Now that CHOS nerfed, best aggro dual weild combo?Follow

Now that the CHOS has been nerfed, what is the best weapon combo for a 35th level warrior that wants to dual weild and hold aggro?
Had been using a CHOS and Sword of the Bloodsworn with a 145 dex, was working great. Will put CHOS in the bank for a while, and start saving plat again. What are my options?

I figured this was coming - glad I had not earned the 15k for a CHoS before the nerf. I feel for those who did.

I am a 39 (as of last night) warrior and hold aggro quite well with a Sword of the Bloodsworn in primary slot and Blackened Acrylia Blade in secondary. You may have to hit taunt a little more than you used to, but if you engage first and have a taunt over 150, you should be fine.

I suspect the CHoS won't drop in value dramatically... probably down to 10-12k. It is still a really formidable weapon at 50+.

Since they also fixed the recommended level damage bug, the SotBS's ratio is pretty terrible until around 45 or so. At mid-30's, it probably has a 7/19 ratio. Hard to warrant using that. The proc works, of course, but you're giving up a lot of damage which also generates aggro. By mid-40's, you should be to 9/19, maybe 10/19, which will be good enough, factoring in the proc.

I'm using a Blackened Acrylia Blade on my warrior, as well. I'm looking for a decent 1HB to keep my skill up while waiting on the CHoS that I just banked. Suggestions are welcome.

As for 1HS with decent aggro, the Venomous Axe of the Velium Brood procs at 35th. Frostbringer procs at 40th. Neither have very impressive stats, but the 12/22 on the Frostbringer isn't too bad, all things considered. Prices went way up, though.

I was not aware that they changed the damage on the SotBS. That is unfortunate for me...I willpay more attention to the hits next time I am on.

I can't confirm the recommended level damage bug has been fixed. I caught a few posts about it on different message boards, but didn't get a chance to test it last night. Mind you, the SotBS is still proc'ing at lower levels, but unless you're getting at least 9/19 or so out of it, it probably isn't worth the trade off for the time being.

I use a SotBS in offhand on my Morden Rasp toon. It does about as much damage as my defiance use to. That suggests that the bug is fixed. Also my War Marshall's Bladed staff was doing less damage then it was previously so...Either I had a bad night or the bug is fixed.

I remember for most of my 30's and 40's and even a few levels early 50's, I used this combo, and never seemed to have too many problems with aggro. Lower damage, yes, but both of these weapons are attainable by your own group by med 40's.

Blackhand Berserker's Axe

Would save a little healing now and then, and make the mobs a little mad at you (all runes give some form of aggro, as if you were healing yourself for the amount runed)

Barnacle Covered Axe

Has a nice little aggro proc with it, and a small DD.

Was a good combo for me at any rate.

the recommended level bug is NOT fixed. I can prove this because my level 11 rogue has a

my warrior is L52 and uses Sword of the Bloodsworn and Snowshipper. Seems to hold agro fine...make sure you've gotten Provoke and/or Bellow disc too, and life will be easy.

Wavecrasher develops some serious aggro when it procs! The proc is a 20 HP per tick dot that also slows the mob. Really cheeses them off! Now that the CHoS is nerfed, I'm thinking of trying a Bloodsworn with it.

The Bug is Dead!
Long live the Wurmy!

This post is a great example of just how far the game has changed.

After I first read this post I was trying to remember what weapons my warrior used early in his life. At that time he was an alt and his progression was relativly slow.

I remember when he won the roll for the Icetooth claw. And I remember him completing the quest for the wurm slawer about lvl 42 or so. Then getting a fbss about lvl 45, at which time he was the number two tank in a decent guild.
When SoL came out he upgraded to the GSC and then the Ornate Swrod fo the General (10/18 and no proc). In his off hand he used a Rune Blade Sword of Night (12/26 with a 176 proc as i recall).
The OSG was his primary hand weapons until the PoP expancion came out.

Anyway he had very little problems holding agro using what would be consider trash weapons today until lvl 42. And even after that he did very well with weapons that are not highly regarded today.
In short you can be a decent tank with out the 13/20 and the huge proce of todays uber weapons.....

Speaking of 13/20 weapons that is how I know the bug is dead. You see some time back my warrior won a roll on some 13/20 weapon with some nice stats for a ranger. So I handed it down to my little halfling ranger (who's main puprose in life it making arrows and killing spiders). Anyway yesterday he ran out to hunt and was hitting for 8 instead of 26. After killing 3 mobs with no hit higher than 8 (at his lvl it is a 4/20 weapon) I decided that the bug must be dead....

As for what weapons are the best now, I'm not sure but I think that the old stadards might make a bit of a comeback. Pre lvl 45 I would consider a wurmy one of the best primary weapons. Around lvl 45 when the damage penality isn't so bad, some of the uber weapons might be better. I'm sure that the RET (12/20 recomended lvl 45) would be a better weapons than the wrum slayer in the early 40's.

I can confirm the recommended level damage bug is squashed.

I had to bank my Copper Hammer and Sword of the Bloodsworn when I played. I still had my previous weapons banked (Blackened Acyrilia Blade and Jagged Blade of Mourning). I picked up a Fungus Encrusted Hammer for 400 pp to keep my 1HB skill up while leveling. Stats are fair... 10/21 +2 Disease damage. Other contenders in the bazaar were the Centi Warhammer (but prices went way up on that, and it is fairly slow) and the Jade Mace (9/19, if memory serves), but that was a bit more than I cared to spend on a weapon I won't have for more than ten levels.

Anyway, there are quite a few alternatives in the 1HS category (best choice is probably the Blackened Acyrilia Blade), less in the 1HB, though. Given the gear I had on my warrior alt. before I quit playing back near the Velious expansion, I can't complain :) There are still fantastic weapons available.

WarriorJoe, agreed... I was using a Icetooth Claw on my alt, and a whip that proc'd Choke (can't recall the name now). I believe I had an Axe of the Ironback for my 2HS. There are a ton of cheap, effective weapons available. The stuff that was used at 45+ before the expansions can easily be upgraded with a 200 pp item now.

As for aggro, I've been able to maintain aggro with no problem without the procs. Between Taunt, Provoke, Slam (large race), and /shield, I have a pretty solid ******* for keeping aggro or getting it back, should I loose it.
