This is the version of the zone that was revamped during LDoN. The Mines of Nurga are part of the large underground home of the goblins. Long ago the Mines were a vast network of busy tunnels, now all that remains are the ruins of the functioning mine and slaves busy doing the work by hand. It is home to a large and diverse tribe of goblins, the Cleaving Tooth Clan.

Frontier Ore DONE!
# Nov 30 2002 at 12:04 AM Rating: Decent
WOOT! ... Took a SK this time, friend of a friend brought him in with my rogue. Slaves were a cake walk and low . . after only 5 or 6 dropped the ore. Off runs my rogue to BB to do the turn in (had the gem, and the 500p waiting) and lo .. some Ogre PC is KILLING the mob for easy XP!!!
Sigh. Sit down to wait, figure he's got to get tired sometime .. and the 60th Lvl Ogre almost dies fighting our mob .. cause he goes LD.

Rogue hails the mob ... away from the ogre, to keep it off him .. and does the turn it. Whistler is now in the possession of one 40th lvl Rogue, Named Pril Slyckfinger. Hehe. Thank you LD Ogre.

one note of WARNING ::: after the turn in . computer froze up solid. Keyboard worked but couldn't open inventory, mouse wouldn't right click .. ended up /q to get out and reset. Came back and everything was fine ... soooo maybe the quest is still bugged. BUT it worked for moi. WOOOT

Nurga's Slaves Nerf'd
# Oct 31 2002 at 3:52 AM Rating: Decent
Well, dazang. Went to Nurga with my 36th lvl rogue to check out the mobs and the lay of the land tonight, Oct. 30, 2002.

Goblins mostly dark blue, so wandered thru just checking things out and spotting where the Burynail slaves were. Found them, in all 3 spots where they spawn. All of them conned indifferent to halfling Brell follower, and red like blood on all the slaves, isk/sarn/bury .. whatever.

Brought in my 53rd Lvl Shaman, up'd a pet and tried to slow burynail slave ... and nearly got wiped. Slaves are all almost totally MR. Slows, roots, dots were totally ignored. Got one nuke to hit .. usually does 516dd max. Hit for 84pts. OOM, pet dead, time to gate.

Brought back my rogue, and recruited some help from a 56th Lvl Necro, the two slaves (burynail and sarnak) that ran my shaman out were at the enter, at the base of the waterfall.
So, necro jumped down and tried to take the burynail, guess he couldn't see the Sarnak slave ... EVAC EVAC EVAC!!!

We came back to try one more time, and learned something ... Necro was able to send his pet down the waterfall, and have it attack the burynail without agroing the sarnak slave. Burynail slave ate Necro pets like candy, but after the 6th or 7th one, burynail slave died a much deserved death. *xp for 56th Lvl Necromancer and this zone has a 12% bonus on it*

Rogue jumps down, yes you can land safely in the center .. or take 451pts dam from the fall.

Sad news was, no Frontier Ore dropped. Hope the info on using multi pets helps, hear that there's a spell that lets casters summon mutli pets at 60 now.

Good Hunting all

New drops
# Aug 21 2002 at 1:41 PM Rating: Decent
Goblin forged stuff drops from random goblins now. It is not lore and sells from 10pp+ to a vendor (sold bracer for 11pp and legs for 13pp so far).

I do not think Gi is dropping now.
Zone revamp
# Jul 30 2002 at 4:08 PM Rating: Decent
Nurga had been changed again. All goblins are still there, no new spawns and yes, warders still spawn. But they added slaves again, that are red to level 40 now and were indifferent to both troll and woodelf.

A new named spawn was added: "a feigned slave",
which is again red to 40 and can be easily found if you jump down the entrance fountain go to T-intersection and make left. He is lying on the ground in a fairly big dead-end room.

I can not confirm if warders still drop SoN, but I would assume it, even though 6 killed warders droped only opals (common drop). I guessed it goes well along with estimated 10% rare, but never happened to me before (6 in a row, ouch).

Ohh yeh, smithing components drop much less frequently now. I would say the drop rate had been cut 3 times or so.

Still need to check what slaves drop.
RE: Zone revamp
# Aug 11 2002 at 9:31 AM Rating: Decent
We got 2 SoN during the last 2 nights (5 hours stay each), dropped by warders.
During this time we got 2 stacks of mineral salt, 2 stacks of ore and a couple of green skin.
Frontier Ore

Has anyone actually seen frontier ore drop recently?

