I'm looking for a good log parser... Something easy to use...

No need for "real time" - it can be after the fact.

My main need is for chat parsing. I get lots of tells and chats going on, so something that could seperate all that out for later review is what I mainly need - but seeing damage output, tradeskills, etc would be nice too.

I use EQ Companion and [link=www.yalp.org/]YALP[/link] as log parsers.

EQ Companion gives an incredible amount of detail, including keeping track of all chat channels, general and global. The drawback though is it takes a while for it to load.

When I want a simpler analysis of my log, coupled with a much speedier loading time, I use YALP.

I looked at both of those.

EQCompanion I could not even get it installed - told me I was missing files. I even downloaded it again. But also in the reading I did, it appears to need two networked computers.

The YALP, it doesn't seperate the chat - but maybe I'm missing something.

Do you have Microsoft Visual Studio? EQCompanion needs libraries from it to run properly. If you have VB or MVS you need to download the 200kb file. If you don't have those programs, download the installer, which is 3mb. Use that to install the necessities and then download the latest version, which is typically 200kb and put the exe file that is included over your existing EQ Companion.exe file.

You do not need a network to run EQ Companion, but if you want online parsing going on, you do. Offline is doable with only one computer.

I usually pick out a section of my log that I want to see when using EQ Companion, the whole thing itself would take up a HUGE amount of memory.

As for YALP, I never said it did seperation of chat, only that I used it and it is much more simple and requires much less memory than EQCompanion.

More log parsers

Maybe but it has lots of filters on the search tab. Group, Guild, Tell, Say, Chat Auction and even Channel.

I use it and I like it ... but then again maybe i'm missing something
