This is the version of the zone that was revamped during LDoN. The Mines of Nurga are part of the large underground home of the goblins. Long ago the Mines were a vast network of busy tunnels, now all that remains are the ruins of the functioning mine and slaves busy doing the work by hand. It is home to a large and diverse tribe of goblins, the Cleaving Tooth Clan.

Seriously?!?!?!? The Nurgopedia -- sadly gone now -- made references.

I loved Nurga -- great solo zone for a BL.

Lockjaw TPS Server zone status
# Jan 09 2016 at 1:01 AM Rating: Decent
On 2015 TPS new TPS servers, Nurga is starting off in its original, crappy form. This means mobs all roughly the level 33-44 range, none of the nameds in the circa 2003 re-vamp (Stabber Remy, Traitor Elfuin et al), and none of the level scaling from the re-vamp where there were 4-5 tiers of mob level. Too bad.

Been soloing toons 58 - 65 here. Can get about 2 - 3 AA in 30 min with Vet Rewards and build snark faction for old world raids. Solo main exp is about one yellow a night solo (30 minutes with vet rewards). (Fun to bank in chardok)

Solo with Rog / War / Monk / Wiz / Cleric (All have full vet rewards and bazaar junk equipment) no raid level twinks.

Slow easy but a long walk. (POK to OT to FM to Nurga). Bring INV potions and skinspike potions to set up war and cleric. Pull to zone out so you have safety. Druid dire charm works great here. Spawn rate about 20 minute so be aware. Some mobs gate and can train you but after level 61 - 62 they do not agro friends for the most part so one mob at a time.

Loot is junk, quests in zone are junk. But 2 - 3 AA in 30 minute is not. I have farmed 600 AA in the zone on 6 toons. AAs are a must for solo rog war monks.

I have been soloing a 53 shadowknight here without much trouble. Single pulls seem to be very doable. I have had to FD a time or two when a wanderer joins in on a double pull (making three mobs).

can I play here?

Been soloing in Nurga since early 50s as a Beastlord. Absolutely doable by a ranger, not sure about enchanter based upon Sphere's reporting.

There's also a 50ish Shadowknight who likes to hunt solo there and he does great.

Nice little zone for soloing.
can I play here?

I took my 53 Enchanter there and soloed alittle, they hit hard but was able to solo the goblins right at the bottom of the waterfall. A healer would have helped, I used a pet only had one add while I was there and was able to mez it.

I mainly wanted to look around the zone but I didnt get very far inside.

Does anyone know if the Experience Bonus is still valid after the revamp?
RE: Experience Bonus
# Sep 13 2004 at 2:15 PM Rating: Decent
Yes the Experience bonus is still valid from what I can tell!

I was 2 boxing with 65 mage and 56 shammy, shammy was able to get around 2 and a half bulbs of Blue Reg Exp in 45 min. While mage got 1 full yellow bar of AA Exp.

It takes me about 2.5 hours in Hate for the same experience. The lvl of the mobs are the same between the 2 zones, unless you are in the top end of the tier 2 or tier 3 mobs in Hate.

Look at this site go to Liabrary section and then at "Zone Exp Modifiers. You will see that not all zones are created equal. I haven't found another site that gives more detail on this. Although the zones that have been compared are not listed.

I've been hunting in Nurga for about the past three weeks on Stormhammer, so I figured I'd lay out the new revamp for those of you wondering about it.

First of all, the gobs here are now level 40-50, and are actually pretty easy for their level. There are 6 or so types:

SK - Blood Knights, Death Knights, etc.
Shaman - Spirit Chanter...
Necro - Death Casters
Wizards - Flame Chanters, Flame Dancers, etc.
Warrior - Overseers, Rats, taskmasters
Rogue - Stabbers, Sneakers, Black Guard(?)

The aggro range in Nurga is pretty tiny, and nothing in the zone sees invisible.

There is a named for each kind of gob in the zone, dropping a rare and a common item, along with a quest item.
Common mobs also drop quest items like rings, bracers, idols, and so on. SAVE THESE! They come in handy.

There is a Ring event here, it has to do with freeing slaves and is pretty close to the dungeon entrance near the track rooms.
Basically, you'll find a named NPC that talks about having you help it escape from the mines, but she needs a couple items from the zone. pretty sure the items were:

1. Iron key (dropped from a named taskmaster near the Droga exit to Nurga).
2. Some 'R' named substance from a named mob in the secret room through the underwater tunnels in the back.
3. Another item that I'm forgetting the name of, but it drops up in the well room in the back.