I have seen alot of old posts that it isn't dropping anymore but nothing recent. Can anyone verify that it still drops, and when you last saw a drop.

Thanks

New ore?
# Jun 07 2002 at 4:40 PM Rating: Decent
There is a new rare drop in Nurga: Brick of Deathmountain ore or something like that, wt 15.0. Drops from goblins that are much more nastier now and rate is like 20% or so. Got 2 pieces from 8 dead gobs.

Anyone knows where it goes? EQTraders do not have any info on it yet
RE: New ore?
# Jun 25 2002 at 8:30 PM Rating: Decent
Well, we all know everything about the ore and recipes, thanks to EQTraders (gotta love that 18 delay piercer). Monsters are of very reasonable strength now as of 6/24/02. Druid 38 and SK 36 had non stop action there and exp is ok.

Btw, remember that fountain at your left when you zone? If you move slow to the edge and jump from the middle you would not take any damage - no need to levitate. Not kidding, feel free to try :)

Is anyone aware of other zones (or parts of zones) that have fear pathing like the spiders in nurga do?
#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 03 2001 at 10:19 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yeah I've seen it in WC too. Was hunting with my monk toon there and the decaying skellies seemed to ALWAYS spawn on top of each other (not that this was a problem, *cough*Cane of the Tranquil*cough* =D)

Come on people this has got to be the most under-camped but easiest indoor EXP zone in the game for lvl 30ish people. But there is no Quests? I beg to differ. I believe there are 2 quests that are undiscovered and lie within this zone. One Quest has to do with the Chant Stones and the Skull from te OVersser. The Other one has to do with the stones, HiccoLite and Frotier Orb. Might be more. If you got any info pleeze post.

I got a NODROP item called "niccolite" off "A Burynai Slave" today. The item looks like a green stone and is NODROP. Anyone know what it is for?

(Of course, the last post in here was November. Nobody even looks in here anymore. So much for Verant upping the experience bonus making the zone see more traffic.)

Had a guild raid here group consisted of myslef 36 ranger, and others mid 30s and higher lvls in the guild, another full group of 40+. We did greta till we got to the dining room to try and camo for shroud of nature. We all died in about 20 seconds and it took us hours to get back in for the bodies. Great xp but dangerous.

Iksars do well in here
# Oct 12 2000 at 4:16 AM Rating: Default
When you zone in you notice that huge drop to your left don't you?? Quite scary eh? Well, if you're an Iksar it won't be. With our good swimming skill you can actually swim back UP the waterfall and back to the zone entrance. Makes you feel good when the rest of the group has to evac out and you can just swim out. =)

Come on people, you're not using your brains. why do iksars swim well? they have high skill. so that means not just iksars could swim up that waterfall. just those of us who know how to swim right. not that slow doggy paddle shiit. =P

if you have a shaman with you to shrink people everyone can swim up the falls , large races may need to be shrunk twice though. its purely a size issue

Can't bind in ANY kunark dungeons. Evidently being able to bind in dungeons was a bug that VI didn't want to continue. <shrug>
a few small corrections

Siacay got her directions reversed. The climbable waterfall is to the right as you zone in. The large races (Ogre, Troll, Barbarian) require shrink to be able to climb it.

Another thing, this zone is actually good from 30 up. Lower level groups can simply hunt goblins instead of progessing farther down and hunting spiders or Burynai. One small hint. If you're going to fight more than 2 (3 max), don't, just invis and skip the room. There are so many paired spawns (except for maybe Burynai at the bottom) that you really never have to fight more than two. Also, pathing can be weird. In one room mobs will teleport around to get at whoever they happen to be mad at and in one room the mobs just stop when feared. (No I will not disclose this room as I'm pretty sure it's considered an exploit).

And lastly, a warning. This is the only place I've ever seen it happen (other than the newbie zones which is actually something different occurring I think). The goblins, and possibly the spiders and burynai but I haven't hunted them, can double spawn, as in 2 goblins spawning in one spot instead of one.

