The City of Mist, also known as Torsis, was built under the guidance of Lord Rak'Ashiir shortly after the fall of the Shissars.

Problems arose when Rak'Ashiir's wife, Queen Neh`Ashiir, grew weary of life in Torsis, had a secret romance with High Scale Kirn, and fled the city with her lover. Rak'Ashiir gradually lost faith in his god, and one night, Cazic Thule sent one of his minions to take Rak'Ashiir's daughter away. This event prompted Rak'Ashiir to lay out the groundwork for the city's demise.

The once-great City of Mist is now home to a host of undead and golem reavers. Some of its temples and towers have withstood the test of time, and the spirits of the King and Queen remain. Bring a rogue friend to pick locks, there are many doors that don't have a key.

Camping the reavers...Lessons learned :(
# Jul 11 2003 at 3:11 PM Rating: Good
Last night I jumped over to CoM to see if anyone was camping reavers. To my delight they were opened. I summoned some friends and we positioned ourselves just outside the locked door and medded. When we were ready, we started pulling the trash out of the room. Well, after 2 trash pulls, our cleric used Wave of Tranquility (I believe) to pacify the rest of the trash and pulled the reaver. 1st mistake...Mr. Black Reaver came out onto the bridge (no adds) and we proceeded to whip his butt. When he was down to about 30%, he took off running along the platform like someone had feared him, what I didn't was that the main tank, while blinded got knocked off the bridge into the water. 2nd mistake (don't fight reavers on the bridge). Well, in the confusion we finally figured out what happened. I ran to the edge to target Mr. Reaver and root him but lo and behold, I was swimming. Mr. Reaver now down to about 25% HP as he beat the crap out of our main tank. I jumped in swords a flying, taunt...taunt...taunt but he didn't stop beating him until he was dead. He quickly turned his attention to the other person stupid enough to attack him (me), and blinded me and pounded me into a jelly. Then our shammy died and the cleric (Divine Intervention only lasts sooo long). Needless to say, the only person left alive was the rogue that was smart enough to stay invis and out of the fight. Though it was very useful for the CR's that followed. Anyway, just thought that you all might find some humor in this. Remember kiddies,
1. Clear out all the trash first
2. Fight the Reaver INSIDE the room
3. If the person with the aggro falls in the water, make sure you stay on the bridge, the mob will come for you when he's ready...

Later and have fun

I solo'd there from 40 to 50 as a shaman way back before Velious came out. With all the new spells and the better equipment available I'm sure you could easily solo in this place.

They redid this dungeon. I doubt you could solo it now, except near the entryway. Not uncommon to see lvl 60+ try to solo and end up training the zone.

took my little 42 BST project toon out there (cause it was the 40 - 45 hotzone at the time) he did just fine, these mobs are perfect for High DPS classes such as BST to solo, yes they hit hard enough to need a real tank, but.... they have quite low HP so with high dps & Bst slow's its not a problem. Yes he's mildly twinked but not somuch that it makes this possible where it wouldnt be without the twinkage

I was there last night with several guildies to get two of our shamans a bit farther along on their epics.

While we were decidedly *not* soloing (61 Rogue, 58 Cleric, 65 War, 65 Beast, 40something Shaman), almost any of us *could* have with ease.

My cleric only healed to have something to do. His one Rez was for a 2nd box shaman (still in his 30's) that died at the zone line while parked and waiting for us to grab him.
I didn't even bother trying to Battle Cleric with him, or nuke. He was on my off box, so by the time I got him positioned to fight, it was over.

The Beastlord had his pet soloing the Black Reavers, and only needed my Rogue along to open a few doors in the Palace.

The mobs are reasonably spread out here, and pretty easy to drop.

My last time in CoM was when my shaman was soloing in his mid 30's...and died. I had been nervous to go back, as a result. Now, he is 55...and I'll take him back soloing with confidence. He still needs *his* epic drops as well, you see.

