Sebilis was built by Venril Sathir during the height of the Iksar Empire, and was once a stronghold for the Iksars of Kunark.

Following the death of Emperor Ganak and a steady onslaught of slave uprisings, goblin invasions, and forest giant attacks, the Iksar Empire declined in power. Trakanon dealt one of the final blows to the Empire, destroying the city of Sebilis, and was himself mortally wounded as a result.

Presently, the ruins of Old Sebilis are occupied by a clan of Frogloks. Iksar skeletons and ghouls roam the city's old burial grounds while a poisonous, undead Trakanon can be found in a lair far below the main city. Many years following their stronghold's destruction, the Iksars established themselves in Cabilis, far west from the site of a dark moment in their history.

Level 46 is required to enter the zone without a key on the live servers.

Ok folks I deceided I wanted this augment for my Beast lord, hey ac helps when you wear leather. I asked in general chat if anyone had this, several people did and sent me a link, so I sent them a tell and asked where they happened to get it in Seb and what did it drop off of. Armed with this information and my Seb key, I had a friendly druid gate me to the emerald jungle, then did the long run thru Trakanon's teeth to old Seb. I was the only one in zone when I got there and I started killing right from the entrance around to the exit. One person told me that his augment dropped right near the first bridge so I went back and forth killing frogs since everyone said when they started the fight the unmasked changeling started out looking like a frog. I was there for 3 hours killing with out stop watching my buffs fall off, filling my pockets with gems and various loot. Finally when I was about to quit it occured to me what if there was only one or maybe two unmasked changelings in the whole zone and while their pop was random and location was varied maybe you had to kill them where they are hiding. With this hope in my heart I headed out on a one way killing spree down past the jail (where I had not killed) and into the lower level rooms third pull from the room at the bottom the sneaky little froggy turned into the unmasked changeling at about 70% health and I was never so happy to kill a most dashing Iksar Beastlord (they change into who ever has the agro at the moment they dip below 70% health)I looted my augment, drank my field of bone potion and headed home.

Correction to post. Augment can drop off any mob that pops in zone, got one off a beetle. If you are in an area and do not see an unmasked changeling then you have to hunt in areas that others have been killing in. I strongly feel that there are only so many of these mobs in a zone and they will not move around, you have to kill them where they happen to spawn which is random through out the zone.

OK sorry if this is a stupid question, but have the mobs here had the HP boosted recently?

(went away for about three years they were NEVER this hard to kill hehe)

Got a 53 sk with decent gear and I can kill em, it just takes a decent amount of time. Just curious.

Thanks :)

Back in June there was a patch that increased the strength of all pre-PoP (perhaps pre-Luclin, it's been a while - not sure) mobs. HP, AC, ATK, Max Dmg, and even attack speed were all increased. Hit point increase was quite dramatic, usually double or close to it.

As always, of course, it didn't work as they intended. Mobs in zones that were never intended to be strengthened were (some LoY zones were a nightmare) and even greeny trash in Sebilis was hitting for 400+ for a while. Fortunately, they corrected the issue, but hunting in old zones is not, and never will be, quite the same/easy as it once was.

You, sir/madam, are the soul of hypocrisy.

You constantly complain about being 'flamed', yet every sentence you type here is rude to the point of offensive. In fact, one could be forgiven for concluding, based on your unwillingness to simply clarify whom the first post was directed towards, that your sole purpose in posting these is to antagonize and insult other posters. A troll, as it were.

Regardless, I addressed the issue with my first post, and continuing this would be a needless waste of Alla's space, and the time of anyone unfortunate enough to browse through this.

As to the edit you allude to; one - and only one - letter was changed. Seperate -> separate. It's an old mistake that slips through occasionally when typing quickly, and Alla's wouldn't let me edit the post when I noticed it.

To re-iterate (for anyone still reading this looking for information on that key), to enter Sebilis, the Trakanon Idol is needed; a link exists (The Key to Sebilis) at the bottom of the zone description at the top of this page. For entering the pyramid, though, I'm unaware of any key capable of opening the door; you may want to befriend a rogue.

My post was not a translation, but a reply, and very much in kind. As they say, don't dish it if you can't take it.

jagweir wrote:
The post wasn't directed toward you. And I was WELL aware of the date of the post that I WAS referring to.

