How do I get to Abysmal Sea ??Follow

#1 Apr 28 2004 at 6:30 PM Rating: Decent
If I am level 20 plus I know I can use the LoDN magnus transport system to get to where the boat lands. BUT !! My level 21 Druid is doing all the Free skill quests. Is there any way for a lower level character like my 12th level Gnome to get there ?

Sure would like him to work on Tinker Quest in Abysmal Sea, while he is still young and adventurous.

Thanks

currently the only way to get to absymal sea is via the magus in Nedaria's landing. That means you have to do the ldon introductory quest so you can use the magus which happens around level 15.

Greetings,

You used to also be able to get the boat from Nedaria's Landing and Natimbi to Abysmal Sea - I'm not sure if this boat was removed with the other's in last week's patch though.

Yes the boat was removed.

After a while looking for gnomes I found that the Magus in Natimbi can transport you there. Symmetry demanded that the one in Nedaria would also. It is nice to have it confirmed.

You do not have to use the Magus to get to Nedaria's landing. The route through Jaggedpine Forest isn't particularly safe for a low level gnome but a class with invis or potions would be able to get to the adventure camp ok.

However to quote from EQTraders
Quote:
This is a skill for gnomes who like to putter. Below level 16, gnomes have a base skill of 50 in this skill, and, at level 16, they are then allowed to progress all the way up to skill 250.

So you will be able to get all of 4 skill-ups after your gnome is 16. It hardly seems worth going to AS for that.

RE: JPF access... I tried this access a couple weeks back and got sent to Surefall instead. DId they move the zone access point, or just re-route it?

JPF zone in is still in Surefall Glade, the big glowing red orb on the pillar in the caves with the bears...

[edit]
Just used this zone in last night with no problems

Olred do a check and make sure you have jaggedpine zone files loaded. Do an advanced download if you dont.

Thanks for the help, looks like the easiest thing is to go kill more stuff and get up to level 16 and then 20 if inclined to get over the Abysmal.

It is a neat place, seems like everyone there has some story to tell, or wants to involve you in some quest for them. Still working out how to find everything..with all the different levels in the boats..

Hi, I just want to correct the impression given above that the boat dose not run to Abysmal Sea any more, it does run. I have just used it 17/07/16.

So much of the game that the original question was based on has changed that it wouldn't even get asked nowadays. Smiley: smile

I'm glad to hear the boat has come back though. Back then they were going through repeated losses of boat function and sometimes we had gnomes and no boat and then boats and no gnome and now we seem to have both.

The basic principle of my original answer still stands though. Why go for a freebie to get 4 points?
For very little outlay and a good look at EQTC the engineering vendor in PoK can get you those points before you can say "nedaria's landing" Smiley: smile

Remember that the Abysmal Sea tradeskilling "freebies" were also a necessary unlock to do the tradeskill combines with certain GoD materials.

I'm not a huge tradeskiller and not sure if that flagging has been removed on live servers or not, but having just done one of the Abysmal quests on Quarm server event 1... the flavour text remains as-known from GoD era... suggesting it does still provide the flag.

If the flag remains, and you want to do those combines, you have a reason to do the quest for 4 skill ups (or zero as I recall guildies doing back in the day with some complaints due to the tediousness of the quests).

I went there when I first started back this time. I'd forgotten about the tradeskill quests in Crescent Reach Smiley: frown

The quest givers seemed to have the conversion quests separate from the beginner tradeskills. For example I could talk to the smithing NPC about simple tasks or new materials.

Certainly the conversions can be done without the tradeskills. My gnome went there to get some Dark Matter converted and they did it for him without any quest.

Yes, they will do the conversions for you. Doesn't doing the full quest let you do the conversions yourself?

Edit: and doesn't doing it yourself up the return quantity? Vaguely recalling this.

Doing the training in Abysmal will enable you to "do it yourself". In the beginning you get one, with more combines working up to two and finally three.

Doing the "turn-in" gets you two every time.

Doing the training in Abysmal vs. Crescent Reach is worth it if you will be wanting LOTS of the stuff. This worked for me with fletching materials. I used them for skilling.