Hand those 3 items to the slave and you'll start the event.

5 goblins spawn near the slave, 4 reavers and a sargent. The Reavers are level 50 and have about 20-25k hitpoints. The Sargent has about 30-40k hitpoints. They are all warrior mobs, so and they hit around their level, meaning 120-150ish.

You have 2 hours from the time the event starts to kill 6 waves including a named Mine Overseer (levle 51, summons, flurries).
We did it tonight for the first time and completed it (it had been broken on SH), and the named dropped NOTHING, but we got it done in about 1 hour 20 minutes.

Once you kill all six waves, the slave despawns, and this is where it gets interesting; The slave will respawn where they say they lived when you first hailed them in the mines.
We had a Iksar, so when we finished the ring, the iksar popped in Lake of Ill Omen near Cabillis.

From that point on, she's a quest NPC, giving out really nice items for quest items from Nurga.

So, in order for these quest NPCs (there were 2 at Fironia Vie, 2 in OT outpost, 2 sarnaks in LoIO, and this Iksar) to become quest givers, you have to free them first, which means a raid for levels 45-55 just to free one slave, then you have to loot the items from the gobs to bring to the freed slave once you know what they want.

Can you say TIMESINK? Yes, it's a huge timesink, as the common mob quest item drops are RARE AS HELL, but the rewards are very much worth it.

My Bard got a really nice cape that has +15 DEX/AGI +25ish HP/MANA, +6ish to PR and DR and Aura of Health (or whatever that 1hp per tick regen is on items).

Another item we got was a Extended Enhancement 3 priest belt that was loaded with stats.

Oh yeah, and we got a nice Melee class Necklace that had Vengence 1 on it, and some nice resists and HP/Mana.

So, in order to get the "phat loots" you have to free the slaves so they can spawn as quest NPCs. Like I said, we got ZERO loot for freeing them, but once they're quest NPCs, the loot is good.

The quest items are all tradeable, so you can possibly buy them in the bazaar, as long as the slaves are freed on your server :)
RE: Nurga Revamp info
# Jul 21 2003 at 3:21 PM Rating: Decent
I also did one of these quests(For the iksar lady by Cabilis in LoIO) and got a no drop caster only mask with my SK.

Crafty Mask of Awareness
8ac
6 cha 8 int 25hp 40 mana 12dr/pr
Recommended level of 47
Wiz/Mag/Enc/Nec
All

Or such, maybe have forgot a stat. Not a bad mask, but Sony really needs to make the rewards droppable or put a response string to the quest givers to "What reward" (since they mention a reward) that tells people which classes can benefit from this quest. So, if you're interested in these quests please /feedback, or at the very least post which slaves give what reward here so people might not waste so much time.

Have just finished doing this quest reward item seems to be somthing useful for your class was ok item but i had better already. Collecting the items requested will take a long time you will have to kill lots of placeholders to make the mob type you need pop and then they will rarely drop what you want. I killed 247 mobs and the placeholders to get the 3 items i needed.

WARNING LEVELS CHANGED
# Jul 12 2003 at 4:22 AM Rating: Decent
Nurga now has much higher mobs then before.
Everything cons Lt blu to my 54. With the occasional dk blu.

Placement of mobs remains the same. But gone are the whipcrackers and the like they are now all one form of caster or another.

If you plan on going there based on the info about the zone don't. It is all wrong now and you will be walking in to your death.

Add 10 levels to the stated hi lows of the mobs and your probably close. To be safe assume the zone is now 15 levels higher.

I am a 54 necro and I could come here and set my pet up and go to bed and reap the rewards of the faction I was getting while sleeping. Not so any more. before everything ( and i do mean everything) in the zone was green to me. Now everything is lt blu with a few dk blu now and again.

The mobs near the zone in from FM are the levels you describe.

We took 4 people levels 57-59 through here. All the areas with the tracks were green and light blue to 59. Once you get back to the caves portions, it gets harder. We ended up camping in a dead end cave near the Droga zone where all mobs were solid dark blue to 59. Made for some decent XP. Loot wasn't grand, but we did get a couple gems (one diamond). A very nice crawling dungeon, since we had few problems with wanderers or overpulls.
swim up waterfall ?
# Jun 19 2003 at 2:37 PM Rating: Decent
I went there last night with my 32 VASH BST. I did the shrink thing and I still can't swim up the small waterfall to my right after zoning in ... is there some trick to it ?? I ended up falling down the big waterfall where I proceeded to die quickly after I was swarmed by 5 goblins. Ended up buying a gate potion so I could get out of there after corpse retieval ... So, is there a way to get up that waterfall so I dont have to run through the mine to get out ?