You have yet to clarify which posts and which key you were referring to. The logical assumption, based on your reply, would be the posts from four years ago asking about the key to Sebilis. More on that later.

jagweir wrote:
Another thing, to state that I wasn't going to flame and turn around and do it anyway isn't called a 'grammatical error'. It would be closer to a 'false statement'.

My original statement: "Sadly, I managed my way through the grammatical atrocity that comprised your post." The next sentence was a separate statement and, perhaps, should have been placed into a new paragraph to disassociate it with that sentence. I simply prefer to avoid one sentence paragraphs. Nevertheless, one had nothing to do with the other, and I apologize if it seemed that way.

jagweir wrote:

Perhaps you should read it again yourself - some highlights:

You were not attempting to help. You were being a rude, arrogant, @#%^. This is, and has always been, the one thing that sets me off.

jagweir wrote:

English major, but not currently teaching it. And my issue was not with your grammar, but your arrogance. I simply couldn't reply to your message without pointing the other out.

jagweir wrote:

You freely admit that the posts you claim to be replying to are over four years old and you still try to pass your post off as an attempt to help? Please re-read my post. As I said then, and will say again, your entire post is nothing more than an insult directed at those posters assuming that the link you refer to - the quest for the key to Sebilis - existed over four, going on five years ago. It was pointless and rude, and not at all helpful.

Sadly, I managed my way through the grammatical atrocity that comprised your post. It seems asinine to say "I'm not going to flame" and the proceed to do so, but in the face of your staggering misconceptions, it's really rather humorous.

The link you refer to gives information on the key required to enter the zone.

First, if you are referring to the earliest posts seeking information about the key to enter Sebilis, do remember that they were made over four years ago! Regrettably, I cannot tell you whether the link to the key quest existed then, but if these are the posts you refer to, your blatant assumption that it did is ridiculous.

Secondly, if you are referring to the more recent posts about the key to the pyramid, a short exploration of the zone would show you that - no, the Trakanon Idol does not grant access to this area of Sebilis. I'm unaware whether a rogue is actually required or if there is an actual key for the door.

If you were talking about something else entirely, then in my defense, attempting to translate your post nearly gave me a migraine.

And yes, my post was not much kinder than yours, but meh. It's late, and I'm cranky!
New mob
# Dec 06 2006 at 9:23 AM Rating: Decent
Sorry for the sketchy detail ( found this late last night, and I am not at home now), but there appears to be a new mop since the patch. Its a changeling, or shape shifter, it spawns as a froglok, looks like one, and is named as being one, but when you get it down to about 70% it changes into your form. It says something about a shape shifter haves been revealed. It drops a Stone of Might, which is an augment. It appears that it spawning is completely random. In 3 hours it popped 5 times. Also he the same level as the froglok and isn't any harder to kill.

New "changling" mobs are now in all the hot zones. They drop the new augs put in via the 12/5/06 patch. This is from the dev as posted in EQ forums. There were also hints of a number of other new items added as drops in the new hot zones.

My lvl 19 Ranger got an aug (sorry, at work, don't have stats to post) in Unrest last night. It was quite a surprise to be fighting myself... glad I won :)

yes a shaman or necro around 58+ can solo here all day, make your way down to the guard area and have at it, at higher lvls you can invis and simply run past all the front mobs. Sometimes you will get one to aggro on you but it is not to hard to kill it, i do it all the time at 65. Even lower lvls can solo the front area, they can drop spells and gems.
The Freakin locked door
# Oct 11 2004 at 9:00 PM Rating: Default
Ok, there is this door before the reet frogs area, you can open it by clicking a stone beside it. Once you crossed on the other side off this door you can't re-open it, even if you clic on a similar stone biside it, because you get a "this door is locked" message AND even unlocking the "stone" only makes the thing turn on it self !!! WHAT THE HELL?

This is just a heads up to anyone that cant gate and is going to hunt reet frogs, bring a gate potion or a necro and a cleric, because your gona need them.

