Everquest File Update Failed..?Follow

#1 Dec 29 2005 at 9:07 PM Rating: Decent
I just bought/installed this game, I go to the Everquest.exe, and get that error. It is in more context, this:EverQuest Patch version 1.1.4
(c) 1999 Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc.
All Rights Reserved.

Looking up address of update server.
Connecting to update server.
Checking for new files, please wait...
Connection lost.
EverQuest file update failed. If the problem persists, contact your network administrator or internet service provider for assistance.
(patch.everquest.com:7000TCP)

* ERROR *: Corrupt or missing file on update server.
If the problem persists, email
<everquest@sonyinteractive.com>

If this is your first time playing EverQuest, refer to "Troubleshooting Your Connection" in "EverQuest_Manual.txt"in your EverQuest folder.

I changed my Port triggering, my Port Forwarding, and even tried to manually set up my IP and DNS, no results. I contacted my cable company, they didn't help any-The Manual says crap-I contacted Linksys, no results. I was wondering from someone who plays this game what I must do to be able to Access this game.

i found this, maybe will help ya:

I am unable to download files with the new patcher.

Answer
Important Note: If you are unable to download files with the new patcher, download this file to your EverQuest directory (default location is C:\Program Files\EverQuest\) and run it. You must have Internet Explorer installed on your system for the EverQuest patcher to work properly.

One thing vitally important about the new EverQuest Patcher is its functionality. Not only do you have the ability to customize the patcher for your personal preferences, this patcher takes advantage of differential patching technology. Say for instance that we created an addendum to a certain file. Let's use EverQuest.exe as an example. In the past, we would have downloaded to you a brand new EverQuest.exe file. Now, with differential patching, we are only downloading the appended part of the EverQuest.exe file thus shortening the download process.

All anti-virus software should be disabled before running the patcher.

If you have issues running this patcher, try the following:

Set Dial Up Settings

Under tools in the menu, click on Internet Options
Click on the Connections tab
Highlight your dialup and click the "Settings" button
At the bottom of the Settings page, uncheck "Do not allow Internet Applications to use this connection"
Click OK
Uncheck "Perform system security check before dialing"
Click OK
Set Security to "Medium"

All Internet Explorer Security settings should be set to "Medium." To do this, follow these instructions:

Under Tools in the menu, click on Internet Options
Click on the Security tab
Click the "Custom Level" button
In the pull down menu under "Reset custom settings," choose Medium
Click Reset
Click OK
Use HTTP 1.1

Follow these instructions to use HTTP 1.1:

Under Tools, click on Internet Options
Click on the Advanced tab.
Under HTTP 1.1 Settings, check "Use HTTP 1.1" (unless you are running a proxy).
If you do not see this option, you should update your version of Internet Explorer. This can be done through Microsoft Windows Update (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/).

Is it the same file that is corrupt or missing each time, or is it a different file once in awhile?

it doesn't matter if ya have cable i thought, it is a file you go download, install in your eq diretory, run it, and it re installs the patcher?

the sugestions at the end of the post are sugestions for dial up people haveing hard time getting the file.

I've noticed that all my favorites I had bookmarked for various things on the the SOE official site get redirected to EQPlayers too, and other links, thank you SOE. Making having added them to my favorites as a useless waste of time.
