What is the best overall transportation/meditation? I guess this would be between a horse and the dragon looking thing. Also which one is the best to purchase for pratical use? Last, once you purchase is this something you can pass between charecters on your account or is it permanantly assigned to the toon that purchased it?

Thanks for the insight.

The bridle/drum (i.e. the thing that summons your mount) is No Drop so you can't trade it around.

For transportation, the more expensive the mount, the faster it goes. For meditation, they're all the same so unless you need a SoW+ speed mount, just buy the cheapest.

If you buy the cheaper version and SOW is cast on it, will it move at the spead of SOW?

Can you be invisible and still be mounted?

The Dragmors are they the same as the horses in speed, more expensive the faster they run?

No, if you are on your horse/drogmor you will run at that speed, no matter if you have sow cast on you. Mounts are not really used as a means of transportation unless you buy the 100k ones or the pally/sk aa horse.

Also the horses and drogmors are exactly the same (speed wise).

OK, I recently asked about horses and drogmores, the differences, etc. I didn't listen to everyone and bought the horse, because I thought it looked cool for my dwarf to be riding. Well, while it looked cool, the targetting problem is real and is a pain in the neck (horses neck..get it, hehe).

I ended up being told that I could sell my bridle back and get my money back...watch out for this one...you get far less. I had to save up to afford the droggie. But it was worth it. The med and no-sit agro advantage is great. I love it. He runs very slightly faster than a normal character runs. I bought the cheapest because that is what I could afford.

So, save yourself trouble and buy the droggie. Looks be damned, that horse head really does get in the way.

Before purchasing a mount make sure you really, really, really want one. You can sell the mount back, but at a much reduced price (around 66% of the original price). Some things to note about mounts:
  • Horses are purchased in the Bazaar, while Drogmors (sp) are puchased in the Gulf of Gunthak
  • Mounts can be sold back to the vendor (typically a stable hand) and at a reduced price. You will receive a "bag of platinum" which can be given to another vendor for cash.
  • For horses the color is a bit of a status symbol. Black and white horses sell for higher prices than brown or tan.
  • While sitting on your mount you regenerate mana as you would sitting. Aggro is reduced as if you were standing
  • Mounts consume food and water. Make sure you bring extra rations & drink (or can summon some) before heading out to some out of the way corner of Norrath. Make sure that stat enhancing food is not in a slot where your mount can consume it.
  • There are four different speeds of mounts that correspond to the type of bridle/drum. The first tier is slower than SOW. The second tier is about equal to SOW. The third tier is SOW casted about at level 50. The fourth tier is close to Selo's.
  • Mounts take around 3-4 seconds to get up to full running speed. This is one drawback from SOW.
  • While mounted you can't duck
  • You can't use/summon your mount in an indoor or LDON zone. Highpass Keep appears to be an exception, along with semi-outdoor city zones like Freeport
  • Horses have a head in the way while in first person view. Drogmors do not show the head while mounted. Horses bounce up and down while riding, while drogmors bounce side to side. If you are sensitive to certain screen movements the drogmor can sometimes make you feel dizzy.
  • While using your mount get accustomed to using all differnt types of camera angles. Find some outdoor zone in an out of the way area and practice mounted combat using the differnt angles. Practice targeting while moving at a breakneck pace and then dodging sharply away.
  • The biggest advantage of owning a mount is unlike SOW it never runs out...typically at the most inconvenient moment. Although mounts are fiendishly expensive, if you have the cash to burn it can rapidly become one of your most prized item.
