Update 2/12/2004
------------------------
Tribute Update
------------------------

The Tribute system as it was released has caused a greater variance in favor distribution than was intended. In order to make the system more healthy, fair, and balanced, there will be changes made over two updates -- one today and one next week.

The following changes have been made today:

- Favor Maximum: There will be a maximum limit of 200,000 favor that a player character can have available at any time. If a player has accumulated more than 200,000 favor at the time of this change, the character will retain its favor, but will not be able to add to it until it falls below 200,000.

- Favor Value Adjustments to Items: Some items have had their favor value adjusted to be more appropriate. For this update, this will not affect the favor amount that a player has gained by handing in items that have had their favor values adjusted.

For next week's update, we will be adjusting each character's favor amounts based on any items that were handed in to Tribute Masters that have had their favor values adjusted.

We hope you continue to enjoy the benefits of the Tribute system and Gates of Discord.

As long as it stops people stripping the bazaar of usable items I don't mind. I went to look for a 2HS for my new paladin night before last and there were a total of about a dozen 2HS on sale. Normally there are screenfulls of them.

It looks to me like a plat-sink gone wrong. The idea is to drain plat from the game but by providing a way of buying abilities like FT5 for plat they actually encourage people to buy plat from the likes of IGE. As I figured it FT5 costs 103 favor points (=103pp) per 10 mins.

Actually, it worked great.. hehe

Give highly inflated tribute prices, strip the Bazaar of all the low end mudflation twink stuff that's available by the truckload, then chop everyone's Tribute down retroactively. Got rid of tons of items *and* they'll give you whatever tribute SOE feels like giving you. Smiley: wink

fnord.

Sony created a plat and item sink and, like the casino, it worked great. I have had a heck of a time trying to get an upgraded weapon for my monk. It was rare to find a decent Hand-to-Hand weapon. And almost no 2 Hand Blunts were out there.

I don't see how taking ADVANTAGE of something that is obviously broken can be considered legitimate. It was said the item's points value would be determined by it's usefulness to you, and I don't know about anyone else, but I never found Animated Bait to be as useful to me as 1600pp.

So I say, "Let 'em fix it. It was broke."

hmm very simple. whos fault and responsibility is this?

is it the players? is it the beta testers?

no to both.

it was 100% soe ***** up and nothing more or less.

proper business action when you ***** up is not to punish your customers, but to admit you made a mistake, fix it, and move forward alowing those who benifited from your mistake to suffer no penalties as a results of the company ***** up. no further action shall be taken against your customers as it was not their fault you mis marked something.

its like going to a store and buying that new CD for $9.99 instead of $19.99 becuase the clerk made the mistake in labling it wrong. it is a $10 loss for the company, not a $10 upcharge to the customer, as that is called bait and switch and is 100% illegal.

thus soe screwed up, and should just deal with it. do not punish your customers for your mistake.

now to think about how easy this would of been to test.

dev team member in charge of the favor point system should of created a line to verify the favor granted for every item in game. this needed to of been performed during the beta testing. if that member did not think of this, his super should of, and if not the super then the team leader should of, as in the end it is 100% the team leaders responisbility to prevent BS like this.

so i repeat. do not beat your customers over the head with a stick because you screwed up. fix it, deal with it, and move forward.

It unbalances the game to have people running around with 2 million favor points gained with minimal effort. When the game is unbalanced they fix it.

Regardless of it being something that we should not be punished for, SoE has given you some time to use what you have. If you can get 2 hours off of a regen, take it soon before you lose whatever you have gained.

i have no problem with fixing things. i have a problem with beating customers over the head for something that is not their fault.

It sucks, but soe can do whatever they want, fair or not. It's that whole eveil empire thing, man

thus my ***** about they ******* over their customers yet once again.

this is yet an other reason why i refuse to buy any expansion from SoE, or game from SoE until it has been out for at least a month or 2.

i refuse to pay to play a beta game/expansion and that is exactly what is happening now with this expansion. this is little different then when SoL was released 8 months early just to get the christmas cash rush.

Then stop your ***********

I for one agree. People who exploit usually know by the 2nd or 3rd time they do it, that it should not be that easy.

In this those people were exploiting and they should have known this buy the 2nd or 3rd turn in. So I say break it.
