This massive ocean, comparative in size to the Ocean of Tears, separates Kunark from Faydwer and Antonica. It is here in Timorous Deep, where if you look hard enough, you may find paradise. Be mindful of the volatile raptor islands and the occasional appearance by the sea dragon, Faydedar.

I have a new idea that might be fun for mages that like to roleplay - the water mage. You would only use the water pet, not any of the other pets, and you would only fight in watery areas. I think that this would actually be doable, and I might try it out. Here is what it might look like for you hunting in only watery spots:

1-7 : your newbie zones, don't have to hunt in water spot yet
8-15 : wisps in erud's crossing, sirens in OOT, Jonah in Lake Rathe at level 12
16-23: gargoyles in OOT, birds in Lake Rathe, lots of things in Lake of Ill Omen, crocs on beach of Oasis
24-34: sisters/dwarves in OOT, bunch of things in Lake of Ill Omen
35-38: spectre groups in OOT and oasis, gorillas in timorous deep with a partner, a few things in lake of ill omen
39-48: soloing gorillas in timorous or high level goblins in Lake of Ill Omen, can group and do specs in Oasis and OOT, can solo Gornit on Seafury Island, can group in Kedge Keep
49-55: seafuries in OOT and raptors in Timorous Deep

You wouldn't have to hunt 100% of the time in water areas, but you COULD get from 8 to 55 in only watery areas and still be able to pick up great exp. and money (good money would be from wisps, gargoyles, and gornit). I didn't even list a lot of the other watery spots that are also good hunting. I think it would be a fun roleplaying challenge. Would anyone else try it?

BTW I would prefer to solo or hunt with a 37 monk friend OR a 36 wiz friend and it doesnt necessarally have to be in kunark

I decided to hit the Gorlas yesterday after getting sick of grouping for a bit... As a 32 Paladin I was having no problem killing this ugly beasts... However... As I was looking around for my next victim I happened upon a ground spawn called Crushed Diamonds(Magic/Lore 1wt Look a bit like Faerie Dust). Anyone have any idea what this is for? Haven't tried to sell it so I don't know what the merchants will pay and after checking a few sites I came up with nothin... Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks in advance

Please dont pick that item from the ground.
It is for the Shaman spell Canibalise and it is a 5 hour spawn.
I was there with a group of friends and one of them looted it as soon as we got there, few minutes later a shaman came looking for it...damn i feelt so bad.
So please dont ruin peoples quests.

I am a lvl 20 iksar necromancer who now hunts ogre island and the nearest palce i know of to sell is the gypsies in the oasis. The fine steal sells for good money, but can encumber you quikly. I heard of a place to sell on ogre island, but can't find any ,merchants. Whenever i go back to the oasis i must sacrifice a pet to do so. It would be much easier ifd i can sell on the isalnd. Does anyone know of a merchant????

I am pretty sure that one of the NPCs in the oasis was a merchant type. All 3 NPCs there were indifferent to me. I take the Bloated Belly to chessboard Isle where I stop to regain some stamina, then I swim the rest of the way. When you're done it's not that far the the firepots room if you've had enough with TD.

weird things near ogre raiders
# Apr 16 2001 at 1:46 AM Rating: Default
while waiting at the dock for the boat to take me to overthere I noticed if you click on the first small rowboat it tips and you can hear a door opening somewhere. I looked for this door for some time. Does anyone know what this is?

Secondly there is a Gnome on the mountain just right of the docks. He says this "The hills ears keep spinningthe wonders of wells." "Twisting twisting fly in water scar hot horses." "Teach me!" "Bring floating water islands of doom!" This has to mean something. Does anyone know what?
RE: weird things near ogre raiders
# Apr 16 2001 at 2:26 PM Rating: Default
The sound you hear is the boat moving, this is how you get onto the dock without going to the shore, I guess its for good players to use to avoid the ogre at the end of the dock. Click on the boat from the water, and put yourself into the tilted boat and click again. When it rights itself you walk onto the dock rail. The 2 dock legs at the end Twist if you click on them, but havent found a reason for them yet....
Good races to FV from Oasis
# Feb 23 2001 at 11:25 AM Rating: Excellent
Ok, no one wants to ride to BB to catch the boat when you are already in Antonica so here is what i do.

First off im a barb shaman, with Sow and Levitate, which really is key for this to work. i guess it could be done by swimming but not near a quick

1. take evil barge from oasis

2. as soon as barge zones jump off and swim to ogre island ( take a look at the map on EQatlas.com if your not familiar with Tim Deep)this is necessary cause barge is to slow.

