SWAMP OF NO HOPE: This area is sandwiched between Cabilis, the Field of Bone, Firiona Vie, and Trakanon's Teeth. It is a "hub" of sorts for the Frogloks of Kunark, who built a large city here close to the water source which feeds the swamp. The Iksars of Cabilis, while enemies of the Frogloks, have allowed the Frogloks to keep their outpost in their own part of the swamp.

The swamp itself is maintained by a water source stemming from Trakanon's Teeth. Travelling through this reservoir alone is not recommended as it is infested with highly aggressive, bloodthirsty ravengers. Be watchful of the wandering undead and local plantlife while traversing these age-old wetlands.

One of the last parts of the quest is to "explore the four pillars with the statue of an Iksar head" which I found, but the quest progression did not activate.

Does anyone know if this quest is broken? My level 12 Iksar Beastlord is very unhappy.

Went over to the left of the zone in, that area where, normally there are a bunch of mosquitos and leeches. Well imagine my suprise when I run blindly over there and bam 20 froglocks and no mosquitos ar leeches. They pounded my scaly behind into the dirt in about 2.2 and i am scratching my head wondering where all the leeches went. Anyone know what happened????

The Krup warriors are actaully in the frog town. Good luck- I have zero Krup Shields and have gone 0-5 against Ulump Pujlok, who has a bad habit of hanging around town when I least need him to be there.
In my opinion, this is the hardest part of getting the 3 legionaire recommendations- in part because it is usually empty of other players. At least on the Mith-Marr server.

Wow..thats very strange indeed. But my guess its a tp potion..but if its says FROM oasis TO kunark then maybe it has something to do with the tower in the middle of the lake while holding the stub and it might tp ya somewhere in kunark. Thats just a weird little theory i have about this. Also if you ever try it try holding it while standing in the blue flame and press the D button. Although i dont seriously see how such an item excists off such a creature, but i guess anything is possible you know...

Oh i forgot to mention. As I thought about this item more, it all came to me. Its probably used for a quest, most likely in The Out post,Fironia Vie or some really rare npc in Oasis but the only rare spawn i have seen in there was a named SG. If you still have this item and taking my suggestions seriously might wana try talking to some npc's in The outpost most likely or something:)

Actually it is a great place from 1 all the way to lvl 35, what I did (Iksar Necro) I would set up camp at the end of the path near the pillar close to the Iksar bandit camp. and kill what ever I could find. Most stuff near the pillar cons blue up to 35. Since there isn't much competition for mobs there it is a GREAT zone to play in.
RE: swamp of no hope

I totaly agree. The newbie area is awsome and there is almost no one ever there. I get huge lag in FOB but almost none in the Swamp. All beginning iksars should utilize this zone.

RE: Bounders

Follow the path to the right from the pillar area. Go to the island directly across from the path. I killed a bounder on the left side of that island. He was near the swamp edge. I am an 8th level monk, and it was a fight to the last bubble. He dropped a bounder spear. Good luck.

Spot #4 on this map is a cave with various sorts of Frogloks that are VERY easy to fight one at a time and often drop fine steel. I used root-dot-med on the warriors and snare-porcupine-nuke on the caster froggies.

Spot #5 is a camp of Iksar outcasts that are easy to pull and fight, one at a time, using harmony. They cluster up in twos, so harmony one and pull the other. I did a lot of levels in my high-teens and early 20's on these guys. The occassional Iksar Pariah will spawn, which is pretty tough until you get to your mid-twenties.

If things go wrong, you can quickly zone into Trakanon's Teeth and clear your aggro. Never had anything in the tunnel on the other side bother me in the least.

I suggest gaining levels on the Iksar first, then graduating to the froggies.
Clerical Soloing

There's a wonderful undead camp in the Swamp that my cleric solo'd at for a number of levels, up to 31 I believe. You can use a range weapon or range spell to pull mobs one at a time. They don't aggro the neighbors. There are about 6-7 spawns in this camp.

The progression of mobs is:

warbones
icebones
charbones

The charbones are quite dangerous in the mid-twenties, had them even give my group a hard time, but they become soloable in the later 20's. I recommend keep enstill or root memmed in case you need to back off and heal yourself.

stun-root-back off and heal yourself

I always worked this undead camp from the side with the trees because the other side had too many wanderers that'll pounce upon as you med. But beware, every now and then Crusader Savot, a wandering Iksar newbie guard, wanders by killing things like the deputies in Misty Thicket. And he doesn't much care for anyone except other Iksar. He killed my level 29 cleric in less than 10 seconds.

