So is level 80 a requirement to be able to go back to McKenzie's Golden Era? Was all excited to give it a try, I miss the old days, but most of my chars are in the 60-70 range, as I recently returned to give EQ another try after 4 years gone. All I get from him is "you do not meet the requirements for a shared task" but that seems unclear if it's level related or because I was not in a group. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I was one of the first in and around this, it was exciting figuring it all out for a change, rather than seeing the high end raiding guilds seeing stuff first hehe.

Here's what I know.

There are 2 Group Tasks (Naggy / LGuk) and 2 Raid (Naggy / Vox) available.

Below is true for Group tasks, haven't done raid.

Anyone level 80 or over is automatically granted access. Those under have to have finished atleast 1 of Franklin Teeks (spl?) hotzone tasks to gain access.

You choose a class to be, there are no Berserkers / Beastlords to choose (It's old world!)

You are given a series of targets to kill. When completed a chest will spawn (In the room where the final mob spawns. Efreeti or Froggy King). In the chest will be a single piece of loot from the new 'collection' (As I call it).

You receive experience (Quite a lot, I received 11AA's on full 100% to AA EXP under the 750AA cap), near 2kpp and 1 beer as a reward for completing a group task. (You have to EQ Button -> Quests -> Rewards to get it, after leaving the instanced zone)

Bards are horribly broken. You can't /melody and twisting with hotkey bar buttons is a painful experience

Once you complete the Naggy group task, Old Man McKenzie becomes a merchant. The beer you are rewarded is his currency and you can buy any item from the 'collection'.

Completing the Guk group task unlocks another section of items from the collection to be available for purchase. Item's cost 6/14/21 beers each and consist largely of near 500HP-ish 30-to-stats versions of old world drops. The occassional clicky item is in there also.

Loot from the raid is roughly double the HP of group item versions and some better stats (More heroics too)

**NOTE** There are only two group tasks and each has a 15hour (ish) lockout before you can do it again.

Among the 'collection' is a modified NO DROP manastone. A guildie was lucky enough to win the roll when it was in the chest for us. It is just as restricted as the original manastone.

I have e-mailed in images/details of both items I saw as rewards from the two tasks (Fleshripper and Manastone). Would have uploaded the entire collection but I'm too lazy for that...

EDIT: I'm not entirely sure how SoE expect us to use the beer currency. You only get 1 per group task and you can only do 2 per day roughly. So you'd need a solid week of 2 per day just to pay for one of the lesser items, 14 times around the loop I'm pretty sure you'd get what you want dropping heh..

Thanks much for the info, I'll try again after completing a hotzone task. I assume you were grouped to get the task from McKenzie, is there a minimum requirement (3 or more I know id needed for most missions/ldons) that you know of. And I assume mercs cannot be in the group as they are definately not old world! Would love to get my hubby back into this, we both misss the old days.

No mercs allowed for this. Also, you cannot get the task unless you are lv 80 but you can be added to a task as long as the group average is lv 80. Doing each task unlocks a set of loot. There are 3 group tasks and 2 raids that both use the same currency.

You can pretty much do a raid once and then do the rest as group tasks to get good raid level gear.

Please refer to the post elsewhere on this forum. A decision to nerf the gear as it's seen as too powerful for common play.