3.run across ogre isle to the brid side.

4. cast levitate and fly out to sea, fly so you just clip the southern edge of the fallen iskar skelly island(#3 on EQatlas map) and statue island (#4 on map)

5. ok the "good" boat is HUGE and as you near statue island you will soon see it off in the distance it is waiting to pick up people from BB, head toward it.

6. i have tried many times to get "in" the boat from the water to no avial.... so head to the bow (front) of the boat, climb right up on the hull, shut off levitate, sit down and wait. While i was on the hull my LOC was (4598 neg6201)

thats it! you will ride the boat right to FV sitting on its hull. but be warned you must be quick no dilly-dallying around or you will be seeing the boat pull away. if that happens you have about a 20min real time wait for it to come back.

have fun and happy hunting
Also good for BB to South Antonica
# May 15 2002 at 10:39 AM Rating: Decent
I have also used this to get from BB to Oasis quickly.. Freeport Boat is SOO SLOW! Take shuttles to Maidens Voyage. It then loops North, West, then South. You will be able to see Ogre island off to the right as it heads South. Jump off, swim to Ogre island, avoid ogres and stupid undead sailors, and take barge to Oasis.

I actually did this with a LV 4 Dwarf Rogue..

NICE! Have to try this out...it will definitely help out a TON!

One question: Is there a reverse wayz of this that will work for a good race going FROM Kunark TO Antonica?

I'm going to experiment a bit tonight to see if I can't sneak/camo/hide/SoW/WHATEVERINEED my wayz over to The Overthere barge launch and get to Oasis from there...is this possible? I have no doubt that i'll be able to get to the barge launch in The Overthere and then to Ogre Island and on to Oasis...my worry is whether or not there are any guards at The Overthere launch of any kind there that I'm KoS to. What a long, worrysome, and tedious corpse run that would be, eh?

Wish me luck...

# May 18 2001 at 8:05 AM Rating: Default
You can also wait on the boat until after it stops for the BB shuttles. It then heads nw and then turns south back towards FV. At this point it is right next to the Ogre island and just a short swim if you jump off.

You can also ride the rudder but it's not quite as easy to climb up on as the bow is.

Yes i do it all the time, i have never seen ogre gaurds anywhere near where the barge beaches.

when i zone from FV i wait till the boat stops at the first dock, the little elf village. then from that dock i cast my sow/levitate and im off in the direction of ogre island checking my /loc along the way to keep on track.

i guess you could jump off the fv boat as soon as it zones, but whenever i cast levitate from in the water, i have a terrible time getting on top of the water, so i just wait till that first stop.

A Strange Occurence!
# Jan 21 2001 at 12:58 AM Rating: Decent
I was waiting for the Bloated Belly (boat to Kunark) on the Ogre Island. Being a bit bored I decided to looka round and directly to my right, lined up in a neat row next to the dock, were 3 boats. The kind you ride in. Now, since to boat might come at any minute, I decided against venturing out in one. BUT! I did accidentally LEFT click on the boat nearest to me. That boat suddenly rose up into the air until it was vertical, all the while making a strange chain-like grinding sound! After about 20 seconds, it fell back to it's regular position with a hollow boom! What in the world is this? Some secret lever for a door?

BTW, I play Brigg on the Seventh Hammer, and have been camping on Golra for the last couple nights. This is probably the best and steadiest xp I've gotten in many levels. Send me a tell if you're in timorous and are bored. :-)

I was hunting the Ogre raiders solo at 16, and even took out the Watchman Raider at 17. I figure the best way to get xp from these individuals is solo, I was gaining minimum of 1/8 bub of xp killing those reds solo. As to the Watchman specs, I've been told its a Monk??? quest of some sort.

Nerfed? Yes! My close friend, Kibbel, a 21 Ranger at the time, and I used to spend afternoons hunting these fat and stupid creatures. They gave a decent amount of experience, but they also dropped Fine Steel weapons of all types. Since the recent onslaught of patches, they now give less experience and drop rusty and bronze weapons. Still fun to hunt, but not unique enough an experience to go out of your way for.

I don't know how they were before, but I hunting the ogres yesterday and it was great.

I am 16, in a big group (level 16 to 19), I hunted for two hours and received more than two bubbles of XP, 3 fine steel weapon and one bronze weapon.

Indeed they also sometimes drop bronze or rusty, but are still good XP and easy to hunt, provided that a higher level takes care of the named ones.