There is an excellent spot to do solo or with a group of 2. As you enter the swamp from the SouthWest zone entrance (from Firona Vie) Head East NorthEast. You'll see the head from a giant Iksar statue. Head east from that and you'll see some ruins.

Set up camp just west of those ruins. There is a nice wide open flat spot there so you can see things coming that might agro. Start pulling from the ruins. The skellies in there have a VERY low agro radius. I have pulled one from the back by mistake and it climbed over all the other skellies to get to me. None of the other skellies agro'ed. I was amazed!

If you run out of skeletons, just take your pick of the non-agro MOBs who are crawling all over the place.
Finding Ton Warriors for that Ench Quest
# Aug 23 2000 at 6:13 PM Rating: Good
Near the top center of the zone around 2500,0 is a iksar bandit camp. There is LOTS of stuff that wanders around this camp and through it. Kill anything that moves and eventually a ton will spawn. Be sure to get the totem and not the Piece of Totem. This took me about 4 hours of killing to get.

It has been my experience in the swamp that the ton warriors that drop the whole totem actually tend to travel in the far south of the zone. There is skelly house around neg2500, pos750. To the south and southwest there is a small clearing. This is the best place to set up a camp for catching ton froggies.

Hail and well met, all! There is a place in the Swamp of No Hope -- on a hilltop just behind the twin statues -- where creatures running from high green to red pass by, but never disturb you. It seemed odd to me, considering they were passing on all sides (frogloks and skellies included (which are aggro plus KOS)), that 10 hours of hunting in the region brought me tons of things to fight, but never a disturbance while resting and meditating. I don't know the loc off the top of my head, but its where you see the one tall statue, the one tall on its back, and the small shrine with a statue's head within. The location I'd med was on the very mild peak just behind the standing statue (behind when you line up all three statues.)

yeah, I hunt there a lot. If your're smart you can group with another and take these things down at a low lvl (I hunt there as a lvl 9 SK, with a lvl 12 Nec, and sometimes a lvl 10 monk) It's nice xp, especially if you pull a skellie from the house across, or a froggie that walks by) The wandering monsters DON'T KoS. Watch out for the nibblers and their ilk, if you don't have magic, or a magic weapon, don't bother, they can't be hit by norm weapons. I must admit, I don't know why no one hunts here...

Good and safe from levels 25 to 31 near Bandit camp
# Aug 23 2000 at 10:36 AM Rating: Decent
I've been using this area as a Iksar SK since level 25 when I did the SK Test of Pain Quest. I'm level 31 and I will soon have to abandon this nice spot. There is a pillar near this camp where I park my pet nearby. I roam the area looking for blues which are typically Man Eating Vines, Scourgewing Mosquitos, Venomous Lampreys which are all good XP, but terrible loot (a couple of silver). The better loot blues are Frogloks (Tons, Gaz Knights, Vis & Shin Shaman) which can have 2-3 plat and occasional nice runes, words, and gems, and more rarely a FS weapon. Icebone,Warbone and Charbone skels are nearly rare but provide nice XP and coin. Iksar Pariahs and Exiles round out the list of nice targets that frequent this area. Something I noticed about the spawn was that most MOB types spawn in pairs, i.e. if a Ton Warrior spawns another will be along shortly so keep your eyes open and your Mana maxed. Overall, this area is excellent for an Iksar since merchants are a short run as well as the bank in East Cab. Enjoy!

There are approx 14 named spawns in this zone that drop nothing. When you kill one of them another instantly spawns at a random spot in the zone. I got tired of following the chain after killing about 20 of them (which one spawns is random as well, so there could be more). Perhaps eventually there is a quest NPC who spawns if you do this long enough. They all do, however, drop a lot of money for their level, up to 10pp at times from monsters no higher than the rest of the wanderers in the zone.

Yes. I killed about a dozen myself. One thing I do have to say about some of these Named NPCs is that they are RICH! The Froglock berserker consitantly dropped 6pp and change. Another dropped 8pp and another dropped 10pp. I was blown away. Good thing they appear in random places or they would be camped 7/24.
