwithe, Halas, and Kelethin. The only places I got aggro was Halas (the McMarrin's definitely don't like me) and in Ak'Anon where pretty much nothing likes me. In both cases, the GM's didn't aggro - only mobs that were grey-con.

As a humorous aside, I don't think I had been in Ak'Anon before and the message I got when they attacked was "Click. Tick. City Violation. Code 5150. This unit is authorized to execute punishment. Please stand still. Thank you."

My route was as follows, in case this helps anyone else to streamline this group of deliveries:

GL Magus to S. Ro > Inothule > Feerott > Freeport [deliver 2, pickup 2] > Nektulos > Rivervale > Highpass [deliver 1, pickup 2] > West Karana > Surefall > Halas > (everfrost PoK book) > Erudin > Qeynos [deliver 5, pickup 1] > Highpass [deliver 1] > Freeport [deliver 3, (can stop here and resume later, picking up the Freeport mail for Kelethin again)] > Butcherblock > Kaladim > Ak'Anon > Felwithe > Kelethin [deliver 5, pickup 1] > Freeport [deliver 1, finish]

I ran most of it rather than porting, PoKing. It was fun to see the old zones, despite some of the revamps. It was also sad that they were still empty of players. Everyone leveling is in the TSS zones these days, clearly as intended. It is easy to forget how long the ramp from Highpass to East Karana still is - and even harder to imagine running that without even a SoW.

I just want to say one thing.

Given my weakness for doing quests that have useful rewards, that link upthread....given the number of characters I have who could use that.

You people are evil to the core.

Um, could you tell me which bag is $8? All I see are $25/$22/$18. Or are you talking about the Wal-Mart trick?

I am sorely tempted to get the 4-pack of 32-slotters ($75) but this is one of those times when having a ton of characters helps me. I'd have to decide who gets the 4-pack and knowing me, I'd say ***** it and get it for all of 'em. All or nothing and (right now, at least) I'm choosing nothing.

Whoops, typo!

Still, even at $8 its insane pricing $18 is just wtf. I dont know about you guys but if i went to my wife and said "I spent $20 to buy a bag so my character can hold more crap" i probably wouldnt be married long.

That would depend. Is your wife wearing things with names like Jimmy Choo or Christian Louboutin or even Coach or Chanel? Heck, does she have things in her closet with the tags still on 'em? How many pairs of shoes does she own? Smiley: tongue Are you paying for 300 cable channels when you only watch a dozen of 'em (if that)? Do you drive a vehicle because you like it not because of how little gas it consumes? We "waste" money in all facets of life. I guess I just don't see why focusing on one over any of the others is necessary. As long as everything's taken care of and you're not missing any meals, what's the big deal? Then again, it's probably why I'm not married. GF says "Why should I care? It's your money, do with it what you want." but maybe that script gets flipped when the 'your' becomes 'our' (I'm told it does).

Yeah, my problem is one of restraint (or lack thereof). And I really don't want to spend that kinda cash knowing that EQ doesn't really have its hooks in me like it did at one time.

HAHA you just listed off 3/4 of our arguments lately. I agree with you 100% if she can buy $100 bras from victorias secret why should it matter what i spend but the reality is shes still a woman.

The 32-slot bags are indeed expensive but very nice to have.

Back when Sony was having a triple your SC deal (even better when you use Walmart SC cards with their +500 SC bonus) you could end up paying under four bucks per bag. Yeah, it's crazy to spend that much on a virtual item but like I said they're darn nice. I stocked up on my main and, I tell you all, I do the master looting and I "never" run out of space.

The problem I have now is LOCATING individual items IN my bags! It's like I'm wandering around carrying my entire bank storage capacity on my person! ;)

The quest for the bag was rather easy, once I figured out that the letters and bags to deliver are not LORE.

The tax quest takes 30 mins, maybe.

I had problems with faction in Qeynos (don't know how I screwed it, but oh well). But my way around it was to sneak behind anyone that wouldn't talk to me.

My suggestion for doing the Courier quests is to do everything but the main cities first, so when you get to the main city you can turn in all the deliveries at once.

Also, you can use the Find (ctrl+F) to make a path to almost all of these npc's.

FYI, there are faction potions on the loyaty vendor that will reset your faction to whatever it was when you started.

Thanks, that is really good to know in case something like that ever gets me stuck.

I just did it the old school way though: sneak, stand behind, dialog, stand behind, dialog, etc.

But only us "sneaky" classes can do it that way. =-)

So, on a whim, I bought the 2-pack of the journeyman rucksack for my GM poisoncrafter and OMG! She can hold one stack of ALL her poison components in ONE bag (frees up THREE tink bags). I've got 11 gamecards left and I might get that five pack for the SK (the usual master looter) and maybe a cleric or shaman. I like how they made it an heirloom, like someone's going to hand it off to an alt before they come out with 50-slot bags or something.
