Datarate.txt and Satellite ModemsFollow

Does anyone else use satellite modem to play EQ? I know its not authorized to be used by Sony, but its what I'm stuck with.

I was wondering if anyone had played around with the datarate.txt file before I start to mess with it =/

I played on a 2 way satelite system a little bit.... lag was pretty bad... there is a problem that doesnt involve the actual speed of the system .. think its called latency.

yes, satilite is 164,000 some odd miles above the planet, give or take a few (or is that the moon?) anyways, it is far enough away that uplink requests take a second or two to travel the distance. It's unfortunatly not really going to work for Everquest, you will be laggy all the time. A low datarate number might break the packets up enough so that you don't LD constantly, but the play is going to suck to the point that dial up would be an improvement.

Sorry.