Lets see...after fighting crocs on the beach of oasis, i decided to go to kunark, my first order of business was to take the raft through timorous, to actually hit the continent thereof. Once on ogre isle, i conned the ogres....this after being lvl 20, i started fighting them...in 3 hours of solo play i hit lvl 21...then on i took bloated belly to the overthere, jumped off, swam to the beach, and killed rhinos, sabretoothed tigers, sarnak flunkys, walking cactus', and of course, *****. I hit lvl 22 within about 4 hours of gameplay. On my way back i decided to fight some ogres (i roleplay a character who has a background to which he hates ogres for) and started killing them, STILL awesome exp, and as for them dropping rusty....no, ive gotten one. Some actually have dropped up to 4 platinum in gold, not to mention lower lvl runes that people buy, as well as words of miscellaneous crap. They do drop massive fine steel and bronze...each worth a plat or two...i highly suggest at lvl 19-20 going here solo, groups...eh fine, but...before 19 i truly suggest fighting crocs in oasis, they give so much exp its not even funny.

That's probably an iksar monk quest, though my monk hasn't done it yet. The Great Oowomp is, however, an "indirect" quest NPC for an iksar monk shackle quest (the Shackle of Rock, I believe). Essentially, he summons the actual quest NPC. I've heard, however, that Oowomp's aggro to iksar monks (which wouldn't surprise me--see my earlier post), so build up your Sneak skill first, Swifttails.

The Great Oowomp cons indifferent to Iksar Monks. He will, however, attack if provoked or if you attack or are attacked by any other Ogres near him. I was able to walk right up, give him the 5 gold pieces, and have anice little chat with the Dancing Skeleton. Be careful though! There is an Ogre spawning point in the building directly behind him! If that Ogre spawns and attacks, you will have to deal with The Grear Oowomp and his skeleton friend (Which by the way conned red to a level 39 Warrior in my group). Good luck to all you monks out there!

Wood elves, forgotten mobs on island here, not bad for evils

My dark elf cleric was just here at level 25 doing these wood elf rangers and scouts right outside their rock wall thingie on the island way south (neg 4000 neg 6000 roughly). They were green to her but most of them were xp. She only got one elf blood (shes an adamantite smith) so they don't drop those as much as crushbone slaves even, but they are kinda fun and no one does them.

They'd probably be about right for a group around level 22 or 23 or so. basically there are 2 spawns you can take at entrance of rock wall, and another one who spawns there and wanders out. Then if you go away from that fort there is a wood thingie all by itself with another 2 spawns which were green to her but xp.

It did not take her long to get there swimming from the butcher shuttle as soon as it zoned into timorous.. was more or less straight down (south) I guess. I think it would take pretty long coming from oasis though. All the elves here are basically low except the 2 vendors I guess. Not sure what level they are as they are blue to my 52 and my 25 dark elf was not going to go in the fort to con them.

Good Race Shortcut to FV
# Sep 21 2000 at 3:42 PM Rating: Decent
OK, I hate to run from Oasis to Freeport, Bind on the docks, Wait 30 minutes for a Boat, Ride that for 30 minutes, Wait up to an hour for the shuttle, Ride that for 30 minutes, and then Re-bind in FV. LOTS OF WASTED TIME.

Method 2. At the Oasis dock, get on the EVIL shuttle. Ride that into Tim Deep. Run across the island to the Spirioc Village while avoiding Ogres. There should be other players hunting Spirirocs.

A. Get yourself a SOW and a levitate. Run SouthEast to the Elven Outpost. It's a long run with both sow and levitate on. Catch the ship and take a ride to FV.

B. Avoid the Ogres ( Camo, Invis, Sneak ) and get on the Bloated belly. Ride that past the shipwreck and the island with the Iskar Master. As soon as you pass that island, you'll zone, so JUMP OFF THE BOAT. Swim Due East and you'll be at the Elf Outpost shortly.

C. From the far end of the Sprioc Village, swim East to the Fallen Iskar Island. Sit to reagain your stamina. Swim SouthEast to the Elven Outpost. This swim is HORRIBLE. This is the IRON MAN challenge of outdoors survivalists. BLUE BLUE BLUE forever. Pray you cross paths and get picked up by the Maiden Voyage.

The last method will still be shorter than the 2.5 hours of waiting for boats and running.
Possibly an even faster way
# Oct 11 2000 at 12:58 PM Rating: Good
The ogre island, fallen iksar island, and the abandoned island with the huge Iksar statue all form a line from west to east in the aforementioned order. On a clear day with clipping way out all the islands are within sight of the ones next to them.
[(west) Ogres---Fallen Iksars---Statue (east)]
(Note: this is all with clipping way out if I remember right)
The shuttles from Butcherblock stop somewhere to the southeast of the statue island to load onto the Maiden's Voyage. The Maiden's Voyage then travels north passing within sight to the east of the statue island and then turns west rounding the statue island and continues west passing within sight to the north of the fallen iksar island and zones just slightly to the northwest of the fallen iksar island before reaching the ogre island.

