Whats the best soling class race combo as of today. I have been out of the EQ circle for a year now. Pleaswe let me know your suggestions on the best EVIL class/ race combo for soloing. Thnaks in advance.
Don't know about being the best, but for fun and enjoyment, whilst soloing, my Iksar Beastlord is a blast to play.
Also does very well in groups.

Necro is the obvious choice
I concur for evil Race Necro is best soloer, Iksar being best long term or if you have plenty of PP to spend and DE if your not flush with pp.
Halfling druids are the most evil class in EQ.
IMO Necros 1st and Druids 2nd for soloing abilities....
rangers do well with a good bow and a good supply of arrows....

Necros have the ability to solo well anywhere (indoors or out), ergo are the best class.
Druids and Rangers do exceptionally well outdoors. Chanters solo well with charmable pets but they do rely on the pets.
These 4 from my experience can solo what others cannot and in relative safety so are the best and I play one!

Before the nerf bat:
Swarm kiting bards the only class i know before the nerf bat can grab 30 mobs and be done in 15 min.
Beastlords CH pets with the pet buff for low mana costs
After the nerf bat:
Bards can't swarm kite that much anymore(they can still grab 10 mobs though)
A good playing necro who uses there abilites vs getting KEI is my next choice
Mage well mages have gotten stronger over time( can drop teir 4 mobs in hate solo)
Beastlord even though they can CH pets anymore tell higher lvl they do have slow and there warder's have been bumped with more hp's and have decent dmg with procs
druids and wizards well to me are tied cause they both can quad kite with wizard dropping mobs faster but more down time compared to a druid
Rangers and Bezerker welp i think then both tied in this category rangers with there bows and zkr with axes( however bezerkers cant sow them selves which means they need jboots,tboots,endless supply of sow potions, and or run 3
and snare lasts longer than 1 minute (however bezerkers snare is an ability which means they can use it while running away from a target reuse time is 12 sec and been known to unsnare at 2 sec)

Considering the OP asked about EVIL aligned characters, ranger/druids are out. And they're rather sickly at soloing when compared to the real power classes, namely Beastlord and, of ocurse, the necro.
Tarv, you've got it backwards, over the long term race is pretty meaningless. Iksar are preferred in the *early* game for their regen ability, but past the 30s-40s it's pretty negligible. And since it's so easy to level quickly these days...well the lower levels won't take very long no matter what you play.

as far as i got, the best soloing class in the game is a necro. mostly i would choose the iksar for extra regen but like that other guy said that does not help much in the higher levels, plua iksars have like a 30% xp loss or something in there. Dark Elves make god necros also, having more INT. than the iksars make em a but better but i like iksars more.. they look better then them walking blue toads.
Necros have the ability to place kick *** D.O.T.'s on there target and send there pet in to keep it away for a while. after a few ... well whatever u casted that dot on is dead! i fought a 60sutin necro with my 46 beastlord (i knew i didnt stand a chance) but i let him cast 1 spell on me cuz he said he wanted to test it out.. that junk did like 400 per second on me i died outside of the arena heh. lower levels allmost all chaacters are junk but in the end the necro will pay off the most (soloing mostly) but also kik as$ in groups ... so u choose, dark elf for uglyness and intellgance or iksar for regen, xp loss, and colness

You have root and nukes/dots for root-n-nuke methods, you have sow so you can kite, you have a pet (though weaker than the beastlord) who can't tank but adds a little distraction.
and you can make/sell potions of sow and sell them.
Plus you have all the buffs you can ever want and you can cannidance back mana.
It is, however, a bit harder than some of the other classes.

yet in a duel a chanter can own them both
