Morden Rasp, from what I hear it's a pretty decent low level server. There will always be high level transfers running around, but I hear there are a good amount of newbies there as well. Plus it's the least populated server right now.

I'm not sure, All i know is that you sort by population rank in the server sign-on menu. Morden rasp is always at the bottom.

How does server lists work... I always thought that the ones on the bottom were the fullest. Does anyone know for sure?

If you sort by population, the LEAST crowded is at the top. Notice that Legends, the Zeks (PvP), the Bayles (European), and Firiona Vie are almost always near the top...during normal playing hours in North America, that is. Antonius Bayle has a much larger European base than Kane Bayle, so if I log on during the day I see that AB is much farther down the list than it is if I log on at night.

I'm on Kane Bayle, and it is a quite small server. However, there are very very few true newbies on it, from what I can tell, at least in North American time zones. That whole (European) thing after the name must turn off a lot of non-Europeans from starting their characters there.

Honestly, I think the best thing to do when starting to play EQ is to play with some RL friends. Get them to make some new low level characters to group with you, and learn how to play the game in a fun environment without people making fun of you for being new. If you don't know anyone in RL to play with, then just make sure to do your research. Smiley: smile

Game on,

The server selection screen used to show the actual population numbers of each server. For some reason they (SOE or Verant) decided it was a bad thing for us to see.

The change happened around the time SWG came out. Frankly, I think they didn't want it to be visible if their player numbers took a hefty nosedive.

Since that apparently hasn't happened, I'd really like SOE to restore that display of server population numbers.

ive wondered about this.....
Im in New Zealand, and play on Kane Bale. Im a newbie, with only one toon.(26 rnger). If i play in the mornings here, then i go grouping cos theres loads of people about, and if i play afternoons or evenings then i go soloing, cos its quieter. Its actually quite spooky wandering into P. caverns and finding no-one there at all. Weekend sare a bit different of course....Ive been soloing greyhoppers in Marus Seru for a few evenings and other than a ranger called Atreus, its alays empty. Very nice! but bugger me, those greyhoppers are tuff little snots.....

Hi,

I am on Morden Rasp, just started playing about a week and half ago. Am Level 12 1/2 (every inch counts) Pal Human. This has been great for us newbies (when do we start not being newbies).

Not a lot of people, all of us fumbling around learning party, how to do this and that.

So for me, MR has been perfect.

I would say most of the people on it are really nice, we have even just sat down and chatted for no reason at all. A couple of idiots but that would happen anywhere.

If you do go on, my name is Leenla and I will try and help you as much as I can or know at the moment.

/em suggests Maelin Starpyre.

Blessed home to me. First home, always close to the heart. Over populated perhaps. Tried to advertise my assistance in Paludal Caverns one day..went a bit like this:

/ooc 12 SK with 57 cleric out of group, LFG
Blahhead says out of character, 'TRAIN TO ZONE'
/em waits 5 minutes.
/ooc 13 SK with 57 cleric out of group, LFG
Jimbob says out of character, 'TRAIN TO ZONE SRY GUYZ'

You can imagine how crowded it must be if I can't get a freaking group as an oog healer in a level 20 zone!

Good stomping grounds imho.

Lari