I had the same problem being a Vah Shir - but cast shrink on myself twice (you shrink even more) and went right up the waterfall with no problems whatever. Probably works on Ogre/Troll as well.
RE: swim up waterfall ?
# Jul 12 2003 at 4:27 AM Rating: Good
there is a slight trick to the waterfall you have to be swimming to go up it. Standing in the water and running at it will get you nowhere.

What you need to do is face the waterfall and then move over to the right wall you will see a small area of deeper water here. that is where you start from. Look straight up and swim at the wall and you will shoot straight up the falls.

Was having trouble getting up myself after having done it once before so I decided to see why and this is what i discovered. I think any race except ogres/trolls can swim up the falls. I dont think the water is deep enough for them to actually be swimming.

I play a 42 beastlord on the test server and thought I would check out Nurga. As far as I can tell Nurga has the same mobs, they just tweeked them a bit. The mobs that I have seen are dark blue to yellow (although I didn't get too far past the waterfall) the dark blue mobs are hitting fast and hard in the 80-90 range plus some HT for 400. Watch yourselfs on the live servers for an update if it hasn't happened yet

Zone changes May 03
# May 03 2003 at 2:59 PM Rating: Decent
I noticed today that you can no longer swim up the waterfall to the right of the zone in. I don't know how long that has been changed. Also, Overseer Dublish or whatever his name is, is green to me at lev 50. He was higher I think. Haven't made a complete circuit of the zone yet, so I can say a whole lot. The sleeping ogre is indiff and didn't aggro when I was sitting right next to him (I'm a WE, Tunare ranger). Lev 50's can single pull easily..had no adds all morning. Still some light blues for xp with the bonus at this level. Goblin brew and Salts are not that common a drop ..one in 10 maybe. Don't know if that is different. Not hard to walk around the circle to get back to the exit point. Need lev and invis to get across the tracks/pits though.
RE: Zone changes May 03
# May 20 2003 at 7:12 PM Rating: Decent
Actually, you can swim up that waterfall, but not if you are a large race. My gnome wizard has no issues going straight up the waterfall, but my barbarian beastlord needs to cast shrink on herself before she can swim up the falls.

People who say 'you don't use fear in dungeons' have obviously never been to Nurga. With wide rooms and corridors where mobs can run without passing spawn points to pick up adds, a large part of the dungeon past the waterfall and tracks is practically designed for fear-kiting; look around and you'll find at least 10 single or double goblin spawn points where you can safely fear-kite. Money is decent too, I was making maybe 150pp an hour here, plus Chardok faction plus Goblin Skins and Mineral Salts that I could have sold in the Bazaar for a lot of money if I wasn't using them for faction; and I've often had to leave four or five shrouds of nature to rot in a single trip.

Summon a pet, augment it, cast Screaming Terror if you're splitting a double spawn, Dooming Darkness, Fear, Venom of the Snake, and let the pet beat it down. Usually Fear will run out not long before the mob goes into the death walk, so the pet won't get hit much. Once the spawns are split it's much easier since you don't need to worry about adds.

The exception are the numerous caster mobs which you must keep feared the whole time to prevent them gating, healing or nuking: I pulled them with Invoke Fear (50-second fear rather than 20-second), sent the pet, Dooming Darkness as they ran past, Venom of the Snake, and lifetap for nukes if the pet isn't doing enough damage; I didn't bother to Cancel Magic for their damage shield, as the pet will take damage, but not enough to be a real danger.

Even at 44-45 the XP is decent: the goblins start to go light blue but you can kill them so fast with the new pet that the XP still adds up in a zone with a reasonable XP bonus... I didn't even bother fearing most of the melee mobs, just cast one DoT and let the pet tank, only fearing the casters and warders. Biggest problem is that when a single Necro can solo about a third of the dungeon, it's hard to find a time when the place isn't camped!

Levitating down into Nurga ... while setting up for the "Whistler" hunt mentioned ... I noticed a 'shelf' off to the side in waterfall room. Being curious, I stick my head in and find a book called "sealed journal". No "a" to it, and no way to open it or figure out what the HECK it is. Have searched here on ALAKAZIP, EVERLORP, CASTERSREAM, and just about every site i can find or think of trying to find out what this 'no drop' book might be used for ... grrrrrr.
Wanna make a quest junkie NUTS? Give him an item he suspects is for a quest .. but don't leave a clue to what the quest might be.

ANYONE got a clue? Sheesh!!!
