#1 Feb 18 2004 at 9:53 AM Rating: Decent
Hi all,

I have a 22 lvl druid. I kwow druids are not tanks but i don't understand how melee damage works. I have a 9damage weapon and my best hit is 18. I'm doing a maximum hit of weapondamage x 2, it doesnt matter my strength (now it is 89 unbuffed) or my level, it has been always like this.
Does anyone know how the maximum damage is calculated? Is there
any way to improme max damage withou changing the weapon?

Good hunting friends.

According to the steel warrior website, the maximum damage that you can expect to do can be calculated by this formula:

[((Weapon Skill + Strength)/100) * (DMG)) + (Level Damage Bonus)]

So assuming that your weapon skill is maxed out at your level the maxium damage that you do would be approximately 18.

Additionally, based on the algorithms that EQ uses, there is a magic number, which is the amount of damage that is most commonly seen.

That formula is:[(2 * DMG) + (Level Damage Bonus)]

The parces for this information was collected during the vellious era. Even now the are a good rule of thumb for figuring out how much damage you can do.

Recently it has been found that the only other way to increase the amount of damage that you do is to increase your attack rating. It has been found that there is a linear relationship between damage done and attack rating. That can be done by a varity of ranger and shaman buffs.

Hope this helps

More or less correct. However, the (( Skill + Str )/100) bit is an "If greater then 2" equation. You always get a multiplier of 2, no matter how low your total of weapon skill and str. If the total of those two is greater then 200, then you get whatever the higher multiplier ends out being.

Most sites dont really discuss that because pretty much no one worries much about damage formulas for folks under level 20 with str lower then 100...
