Is there anywhere I can go to get a list of the popularity of a server? Years ago you could just check in game, at the server selection screen, but now, you can not... This makes me sad, I am very sad. Somebody please help me.

Not really.
I used to think Luclin was popular, but then I heard that she was trashing other servers behind their backs. She may have you know what her way to popularity.

Lot of folks around these boards play on Povar.
Povar doesnt have to work horizontal to be popular if you catch my drift. <wink> <nod>

I too missed the ability to see the amount of people on servers, but over time it was ok.
I Honestly dont know how to rate any of the servers, as I have only been on a few....However...I have heard from many who have played on most of them that like the one I am on now, The Rathe (KARANA), all have good and bad, just like the players that use them.
Does anyone know the logic of why Sony now hides server usage amounts from players?

It's most likely because there is more competition out there than before.

At the time they cut it off, I remember some comments about it being valuable marketing information. My guess about that would be something like, Competitor A, "Hey look at that, their numbers are way down after our last ad campaign, now let's try this!" But I don't know, just guessing.

.. there was probably a steady decline in subscribers and they really didnt want that information to be public.

.... if you are just coming back top the game and are looking for a popular server then really anyone should be ok. After the server mergers they all had decent populations.

If you are looking for overall population then according to a previos thread it is allegedly about 400,000. No word on how many of those are station passes for people who are really playing eq 2 and star wars etc.

Many people use bazaar traders as in indication of server population. With that said, I play on Povar but couldn't tell you what the current bazaar population is.

Nobody can help you. I suggest good drugs.
