I just installed a custom user interface. It looks really cool. I haven't decided if I will keep it or if I will keep looking for another. I am looking for form and function. I was just wondering what everyone else is using. What is you favorite custom UI and why.

Thanks for the advice.

I use the quartz interface, with a few modifications. Its easy on the eyes and well laid out. It works well for both my casters and my melees. Sadly its no longer updated so allot of the newer windows for me are default looking.

I suppose I could add a link as well :)

I'm a quartz man as well. I just find that it has everything I need/want... I have had to make a few modifications to it though.

I had used Tekyn's Delta UI, until he didn't patch it and wouldn't work properly. I am now using Aya UI.

Concerning my experiences with UIs:
Many of the custom UIs are purely created for use on larger resolutions than 1024 x 768. I tried installing some before realizing this fact (or just assuming that I can reconfigure it to fit my resolution) and had a difficult time with it. The windows just didn't fit right and were not easily scaled. Many are clearly labeled though, and it pays to use one that is compatible with your current settings.

I use the celtic UI. It is for 1024x768 resolution. Below that resolution I just use the default UI. I like seeing my exp bar without having to bring up the inventory window. And I like the extra buttons in the hotbutton window that are for inventory slots, handy when you are carrying a clicky item.

Can anyone recommend a n00b UI for me? One that is straight forward and easy to setup?

+++HIGHLY RECCOMEND CELTIC+++

It's I've been using for the past few months and couldn't dream of going back to default UI.

Custom spell and buff icons, much more streamlined and more pleasing interface...It is AWESOME :)

I haven't checked for any of the new updates, either, but as of now no problems with compatibility with Sony updates

I was using a nice one but they stopped maintaining it and it never had the Combat Ability window added or any of the recent mods. Bear this in mind when looking at nice UIs. Unless you are into bending XML yourself.

EQInterface just posted a new range that does pretty much everything I want called Tablets. I'm gradually changing over to that on my chars. It is modular and fits together well.

I tried some of the more graphically adventurous ones like Steamworks and while pretty it took up way too much space and was downright dangerous. For example clicking anywhere on the spell bar (which was huge) except inside a gem opened the spellbook. Trying to cast a spell in combat and clicking a fraction off had you sitting down in front of the mob Smiley: banghead

Some others looked good but were fixed formats with only two chatboxes built into their "console".

Having spent a long time being "loyal" to the default interface I now feel deprived when I have to open inventory to click something or see my exp bar.

I don't use a themed one, but will grab piece parts that have things I like. Some windows are self-made to remove excess space and re-organize information. Most of the UI is default.

I use the World of Warcraft one seen here:

http://www.eqgui.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9443&highlight=warcraft

I did remove the other chat windows to just one in the center and the made the faded level to 0 so all you see is the text..tons of screen room with this ui and everything is on-screen without having to open a window.

Can anyone reccomend a ui with a numeric mana counter built into it?

No such animal since that information isn't delivered to the UI, period. You could perhaps have one with a percentage number on the bar like they do with hitpoints, but raw mana numbers simply aren't available.

I'm boring and use the default UI. Mostly because I play at a primitive 800x600 and they just don't make UIs for that screen size. The two exceptions are a custom spell window with is 3x3 (last 'gem' being the book) and the same width as the group window so it fits nicely into that column and the other being a modified track window with the filters removed since my bard can't filter track anyway.

/agree with Cobra101

I have used Tablets Future Blue for about 4 months now. It is a clean, minimalistic interface with outstanding features. Have tried most of the others listed here and keep going back to Tablets.

Elmonster, if you are looking for an easy to use and read UI with digital readouts suggest you might wish to take a peek at this one.
