#1 Mar 15 2004 at 11:13 AM Rating: Decent
i just dinged 40 last night on my wood elf druid and an starting to feel like i am falling behind the curve a little equipment and stat wise

when i started i had a friend who was quiting so he gave me a bunch of gear and it has served me well so far

my question is this

at about were should my wisdom and other stats be at this point in the game?

also were is a good place to level at around 40 either for soloing or finding groups? also some good quests would be nice

last one is currently i am using a mistletoe cutting sickle in my primary slot yet i find i seldom melee anymore so what would be a good item to hold in that slot for my level and the levels to com?

I have a 55 druid but I was L40 several expansions ago and stat gear has proliferated since. So what your Wisdom should be is hard to say but close to 200 is probably reasonable. If you need cash to buy gear, you should be able to farm silks or hides well enough.

For grouping in the 40 the Dreadlands are a standard suggestion and there are some easy quests to do there with the drolvargs. Ldon is also a good place for experience and there are a few useful spells to get. I think the ulthorks in EW are also good for this level solo and their tusks can be turned in for valuable gems and items in cobalt scar. This make is a heavily used druid quad-kiting zone. You could also solo or group in Gunthak. Check out eqdruids for other advice on this and quad-kiting. Another tactic less commonly used by druids is charming animals and is more suited to druids with higher charisma. If you like to do this, EW is a good plce to try it. I strongly reccommend snaring the mob you want to charm first. If you cant do it now, try it later when you get better spells for it.

As for a primary slot item you are probably best off getting items to raise your wisdom and/or mana since you shouldn't be meleeing. An exception may be some thing like an earthcrafters staff which has a good ammount of wisdom and mana, plus casts a combat proc thats useful when farming. Im not sure offhand what level it procs, but its probably on the items listing here.

I would say that at level 40, your wisdom should be a little bit higher or around 200.

Probably the best place to solo and/or find a group at your level is the Dreadlands. you can root/rot everything in that zone, and you can quad kite almost everything in DL (avoid the Drachnids, they can root and disrupt your quads).

As far as quests go, I think that the Xanthe's earing of nature/earing of the solstice is a good quest that yields earings with great stats. This quest requires either decent trade skills or about 5-6k pp to buy the neccessary items for the no-fail combine in the bazaar.

I wouldn't buy too much armor in the near future since you are going to want to head over to the Umbral Plains in your mid to low 50's and farm the elysian armor.

You won't need a a damage dealing primary item as a druid since you won't be meleeing much. A good primary slot item is the Ancient tome of Necromantic magic. It is an Ldon item and sells relatively cheaply in bazaar (about 800pp last time I checked). I had it on my druid until he got his epic.

my advice is simply, get it around 200 if you can, but get to 45 for kei, that is what really makes difference and you will rule when you get kei, new the gear will only improve this slightly if your wis is at 200

Good place to solo (as camp is usually always open) is the spectres in Oasis. You should be able to do two full quads, then have plenty of time to med up before repops. Easy and actually pretty nice cash as some of the scythes they drop sell for 12pp. Also you can run around the Karanas killing griffons and Hill Giants. Track the highland lions and kill em. A high quality lion skin (not pelt) can sell for up to 900pp. Watch for the Silver Griffon cause he can't be rooted or snared. Bounce over to West Commons every once in a while and theres usually a Hill Giant or NightFall Giant up.