What's the lowest you can hunt here?
# May 08 2003 at 3:29 PM Rating: Decent
Okay, I have a group of friends who have mid to high level 30 characters (31 DE wizzy, 35 High Elf Cler, 38 VahShir War) and I have a 43 Dark Elf SK who is pretty decently geared. In y'all's opinion, do you think we could hunt here? Or should I catch them up to me before going? Just curious :) Thanks!

You should be able to hunt the yard trash at the entrance, as long as you are smart, pull well, etc.
40 SK solo?
# May 03 2003 at 4:03 PM Rating: Decent
Could a 40 SK solo here without to much trouble, and if so, where at in the zone? From other posts is sounds like this place is similiar to unrest, with the lower mobs outside close to the zone. Just a guess. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

It is considered a city so melee can bind here. It is also an outdoor zone. No dungeon bonus or any other zone exp modifier that I know of.

You know why? Take a look at the list of items that drop there. Nothing of any real value to a rogue drops in this zone. Certainly not to a rogue that is high enough in level to pick the lock on the doors (skill 201 required BTW).

The key is a Stone Key (for door to reaver temple, not for elevator). I know it does not work the elevator. I dont know about rhe locked door on the ramps on the way to Neh Ashirr.

Once used the Stone Key goes on keyring (like seb key, HS key, ToFS key etc) so you can then destroy it.

Hope that helps.

I know there's an elevator key that is NO RENT. As far as I know, there is NO key to the outside, though I have heard rumors of there being a NO RENT key that drops inside, but I assume someone is confusing the elevator key with an outside key. Get a rogue.

Greetings fellow adventurers. I am seeking the best tactic to get to and dispatch Neh'Ashiir for my mage epic piece. I know that it will take a bit of planning and since I am not particularly good at that, I need all the help I can get thanks! Also, if you are on the Tunare server, I could use a hand. Currently looking for a friendly tracker to help me get Quillmane to spawn in South Karana as well.

I have a 49 druid. Took her there with KEI and after 6hrs, and 2 trips to the moon for crack, I had 50. All solo. Also, got both a GJBS and a KK and about 300pp in cash. Mix of blues and light blue. Just work the gate and courtyard, pull the ramps when courtyard is empty. I used my level 5 root, snare earring, and Drifting death. About 2 Driftings and a Starfire for dark blue golem. Most shadows and skellies were 2 Drifting Death and ES Vamby dot. GJBS dropped of apparition at gate 3 spawn. Most of the time I was there by myself.Hope this helped.

This is a BYOG zone.

I went to CoM a few nights ago to help another shaman do the final turn in for her epic. Everything went pretty well, we had 4 groups of 48-54 there, but no enchanters and only 2 shaman. The only problem I had here was pet pathing was the worst ive ever seen. It got to the point where I just gave up and used a spell slot for summon companion ( level 44 spell) because the pet got out of my range constantly, and he wasnt chasing after anything either. If I used /pet guard me he'd wander off or thru a wall. I wound up using /pet guard here and /pet sit to keep him near. The mages didnt report having problems like I did, but its something to be aware of here...make sure before you pull/engage a mob here your pet is near or you may be in for a nasty suprise.

Hire a Rogue to pick the lock.

Make sure said Rogue stays there to let you back out. :)
RE: Keys

Yes, it requires a rogue with a lockpick skill of 200 or more.

I read somewhere that a key does drop inside (like you need it once you're inside), but that is is NO RENT. (Gee, thanks Verant!)

CoM exp 50 plus
# Apr 23 2002 at 9:30 AM Rating: Excellent
This place is completely underused. Behind the castle doors are tons of mobs that give great exp all the way up to lvl60 (solo). A lvl55 plus shadowknight would absolutely kick *** in the castle all on his own.

