Manna regen and Yalup VFollow

#1 Feb 23 2004 at 5:46 PM Rating: Decent
What I am wondering what the manna per tick difference is between sitting and standing. I have gotten the spell Yalup V and it has a manna regen on it.If there is more manna regen with yalup than with sitting there is no need for this ol cleric to sit anymore. If someone knows the numbers on this it would be helpful.Thank you. /salute

Sitting (or using a mount) will always provide better mana regen than just standing. You're meditate skill doesn't help when you are standing.

From a post I read a while back, these should be the formulas
Standing = 2+(FT items)+(aaxp)+(buff regen) mana per tick.
Sitting = 3+(meditate skill/10)+(FT items)+(aaxp)+(buff regen) mana per tick.

If you use Yaulp V you will regen mana much more quickly standing. Of course you will have to cast the spell evry 24 seconds I think. This and the summoned hammer is what allows clerics to be able to melee and still have mana for heals. Of course it will take some getting used to if all you have done before was stand, heal, sit. Have fun with it but don't get so preoccupied with your new melee prowess that you forget to heal and let someone die.

Putting DataRaiders formulae to work ... provided they're accurate.

For my own sake I'm going to fill in the variables using my wifes cleric Israena as an example
Yalup V'ing = 2 + (2 FT item) + (1 MC) + (14 KEI + 10 YaulpV + 6 BAoR) = 35 mana/Tick plus any DPS from melee.

Horsing/Sitting = 3 + (252max med/10 = 25) + (2 FT item) + (1 MC) + (14 KEI + 6 BAoR) = 51 mana/tick

Moral of the story if you can melee for more than the cleric nuke dmg ( ie 925 dmg/7ticks (132/tick) Judgement) and your mana regen for heals is fine get in there and Yaulp. Otherwise sitting/horsing is still the best mana recovery/sec. But if you find yourself fighting sit aggro and you can't horse ala LDoN Yaulp can help active mana regen.

Curious where Dataraider came up with that formula for sitting mana regen?

As a Cleric with Yaulp V, I believe you regen mana faster standing using Yaulp V, than just sitting. And know way do I regen mana almost twice as fast sitting

another twist to this discussion is the +dex buff on cleric's Yaulp V and the amount of procing the hammer does. I know I proc a lot when my cleric melees, so I'm doing decent damage (hammer procs 110-130 on average), and regening mana at the same time!

The decision to melee is dependent on group makeup as well.

I had wrote the forula down from an older thread in this forum a while back. If you search for it, you should find it. I would have posted the link to it, but I'm to lazy to search 50 pages of posts to find it again.

I have to agree with WiscoPlayer. Just from personal experience I seem to regen mana as fast of faster using Yaulp V then I do just sitting. And in LDoN many times sitting is out of the question anyway because of the aggro it generates.

Aye, get in there and bash away!

Makes playing your cleric a bit more challenging. as you do still have to watch your MA's health and step back to CH once in a while...

Was in an LDoN adventure the other night. I am a level 61 cleric, we had a 64 beastlord, then rest were 65's Ranger, Warrior, Druid and Shaman..

We slammed through the adventure. MA had over 9k hitpoints.. I would have been a burden on the party just sitting there to med and heal him. I had to cast CH on him about every 4 mobs. Easily could have been FM the whole time. I tried nuking some, but that depleted mana.. So I threw in my hammer pet, hit the mob with Mark of Karn IF the mob had his own damage shield up as Mark of Karn overwrites any mob damage shield HINT HINT, and then yaulped and bashed along with the MA. With a shammy dex buff, and my yaulp V, I had max dex, had my own haste and I do wear a belt I picked up in Sebilis that has haste on it. I was easily proccing at least 8 times per mob with the level 60 summoned hammer and combined with my pet was putting in some decent for a cleric melee damage.

I had fun, the party was never in jeoprody.. if my mana fell below 60 I would sit and med it back up some.. although standing back and nuking for damage could have been possible, it just consumes too much mana...

And as to how much mana you get back? during the course of one fight, I can regen enough mana to cover the CH cast, the pet cast, and the MoK if I cast it...
