Mage solo zones?Follow

#1 Jul 12 2009 at 8:57 AM Rating: Decent
I have a gnome mage that I am soloing. She is now lvl 46. I have outgrown Steamfont as all that is left to do there are heroics which I cannot do solo. What zones can I solo in from level 46 thru ..hmmm... 56? Any suggestions? Every zone I have figured out how to get to, is way too little..

Thanks for any direction you can give me.

Try Dsp and the hoppers, the sand giants in so ro, and mobs in goraku mesa.

46-56 on sand giants in Ro? I don't think so.

Click the link here for ZONES by LEVELS. That's what I do when levelling a toon. If a zone is HOT all the better but don't limit yourself to HOT ZONES cuz that's boring as heck.

I should have added the word elite to sand giants. Sand giant elites in So an No Ro (levvel 36 to 38?) were giving good exp up to about 51 for my toons. There is also a task to complete that will give extra exp and plat for the completion.

Mines of Nurga ! Drop down one level to the second tier. There are plenty to kill. They have low aggro radius. One of the named on second tier is traitor somwething. Yes they run but they have low hps you can blow their planet up. When this dies down for you look for stabber remmy on map. This area is tier 3. Then you can move into tier 4.

Be sure to collect the mt death mineral salts and green goblin skin. You turn in 2 salts or one skin to Herald Telcha in chardok for chardok faction. Build up your faction to run aggro free to chardok b at 61 for a lot of lonely mobs there.

Mines of Nurga is a xp per hour zone. Xp per kill isn't impressive. However there are a ton of mobs to kill.

My beasty hunted here till level 60 with about 80 AA or so.

I always liked Nadox. The one large square room on the upper level (circled in purple) is easy to pull from the south hallway (reddish X). the only hard part might be splitting the two right at the entry although I was always able to stay close to the wall and move towards the entry, single aggro-pulling the troll kitty-corner to me.

You can sit and rest in the hall and there's only one roamer who comes out of the hallway south of you, stands there and walks back. Just invis when you're resting and try to time your fights so he doesn't add. The trolls don't run when dying and drop semi-decent gem loot. I spent a good deal of time with my mage here once upon a time in her late 40's and into her 50's.

I always liked Dulak's Harbor around those levels. You can go up a few levels there just by going from one boat to the other. The mobs drop lots of plat and gems, and they are well-spaced so you won't get way too many (on most occasions). Pathing can get quite wonky in places, but it's predictable after you see it a few times, and that happens mostly around the docks themselves, not on the boats or flat land. And if you're quest-oriented, there are some specific class-spells that are quested through the LoY expansion, which will go along with the zones others have suggested, ie Nadox.

When I PL'd my cleric (1st and only time ever pl'ing) I used the agro+ds method on my ranger, both in Dulak and Nadox. And I found the xp to go quite fast for little to no risk for either of my toons.

Anyway, when you first get to Nadox the SE corner has a lot of trolls that make great xp-fodder, and they will most likely drop a whole set of every type of defiant armor you might need/want.

If you feel that area is too easy, other good camps in that zone:
a) the spot Joph suggested
b) the spot marked "safe point"
c) the ramp leading down from the big central room to the "upper luggalds" area
d) the room at the west end of the southernmost hallway

The safe point is, indeed, a safe point but I always found the trolls around the campfire difficult to single pull and pulling doubles was hard on my mage. Either the pet gets beaten down faster than I can heal or I'd get aggro and have a troll beating on me or whatever. The room I circled has mobs spaced so that you almost have to work at it to get a double pull.

I'm not sure if you're doing cleric merc or not but it'd probably make life easier. At the time, mercs weren't out yet so I was stuck with gimpy mage heals for my pet. With a cleric merc doing the healing, you could probably chew right through the mobs. Other factors are probably obvious to you including how well you're geared, how well your pet is buffed and what sort of pet toys you've summoned/purchased.

Looking at the bestiary, the mobs in the room range from lvl 46-48 so you'll probably want either a healer merc, a real life partner or to wait a level. Although I think I just hunted the yellow cons and rested up a lot, knowing that I'd hit 47 soon enough anyway.

If you have a healer merc go to Seb at 46. Bind outside of Seb and use gate as an evac if needed. Yes I know it is quite a long run back to PoK but the Gate/evac can come in handy until you get used to pulling in there.

Use your earth pet to keep mobs rooted so they don't run and purchase a full set of level 85 pet toys for it-shroud yourself in PoK when camping out to preserve your pets. Start at the top and work your way down to the jails all the way to the porter in the basement. Port out and repeat. Once you get higher in level start working the shrooms and finally the jugs for spells. Once you hit 60 go to the Plane of Hate, turn the AAXP up to 90% and farm AA's. IMHO AAXP is greater then reg XP at 60 and you get 7-16% AAXP per kill in Hate. Get all the mundane AA's done then you can spend them on the "goodies".