I have never done it myself so I don't know how exactly you get on the Maiden's Voyage (possibly get levitate and ride the little ledges formed by curves in the hull at the front or back of the boat). It would make a very short trip however to ride the shuttle from Oasis to the ogre island, travel east avoiding the ogres past the spirocs and across the water to the fallen iksar island, and then north/northeast of that island a ways (but still within sight of the fallen iksar island) and then just wait on the Maiden's Voyage.

Going the reverse direction is even easier and makes for a nice shortcut from Butcherblock to Oasis or from Butcherblock to the Overthere (if you're not kos to the dwarf at the end of the docks). Just ride the Maiden's Voyage and jump off as soon as you see the 2nd island which will be after you turn west. This island will be the fallen iksar island and you simply travel west from that island to the western end of the ogre island and catch the shuttle to Oasis or catch the boat to the Overthere.
RE: Possibly an even faster way
# Mar 02 2001 at 2:16 PM Rating: Default
This is exactly how I get to FV. When you swim out to the shuttle location, (it's a long wait for the boat if not timed properly) just swim to the bow of the ship, climb up on the prow and enjoy the ride. It's a great view and fun to feel the spray in your face)

This one is for Wizards. You put on levitate and jboots and pull 3-4 raptors from their island to the chessboard. Run around in circles until they are all bunched together, and blast them with AOE spells. You can take out 4 raptors in the time that 1 normally takes for the mana that 2 normally take.
RE: Raptors, the Quad-Kite method.
# Oct 06 2000 at 7:32 AM Rating: Default
Beware:

There is a teleport bug for this zone. If a npc gets hurt, they stop moving (if snared) if you keep running, they tp back to their spawn location. If you stop, they stay standing still. With 4 raptors, some will resist, some have more hps. So they stop at different times and you may lose 1 to 3 when they tp back to their spawn and start healing rapidly there.

Hey everyone =) ONce i hit lvl 18, i just stopped using my mage for so long..i was getting so upset that i couldn't find a good hunting ground....i tried HH, Oasis, NK, EK, and a little SK and Nothing at all was getting me Exp fast enough...so i made a warrior and started playin him. about a month later i started Lyynn up again and my friend told me about an OGre island taht would be perfect for me...i doubted it but followed him anyways. once i got there, lvl 18 mind you, EVERYTHING was either White, Yellow, and barely Red! THE perfect Hunting ground! with MANY ogres popping you should have no problem with having to Find stuff to pull..its all right in front of you! you might need a grp at first, but now i am lvl 20 and soloing these bad boys....the almost always Drop FS weapons which sell for about 4pp and even drop up to 2pp sometimes!! the exp is awsome and i recommend it to Anyone lvl 18-21 !!

hehe i was killing ogres at 18 and got to 20 doing it! i am a mage and had gate which is handy if oowomp is pulled. but the thing is dont pull the spawn near dox pull the ones at huts. also a 36 can easily solo oowomp easily but thats sort of hard to find in a mid lvl zone. i killed oowomp to 1/10 hit points when i died, one more shock of spikes would have killed him and i am only 29!

Before you go slaughtering ogres in TD (and it's a lot of fun, believe you me), you should be aware that one of these things is not like the others...

His name is The Great Oowomp. He's a massive ogre brute who sits in the middle of the circle of huts near the dock on Ogre Island. He conned dubious and a bright, shiny red to my 21st level paladin, but he'll happily jump in to any fray involving another ogre within his aggro radius, which is HUGE! Let me take a particularly nasty example. Ogre Raider on the near end of the dock, a respectable distance from the huts. Great. I go into the water, so as not to accidentally draw anyone from the village and bang, pull the Raider very quickly. Wonderful, so I'm heading back to my group until I see:

"The Great Oowomp hits YOU for 70 damage!"

about 4 times in rapid succession. Yep. The big one had come out to play, despite every precaution. Maybe if you Lull him, he won't, but he aggroed quite merrily here. Obviously, you can't pull something like that back to a group of mostly 15-18, so I stood fast and got pulverized, resigning myself to the fact that my bind point was only about 15 minutes away.

So, if you're going to be taking out ogres, you can do so with impunity, so long as (1) The Great Oowomp is *not* on the board, or (2) you only pull ogres *well* away from the huts.