At around lvl58, about 50% of the mobs are light blue, rest are low dark blues. I have yet to see a green mob in castle (lvl58). They have low hitpoints, hit fairly hard, but miss you (lvl58) much of the time. Any ghost that cast on you, you will resist even with low MR. They die pretty fast, so you can kill a fairly high number of them pretty fast :). An AE group would absolutely rock here. None of them run away at low health, so thats one less thing you need to worry about.

Ther are no safe points in the castle. Ther are tons of roamers in the castle. Think respawn is 24 minutes, but with sooooo many roamers, keeping timing is not really that usefull. You will get adds...right when you don't need it usually. Usually, what I do is clear mobs to my camp spot, carefully. From the front reaver room, I'll pull roamers in hallway and space out their deaths a bit so they dont all come back near same time. I do this just by using only melee with no haste. Normally I just pick a corner near a room. Concentrate on pulling roamers before pulling static spawns. I think even a lvl 52 can single pull with ease in CoM, ther can be a stack of mobs all in a gagglefuk and if I tag one of em, only that one will come. No need for harmoney.

Ther is one safe spot that I know of, but that spot would be illegal. Outside of the hallways, on the openair passways, you can see goo tower. It is right ther, if you can levitate, you can sit on top of goo tower, mobs can't. I don't use that at all, but it's very tempting. I can't FD, so any mob I agro, needs to die. I don't think anyone who can't FD should try soloing here...bring a friend, just one would do. If you are gonna die, do your best to run to openair passway and jump off and out of castle, otherwise, your corpse will be inside castle..which is no problem if you're a rogue, but can be very bad if you're not. Getting in isnt all that hard, on my server, someone is always pulling the front reaver, so just walk in when they do. If your a monk or SK, maybe just FD and /q out so you don't have to worry about getting back in when you log off. The exp here is great, mobs are easily soloable by FDers or a very small group (PLers), you'll never run out of mobs to pull and it will easily take you to lvl60 if you want and if you have more than one mob on you, kill the golem first, they tend to have less HPs than the other mobs.

Falling Mobs

Four of us were doing target practice from the ground on mobs that were along the bridge from the Second Platform to the Final Platform. You can kill the mobs up there since they can't path down (though you can't loot them). However, it is possible the mobs will drop down to the ground and attack you, so be VERY careful (ie trying this tactic solo can get you dead quickly).

This happened to us 4 times. The first to fall down was a Black Reaver, we'd charmed another mob and aggroed it (needless to say, we headed for the exit). The others were wraiths and goos, easily handled by a small group.

Hello all,
I have volunteered to organize a guild raid and was thinking about CoM. I understand that it is a higher lvl zone and will need some advice/tips or something to help me out. I am still researching the zone and equip, and other stuff about it. If i could get an expereinced lvl range that i can tell guild about i would appreciate that also.

Hullo there. Well, I've found that CoM is an under-used zone (at least on the Drinal server) and it is a great alternative to DL. At around 38 you can head over there with a group, or even look for a pick-up group. The loot drops are nothing to rave about but are still a hundred times better than anything you'll find in DL. You can have a group at the zone or you can move into the stables or temple area, depending on your level and the party. Experience went very fast for me here. I came here with my lvl 39 warrior and I came back off and on until 50 or so. If you move even further into the zone, you can stay even longer. Plus over that time, I've gotten a few spell drops, a trance stick, and a bunch of those ever-present wraithbone hammers. Over-all a great zone! Hope this helps some.
#Anonymous, Posted: Sep 17 2001 at 9:10 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Well in the 3 weeks i have been in CoM I have been on a FEW reaver runs collected 2 MoSS but the trance stick has eluded me i have yet to make it on a invisible walkway raid and im interested in finding how to get up there pls I play on the Innorruk server and play a 48 rogue i can say that for reaver raids its a good tactic to have the puller and rogue only take the elevator to try and pull the black reavers this way if the puller gets too many he just gets near the elevator and dies the hiddenand sneaking rogue can drag his corpse to a (hopefully ) waiting cleric in the passage below this saves the group from trains and multipul deaths
