If I'm getting a new computer....Follow

...how do I go about transfering my character to the new computer? Are there certain files I need to transfer and then re-install the game? I've looked through the online manual and I couldn't find anything about it, I could have missed it though. Thanks for any help!

Your character is saved serverside, so technically you don't need to do a thing except install EQ on the new box and patch it. If you want your UI settings, friends lists, etc transferred, you'll need to copy any text files with your character name in them and the everquest.ini file as well.

Thanks! I'll do that. I just wanted to make sure so I wouldn't log in with a bunch of "Create a New Character" boxes and nothing else.

EverQuest is far too long and deep a game to be uploading characters from your computer. Too much to lose should your PC crash or what not. It's saved to the server. So you can sign on from any PC with the net/eq. Just reinstall the game. and type in your account name and password at the sign in screen. The only differance will be how the game runs on the new PC. PARDON the fact you will have to reinstall in UIs you may have downloaded, and the way you had it (of the default) UI set up will go back to default as well. Once you do that an readd your friends you will be right back where you started.

It is also saved serverside to keep hackers from tweaking their toons into God mode by changing a few lines of code.

Yeah it all worked for me, and reorganizing my windows and refilling out my buddy list is a small price to pay for the improvment in the game. I actually turned on the music and sound...and then turned it right back off after about an hour of being irritated by the all triumphant music and the SUPER-irritating footsteps. Not to mentionI can actually go outside in Marus Seru without the whole slide show effect. Thanks for the help
