The Estate of Unrest: Infamous in its earlier days for its massive trains, the Unrest manor is occupied by a clan of tormented souls, rumored to be the victims of a murderous rampage by the crazed dwarf, Garanel Rucksif, whose ghost resides deep in the estate's basement.

#Anonymous, Posted: Aug 27 2000 at 11:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) At level 5 I went to the basement and soloed the tentacle terrors, werebats, festering hags, and the priest of najena. Killed undead barkeep cuz he didn't give me any alcoholic beverages. I just got twinked up and buffed with high level damage shields, got wolf form, man, it was soooooo easy I get great experience. True story. Would I lie to you? No, I think not.

Quick note on pulling bottom floor
# Aug 23 2000 at 4:26 PM Rating: Good
If you are pulling out the side porch door, don't under any conditions jump the railing, there seems to be a pathing problem that will cause you to pull the whole bottom floor of the masion if you do jump it. If when you come out the side door hang a right, just after you get down the steps let the mob(s) follow you to make sure you don't get too far ahead of them, or they may decide to take a diffrent path, thus running the risk of getting more then you wanted. After you have them off the porch you can normally pull them all the way to the wall without too much chance of anything joining in from the house.
General Tips on Pulling Unrest
# Aug 23 2000 at 12:34 PM Rating: Excellent
Most of the trains in Unrest come from one of three things: bad pulls, groups crossing pulls, or lower-level groups getting swarmed by yard trash during a fight. All three are relatively easy to avoid (or at least minimize) by following simple rules of caution.

First and most important, before you pull from deeper in, clear *everything* around your path that will aggro on the group. Up until level 22 or so, most yard trash will aggro whether it gives exp or not, so if you have group members in the teens or low 20s, kill yard trash in your area before going in. Then, once you go inside, clear from the door in. Don't sneak past ghouls with invis undead because you want to fight stronger things, because they'll just aggro and join in while you're on the way back out. It's better to have a lot of short fights than to have big brawls with uncertain outcomes.

Secondly, know your limits. Just because your group can kill a carrion ghoul does *not* mean you should be hunting carrion ghouls. Realistically speaking, if you're not confident your group can handle 3 average critters at once from a specific area, you shouldn't be pulling from that area.

Thirdly, know your surroundings. The puller needs to know (or quickly learn) where *every* spawn point is for the area being pulled. If not, you can't properly check your path and you're get extra critters joining in pulls far too often. Also, if you're not the only one pulling from *or* to an area, keep an eye out for the others, especially if the other group is pulling from further in.

Now, for some more specific suggestions.

1) If you wish to fight second floor or basement critters exclusively, move the group into the house. That way, you're not training when you get a marginal pull and the first floor critters that join in tip the balance out of your favor, and you don't cross pulls with people that want to only fight first floor stuff.

2) Unless your group is slumming and can smash groups of 6+ 24th level critters easily, do not attempt to break the tower or hand room unless your puller is using feign death or harmony. Some highly skilled pullers can do it without either case being true, but 95+% of you can't so I wouldn't suggest trying.

3) Do not, I repeat, do NOT pull festering hags. Kill hags in place. If you cross pulls with someone or have to zone you will almost certainly get others killed.

4) Be cautious feign pulling when there are several groups pulling from the house. If you get a particularly bad pull that you're trying to split, LET THE OTHER PEOPLE KNOW! Few things cheese people off quite as much as opening a door and having the 10 mobs sitting over you jump onto them.

May I also suggest creating a TRAIN hotkey, because trains will happen here constantly. There is no way to zvoid not training in a zone full of aggros so be prepared =)

i'd like to add...
when hunting in the pit, try to keep off all stairs. do NOT use any AE spells on the stairs, you will pull quite a few mobs, even if they are yard trash, it makes it harder to kill the 2 hags that just spawned =)

One more thing i think should be added is this.

When pulling from a room in unrest check the rooms adjacent to it and count on the mobs within aggroing on you while you pull. If you dont you may be overwhelmed by mobs you didnt expect to fight. On the other hand if they don't come you will be plesantly surprised

Unrest is a fantastic zone to solo in....even if you're only online for 30 minutes, you can pick up easy xp here. For the 30+ level cleric, here are 2 of my favorite things to do:

1) Go to bookcase at stairs to alter. At bottom of stairs, there are 2 spawns. If one of these is a hag....you need to make sure you can solo these uglies, or pass on this one. Here's what you do, and one of the secrets I found out....you root one of the two...the other will chase you.
Lead it out to the courtyard by the fountains. root and nuke it until well done. Now...simply sit down and med to full. When you are good and ready, simply knock on the front door of the mansion and the other spawn will be very nice and meet you there. It will NOT come out of the house until you reenter!! This gives you all the time you need to med. So draw this one to the yard, and root/nuke once again.

2) Probably for higher 30 levels (cant remember exactly)...invis and go to the blood pool...or actually right there at the corner before the blood pool. There are 6 spawns that you can draw on here. The only one aggro to you at the corner is the one AT the corner! There is another one further down the hall closer to the alter, then 2 at the blood pool itself, and 2 more....one in each pit at the blood pool. The 2 at the blood pool will both attack when you attack one. What I do is root one and let the other come at me. Root this one and blast. Then take care of the other. Once these 3 are done...the others can be done at your leisure. Ghost room will often come after your spawns....a simple reminder that you are there camping them should suffice! No one could level faster than me when I worked this corner!! And if you know the chanter in the Ghost group...hehe...even better with clarity!!
How to Level from 13-19 without Fear of Trains

The most notable thing about Unrest is the number and Size of trains that occur there.

Most people think it would be suicide to hunt the yard trash with a character in the low to mid teens. And if you don't know what your doing it is.

There is a place to hunt the yard trash that is completely safe from all trains. And that is the hedge maze. There are 4 spawn points inside the hedge which spawn general yard trash and occasionally a ghoul. Even if you are engaged in combat with these creatures, nothing that walks by on the outside of the maze will even take a second look at you. The spawn times are close enough that you can keep a continous stream of exp going, plus they are not camped that much, because nobody knows about them. And if they are camped, just pull those creatures from outside the hedge to inside. Once inside, your safe from any other wandering creatures. Especially the nasties that are returning after some high level bit off more than they could chew.

I've fought here like this before, This is a very good way to fight this zone when all the yard trash still gives you good exp.

this is the deal... you hunt bhind the mansion. all trains got to zone so no worries and as long as your back is press right against the wall nothing NOTHING aggros you. As a higher lv send a REAL buffed up tank into the mansion to pull something. You can allways get out of there if his dumb *** pulls 3barbed skellies and a monk. And with a sow... he should b able to make it to.

Hope this helps

At the level described, All yard trash will aggro on you if you are involved in a fight. I don't care how much your butt is pressed up against the wall, anything within 20 feet that walks by while you're fighting a beetle will come either straight for you, or back to visit if they're chasing someone else. From 13-19 you can solo in the hedge and never see a train.

This is a good stratagy, but. If you get in trouble its sometimes hard to escape, and what if you get lost looking for a creature and run out of the maze into something nasty? Then i guese thats your problem. Other then these problems this seems to be a good stratagy.
