My lvl 13 enchanter....Follow

#1 Feb 19 2004 at 7:45 AM Rating: Good
Ok, I have my lvl 13 enchanter and am having some trouble finding a decent place to level him up, whenever I try soloing something ALWAYS goes horribly wrong and I end up losing more XP than I gain. Can someone direct me to a good place with plenty of groups for some decent XP?

You could try Kurn's Tower in the Field of Bone (take the Cabalis stone in PoK to get there) nice xp , usually ok to get a group and none of the drama queens you can find in Paludal.

Unless you just want the xp and don't care about playing your class I'd stay out of PC. If you do go, forget everything but root. I doubt more than 5 people playing in there know what mez is for anyway. I gave up on trying to play my chanter in there and moved on to other places where you can actually be of use.

Crushbone throne room is good untill 16 then you have a choise of PC < i still recommend it since it's the fastest xp in the game and not everyone in there is a loser.> or old school in paw.

while PC is indeed difficult at times you can do 16 - 24 in a day <or 2 evenings> so it's worth the pain. Yes i agree forget mez, forget slow just nuke like your life depends on it and keep the group hasted and breezed and they will love you.

PC is like McDonalds, cheep & easy food for the masses but don't expect it to taste nice or be particularly filling.

I may be wrong on this, it's been awhile, but I think that Befallen is also a good place to go at your level. Should be able to find groups easily enough and the zone is full of undead mobs which don't run.

Unfortunatly the great zone that was Befallen got hit with a nerf stick, much to everyones disgust.

It depends on a few things:

* do you want to solo or group?
* if you're grouping, are you doing pickups or with friends?
* trying to level FAST or take your time and see places?
* do you care about loot? or just XP?
* are you twinked?

I'll assume you are untwinked, soloing, and are otherwise looking for a nice balanced approach to xp and loot. In that case, I think I'd probably suggest:

First, hit your local newbie yard and kill a few low level wolves, bears, or cats. Collect some LQ, MQ, and HQ pelts. Head to the bazaar. Sell the pelts for 5pp each (or whatever they sell for on your server), then use the money to buy an enchanter usable magic weapon. Maybe something like a walrus tooth or a crystal grinder. Doesn't have to be anything special - just get something with the best damage/delay ratio you can afford. It's just for finishing off mobs. Also, get some 10-slot deluxe toolboxes (cost ya about 10pp from a NPC vender in PoK).

Then head to wisp isle (in Erud's Crossing). And kill wil-o-the-wisps. Destroy the burnt out lightstones. Sell the regular lightstones to the vender on the island. And save the Greater lightstones in your toolboxes. Once your toolboxes are mostly full of greater lightstones or wisps go green, it's time to leave. Head to the gypsy camp in North Karana and do This Quest. You'll need to have a couple inventory slots open because the quest reward is a container. You can probably kill wisps using your animation pet, nukes, and your magic weapon, but I'd suggest that this is a good time to learn how to use your level 12 spell "charm". I'm sure you can find a writeup somewhere on how to charm solo. There are several ways to do it, so I won't go into it here.

I'd guess you'll now have a few hundred plat. Make another trip to the bazaar and get some gear upgrades after you've bought and banked all your spells through 20th level or so.

At this point, I'd guess you'll be around 15th level. Hmmm, let's see. The usual place people go at that level is Paludal. That's probably best if you want to find pickup groups. If you're going to continue soloing, I'd consider charm soloing in North Karana next. If north karana is a bit tough, then i'd suggest charm soloing a the "mud pit" in The Overthere. That should take you through your twenties. You can probably use dark elf illusions and use the evil outpost there for banking and selling, though there's a PoK book right there also, so you could instead just port up to PoK to do that.

At 20th, I'd strongly suggest if you haven't learned how to group that you make an effort to do so asap. LDoN adventures are fairly easy, so maybe that would be a decent place to learn. In that setting, your main contribution will be to keep your casters buffed with breeze, your melees buffed with quickness, mez any extra mobs, and if you have excess mana, toss in a few nukes. If you've mastered charm earlier in your career, you could think about charming one of the mobs in the dungeon for a lot of extra damage.