And if any Everquest programer is reading this, put the right triggers at the right place, not on the stone beside the freakin' door.
RE: The Freakin locked door
# Aug 16 2005 at 10:12 AM Rating: Decent
You can reopen the door from the inside 3 different ways. The first option obviously is with a lock pick if your a Rogue. The 2nd option is to open the door with the spell "Eye of Zomm" with either a Stalking Probe that you can buy in the Bazaar, or with the following Items with this effect: Batling Eye, Clay Bracelet, Crystalline Orb, Holgresh Elder Beads, Singing Steel Helm. The 3rd option is to change yourself into a gnome with an illusion potion or double shrink yourself and then sit down as close as possible to the locked door, and then use the F9 key if I remember correctly to change the perspective / view on your screen, then pan the view as needed until the screen shows the stone / pot on the other side of the door. Clicking on it with your mouse pointer will reopen the door. Enjoy and Good Luck.

After being stuck behind this for about 30 minutes trying to get through it (as a Rogue, lock pick only makes the pot spin around), a friendly juggernaut was kind enough to path through the door and open it for me. So if you're patient and super invisible, a mob will eventually open it.

May take less time to get a gang together to take down whatever mob drops the spell, than to farm for plat and let someone else be the hero. I got fed up looking to buy for some level 52+ druid spells, but I ended up getting most of what I needed by helping a bard friend hunt for epic drops in Skyfire. Not only did I get my spells, I got great xp and saw some people take down Ragefire. A lot more fun than plat farming alone.

Ya

Pick a camp and go. Careful with fungi because they CH and even with mez there will be lots of trouble (at least breaking camp). Juggs 62 - 70 was a great moneymaker for spells and gear, but as a necro, you really don't need to gear up til later levels. But it helhelps.

I suggest nox beetles and Jugg camp near entrance. Brogg and nearby camp too.

Many areas have a lot adds so be prepared to mez up to 2 at a time!

# Mar 13 2003 at 2:28 AM Rating: Decent
My second time into the zone last night, with an an incredible group camping the disco. Whenever some called for a camp check, someone always yelled "froglok underwear salesman!" I thought it was a joke at first, then after an hour there was a lot of cheering, and that group saying they got the robe for their monk, and much rejoicing ensued. They tried to link it for the zone, but couldn't for some reason. Flaming something, i think. Didn't see a flaming anything on the zone drop list, however.

Smiley: confusedSo my Question is this: who and where is the "Froglok underwear salesman" and what the heck is the monk robe it drops?

Pretty good guide. A few notes...if you do a camp check, NOBODY will ever say "necro camp", its real name is "Guard". The Necrosis scarab is the named pop there and does SUMMON, so be careful. The Guard camp is very soloable with a 55+ druid. Very good loot at this camp, I average about 1500pp an hr here. Also, the B1 place is NOT a safe place to med. 3 wanderers walk by this place and will aggro. I would suggest climbing up on the hill across the bridge of B1. For most of the first level, enchanters are nice for adds, but all too often, you cant find one when you need one. Rangers/druids are more than adequate to park those adds.

For those with good resist gear, the casters are fine game. With a 180MR, 200+ CR/FR, I just root, snare em, throw on 5k of dots then duck out of their line of sight to avoid any more nukes. Only the Ilis casters have a chance at making me uncomfortable. The krupp chanters are a bit touchy too for my 58 Druid.

At level 58, I can solo the jail, and about half of the time can single pull the necros. Very mana intensive, as they slip out of root frequently and hit very hard. Good lot here as well, the necros drop nice gems about 50% of the time and the bug about 90%.

Before PoP, you'd have a good chance of getting a group here, it was almost overcamped. But now, thanks to PoP, most people that're 55+ have gone to the plains. I had to get away from OS because the most people there at any time was about 10, and when it's that underpulled, OS is a DANGEROUS EVIL PLACE.

If no one is pulling the IZ-OZ route, you can get stuck quite easily.

I've recently moved to Velks Lab. I think the EXP is comparable to the normal camps in OS, and the loot is decent, but pales to that of OS.

VL is about 30x safer than OS, you can flee to zone if things get out of hand, unlike OS. In my last few days of OS, I was in a 5 person party (out of 9 people in the zone, on a WEEKEND AFTERNOON). We were in Disco when something catastrophic happened, cleric LD or something of that nature, and we had a wipeout. When we came back, the zone was EMPTY. CR took 2.5 hours of fighting mostly naked, because a good majority of mobs in OS can see invis, (Rogue Hide/Sneak CR abilities are severly limited) from IZ to the GOz area before another 5-6 people showed up and helped us clear the area. I don't know how things are on your server, but I've heard a lot of people on the boards here complaining about the lack of people in the 50+ non-PoP zones.
