Good solo zones for Magicians? :: EverQuest

I'm sure a thread like this has been started before, but I couldn't find it....

I've been playing a Magician for a little while now. He's a yellow away from 27 and I expect I can get that pretty quickly tonight.

Although I do sometimes group with others, I've really been enjoying his ability to solo.

From the mid-teens up to 20th level I adventured in North and East Karana. At 20th level I went to Marus Seru. This seems to be an excellent zone to solo in and I've been soloing here for nearly 7 levels now. My 31 cleric can still get decent XP here, so I expect I could solo here into the low 30's. But I'm really looking for a change of scenery.

Last night I tried Overthere, but nearly everything I ran into was either green or red. There didn't seem to be much in between at my level. I tried Dawnshroud Peaks and almost immediately had my hide shredded by a wolf which resisted all spells.

I'm thinking of trying Stonebrunt tonight, but thought I would ask here for suggestions.

In particular, I am looking for good zones for a mid-upper 20's mage. But I'm also curious about higher and even lower level zones.

I'm looking for places where a solo mage can hold his own and get reasonably good XP. While good loot or a high XP modifier would be a nice bonus, this is not what I am looking for.

while Alla's is a great all round resource, I believe for class specific stuff like this, you are far better off using specific resources.

so, I'll just point you to the Mag board. Lots of stuff there

South Karanas - Gnoll Spires are a good spot. The spawns are steady enough to not get bored and allow you to regain mana. The FS weapons are good for the bank account too.

Iceclad by the pirate camp is a good spot and many go there for soloing.

Stonebrunt is ok, but with no way to CC adds it can get dicey since all but the snakes aggro you. I used to duo with a ranger there, she fear kited while my pet beat on it from behind. For quality pelt drops I have yet to find a better place.

Netherbian Lair is not too bad. I was never excited about levelling there so the novelty of the place wore off pretty fast.

I thought there should be some good Magician sites out there, but I hadn't been able to find them. Having used www.eqcleric.com, I tried replacing 'cleric' with both 'mage' and 'magician', but I didn't think to try 'mages'.

These are both excellent sites. Thanks for the links!