Shrink? Bah! Just look up, get a running start and jump up the waterfalls. I've done it several times with my Barbarian Shaman.
RE: a few small corrections
# Dec 28 2000 at 9:49 PM Rating: Decent
I can think of one other place the double spawn happens normally. The bandits in West Karana (the ones with the nice red sashes) can either spawn singally or in pairs. If two spawn in one spawn spot they are identical in level and apperance. This means that a bandit camp there with 3 spawn spots can have up to 6 bandits in the camp.

YES - that damn spawning bug you see in east commons, right? the one where like 5 bixies will PILE onto a spot, then eventually move and you get a bixie swarm - same thing with the bears in west commons. WATCH out - if it's hanging in midair, there will be at least 2 attacking you as soon as you hit it

No, actually I think what was meant is that any of the spawn spots in this zone (Gobbies for sure, anyway.) can have a double pop...

For instance...

Taking the right hand waterfall after zoning in, you swim up it and find a pool, with a right that has water in it, and a left leading to dry ground. After taking the left and climbing the short rise there, you see 2 gobbies. (Could be any of the type for the dungeon, such as Whips, Slinkers, Firedowsers, etc...) Occasionally you will find a Spider in one of these to spots, and rarely see 2 of the same type (usually, when this happens) in the same spawn location... Hence, you have 3 or possibly 4 at this spawn instead of the normal 2...

I've seen it happen a few times that there were 4 here, and since they were all green at the time, took them out one at a time, to clear the path for anyone coming in behind me.

Also, when you take the left and fall (lev) downt he left waterfall, and get into the room with the 3 spawns near it, I have seen 6 mobs here, 2 at each of the locations. (seen this 1 time) This could mean that a lower level group might have a hard time taking the room, unless they have adequate crowd control.

HTH,

This is how some spawn rotations are done in Droga and Nurga.. also the 'Villa' in Droga has a spawn table very similiar.

The are a certain number of spots in the area which are all on the same spawn rate, so if a goblin you killed 20 mins ago died, he actually can respawn any of the spots. Rare spawns are also worked into this kind of table. (Has to do with camping Shroud too, don't tell anyone)

zone-in stratagys
# Aug 24 2000 at 5:12 PM Rating: Good
ok, when you zone in, you come to a pool of water - to the left is a high waterfall which small charachters or shrinked charachters can swim up - to the right is a helluva drop to a pool of water, with a cave at the bottom. i havent gone to the right, but the left path is fun - start with some gobbys, same kinds you will find outside, and end up in the spider area. the spiders are great for xp, with a full lvl 35 group - somewhat like spiders in lower guk. past the spiders you'll find the buryani area, which is fairly well covered by natsuko in his earlier post today.

My druid first came here at 49, and got xp on some of the rockshapers and cenobytes. This zone is great for many reasons:

1) you can invis/camo to the area where the rockshapers and cenobytes or whatever you are fighting are. Only the spiders see through invis but you can avoid their areas since NOTHING wanders here.

2) once at your quarry, things don't seem to have a very wide aggro range either and at least in the case of the rockshapers/cenobytes they are fairly far apart. A group can start at either end and work their way along.

3) Any cenobyte has a chance to drop the burynai legion GI, ac 14 plus 25 mana, plus 2 dex, resembles a cryosilk or robe of foci graphic, but kind of a brown with nice detailing and those eyes at the top. The item is lore. You kill rockshapers to make cenobytes spawn, who then have a chance of dropping the robe. While it is fairly rare and takes time to get if you are alone, a 6 person or so group could each get one AND lots of xp doing this up to level 45 plus. The cenobytes do heal a lot when hurt, so 49 min level or so and ability to cast/damage shield is pretty needed to take them out solo. A group would need heavy firepower, healing, damage dealing also. 35 might be too low, not sure.

This area is EXTREMELY under used. As a 52 druid on an established server (tribunal) I am almost ALWAYS the only person here when I go, or at least the only person doing the rockshapers cenobytes. Since they are no xp I hardly bother unless I am in the area and getting a robe. I have sold a robe for as much as 600 plat but I find them more practical as trades. For example, I managed to get a forest loop from someone for 600 plat of istead of the 1 k or so that people usually sell for by kicking in a burynai legion gi into the offer. I find trading more fun than just outright selling, and they probabaly had a twink who could use it or a friend.

The Gi is any robe wearing cleric model class (in other words, dwarf clerics can't wear it - no robe model for the 3d character)
