Sandwiched between two fairly soft zones (the Greater Faydark and Steamfont Mountains),
the Lesser Faydark is the site of many-a-newbie deaths as this can be a rather treacherous area. The most noteable threats to travellers are the undead, shadowed men, brownie guards, and Equestrielle the Corrupted, all of which can make quick work of low level gnomes and elves who are misfortuned enough to happen upon them.

Those same dangers can make for decent experience to the more seasoned adventurers, as can the notorious dungeon, Mistmoore's Castle, which is located in the southwestern part of this zone.

A thing to watch out for

BROWNIE CAMPS. They are very very bad, atleast for someone with bad faction with them. My story:
Once upon a time, I got lost in lfay when travelling from gfay to steamfont(I didn't have a map, and no one would give me the loc). I was luckey and had my invis on, so I walked into the little brownie village, and looked around. I conned the merchant, not a good idea. Pfwish there goes my invis. The brownies all started casting at me at once, BOOM, 500 Damage before the server recognized I was dead at 100 dmg. So I went to get my corpse, and I couldn't find an invis. So I had a friend help me out, he said since he was a druid, he was not KOS to them, so he goes in there, and BOOOM he dies. He at least got my corpse out. He was l evel 40. He got a rez, after he died another time.

Bottom line: AVIOD BROWNIES, THEY ARE NOT AS FRIENDLY AS THEY LOOK.

A word of advice...don't con with a right mouse click when you want to keep invis up. Simply target the creature, PC or NPC and type "c" (or whatever key you've mapped).

If you intended to try to buy off the merchant, ignore all the above <g>

An enchanter can buy the spells from the brownies using the illusion Air Elemental.

Im sorry about your druid friend, but yes druids are KOS to the brownies, as are all race/class combinations that I know of (If I am wrong on this please post here so we can see who isnt KOS with brownies). However if the druid had only cast wolf form (Lv 24 for druids, Lv 49 for rangers) they would have /conned apprehensive or indifferent to him. I was even able to shop at the merchant in their little village when i got there. Another item of note for enchanters, this is where you get your thicken mana spell for Wu's Fighting Guantlets. Im pretty sure enchanters have an illusion that can get them in here, Im just not sure which it is as I havent played and enchanter to all that high of a level.

I have heard that since the only place to find the enchanter spell liquid mana is off of the brownie merchants, you need to get good faction with the brownie guards to buy the spell. Well to my knowlege there is no way to gain faction with the brownie guards but, there may be a few illusions that can help. First, there's the wolf form spell, apperrantly the brownies don't care if wolvies are in there town. Second, and I have not seen this done but it might work, the illusion dwarf or illusion gnome (can't remember which) one of these naturally has good faction with brownies, so I have heard. You can also use the alliance/minor illusion trick, where you cast alliance, and/or the better version of any faction adjusting enchantment, on the two guards, since they are the only ones agro to you, then use minor illusion next to one of the merchants to get your faction with them back down to indifferant and keep you from getting whacked when the faction spells wear off. This should allow you to buy the spells you need, then use the gate spell, just to be safe, to leave the camp without incident.

A friend did the alliance and then after he was close to the brownie did tree form. This did the trick for him. And both Dwarves and brownies are KOS to them.

Does the Rogue sneak-hide work on these guys? And also, they seem to have pretty random spawns, is there any location that is more likely to be safe/dangerous?

Another note, Gnomes, Dwarves, and any other races are all KoS to the Brownie Guards. The merchants might not sell to you, but they don't start out KoS to everyone. The reason druids need wolf form, and enchanters need alliance is to get past the Brownie Guards. And yes, the village does hold a number of high lvl spells for Enchanters and I think Druids.
Also, if you do happen to be killed inside the village, any level invisibility will work to get your corpse out, although there is the risk of it going away right when you need it.