For those of you that plan on fighting on the ogre isle than just watch your HP and make sure it doesn't drop to fast. I'm a 17th season rogue and i had grouped with a 18 mage and he would pull reds and yellows! We took them down easily but they hit real hard at lvl 17, like "you get hit for 57, 34, 55, 37" and so on. I'm no pansy being a barbarian and all but they took my HP down a little bit fast when they succeeded in hitting me which is quite hard to do.

Raptors wouldn't seem like a bad option for higher level characters at first glance. Low to mid-40s npcs, without exceptional stats for their level, and not far from civilization. However, their aggro and assist radiuses are huge - and the pathing of their islands takes them -directly- into the ocean when feared. In addition, they are not itemized.

Spirocs aren't a bad choice for outdoor xp between high-30s to high-40s. From the raft to Oasis, a city of spirocs lies pretty much straight from where the raft lets you out. Many of them can be pulled as singles. Due to the size of the island, those with jboots or SoW can often run far enough away to camp if they wish. A note to casters - you can't bind in this zone, so if you plan on hunting here, make sure to bind before you arrive.

Faydedar is a level 55 Sea Serpent who guards the area above and around the firepot room. Right now he suicides after an hour after each patch/respawn, but this might be fixed soon. He drops a mix of Vox/Nagafen loot and has been killed with 12 people.

Greetings,
I've only done this once and I have no intention of testing without a lot of backup, but if you kill the "Fire Gator" (note caps) that lurks near the firepot room the serpent apparently immediately spawns and shreds whoever killed the Gator.
I nailed the Gator once out of curiousity and never even saw the serpent I went down so fast. Was level 35ish at the time.

From what I've read his suicide is intentional so if you want to kill him you have to be quick.

And you would think this guy would look pretty big, but he is surprisingly small.

On my server, Oasis is very crowded while one zone away is a far far better place to hunt. Coming from Oasis you land on the Ogre/Spiroc island. Upon landing, there is an ogre village off and to the right. The ogres range from about 16-21 except for The Great Oowomp who is a much higher level. Several of these ogres are spread out from each other. Be careful about the Great Oowomp, I've heard he has a rather large aggro range. If you follow this island farther east you will pass the Spiroc village. They are dubious to me so you might want to con them first before passing by. From the Spiroc village, continue east across the water a little ways and you'll reach the Skeleton island. The skeletons are all Fallen Iksar and range from about 12-16. There are about 10-15 of them spread out over the island far enough away from each other that there is no fear of fighting more than one. Unlike crocs in Oasis, they do drop money. Also on this island is a small bandit camp of 3 bandits that range from about 15-20. Also, to get there from Butcherblock, jump off the boat as soon as you see the 2nd island which is Skeleton island. It'll be on your left and don't hesitate, the boat zones into FV shortly after coming into sight of the 2nd island.

While this is a very nice hunting ground, dying makes for a very time consuming task. Is there anyway to bind here and still make it out of the zone easily?

Greetings,
First, the skeleton isle is very nice for the level, and the bandits - which run from about 16-17 for bandits and 18-20 for bandit leaders - are rarely camped, but the spawn rate is kinda slow.
Second, there is a raft of ruined ships visible from the evil ship on the port (left :) ) side a while after it leaves the ogre isle. They are the same levels as the ones on the skeleton isle. The raft can be tricky to get onto, and the pathing means they usually will bring at least one friend until you break the spawn, but a group of high teens to low 20s can do nicely here. The raft is shaped like a star (starfish?) with a central point and spurs (I think 5) out to ruined ships, with a spawn at the end of each spur on the ships and 2 in the middle. Note that you will normally only see 1 bandit in the middle, the second spawn is underwater.
And, at least in my experience, the bandit leaders are always halflings, and all the halflings you'll see are bandit leaders. The regular bandits are usually humans, but sometimes others. The Rivervale connection?

Evil characters should probably not attack the Ogres on this island as they serve as the only link to Kunark and I believe the faction hits extend to the outpost in The Overthere also.

The Skeletons on the island are good experience up to about level 18 and they are well spaced so are easy to solo.

I'm looking for a better spot to solo than the ogre's so how do you get to the skele isle? do you just go to the side of the ogre isle where the huts are than just run along the beach tell you see skele's?

You go to the eastern most end of ogre isle, and swim directly east to the fallen iksar isle (skeletons). Use caution when first approaching the isle. If you just run up on the beach you will probably encounter iksar immediatly and they may group on you. They are a little hard to make out against the sandy color of the beach. They are good XP up to about 18 and drop money and "words".
