The Butcherblock Mountains are the land of the dwarves. This rugged mountain range serves as the gateway into Norrath for the dwarves of Kaladim with its citizens, guards, and vendors well-represented throughout the area.

The Greater Faydark can be found to the East while Dagnor's Cauldron lies to the South. These mountains also connect to both the Ocean of Tears and Timorous Deep as the docks in Port Faydwer service both oceans.

level 1-15 is not truly correct.

Although this is an old zone and most folks
don't want to bother with it, there a few
spawns for those in the 35 to 40ish level range.

Named Dwarf NPCs at the huts.
-one near chessboard, several near druid ring along the shore,
one at a guard shack near the gob. warrior camp,
and a couple more scattered around.
Loot sucks for their level (around 35) but there's
several of them and this day and age
I am sure they are not camped, so great if one wants to
quietly solo for awhile.

It was a great place to solo as a druid when I was
in that level range.

There is one draw back. The faction hit.
Its something to do with Dwarf town, but if you don't plan on going
into Kaladim it doesnt matter I guess.
It is NOT the same faction as the guards, so they will still
love you.

The zone was meant for 1 to 15.
The guards and npc's aren't considered as leveling mobs. They are supposed to actually be guards and npc's.

Does that mean the NPCs should not be hunted?

I don't mean the guards, just the dwarf NPCs.
They seem to be there with no purpose except being there.

I know this is pretty much a "dead zone" and not a really
important topic and for all regards the zone is for the level range posted.

I am curious if that is against protocol to kill these
NPCs.

Personally, I find no fault in it.

You guys are both right. The zone listing should say 1-15, because Allakhazam's listings are pretty generic anyways. There are level 55 mobs in Paludal.

And yet, there is a camp of goblins in this zone, enraged and crazed goblins, that contains lvl 23-26 goblins, iirc. And yes, the dwarves were a must-quad spot for druids in their 30s.

The point is, replying to 2 year old posts is cool.

I was at the Butcherblock LDON camp today to do an adventure (yes, some folks still do LDONs!), and clicked on the NPC labelled "Adventure Recruiter". She offered me a mission involving rescuing SIX NPCs. I thought that was odd, but asked for a Collection instead, and was told she didn't have anything suitable for my group (three level 54s). Then I noticed there are TWO "Adventure Recruiters" in this camp. Xyzelauna Tu`Valzir gave my group an assignment, no problem. But I had been talking to Alinai Kaneriti (Adventure Recruiter), and upon hailing her I found she seems to be looking for a mini-raid of up to 12 characters. Has anyone done this mission? I couldn't find Alinai mentioned anywhere in a quick net search.

the poisoned flunder ---> raiding freeport

The poisoned flunder is a instance zone task starting in butcherblock. you will need to be 3 people in group to get the task. you will get it by hailing mister squishy (or somthing like that) you will find him on the shore next to the big ship just north of the docks. i cant remember the dialog he says but to get mission you just say "interested" and a monster select window will show. you can choose between dark elf rogue, gnome cleric, troll warior and an erudit enchanter. after class select you all need to stand near the gnome and say "board". that will transport you to an instance zone of East freeport. After you enter you will need to choose your skills and use your monster aa'a. get vindow up by pressing "V". After this you need to check if your task is updated before you continue. if you do not see the 45min timer or the loot counter up, the mission leader will need to zone out to fix the bug. do this by hailing the gnome on the dock and say "cast off" once the mission leader has zoned out and back in the bug should be fixed (but always check). if the bug isnt fixed your loots wont count and you wont be able to finish task and get xp. The 45min timer will first start with first kill or first chest looted. You will need 30 plundered treasure to get the chest to spawn and to finish task. the chest will first spawn after 45 min though. I belive that the item given was supose to get better as you get more plundered treasure, but it seems that it dosnt. so far i have only seen to different items in the chest, and it seem to be random what item it is. one item is a pair of boots for rangers, shamans, rogues and berserkers. Stats will be added. the other item is an aug with saves on useable by all. stats will be added here aswell. So unless they change it there is no difference in loot between getting 30 and 100.(and yes i have tryed to get more than 100.)
I have found 44 chests in the zone, and they all have a plundered treasure in them. ALL chests can be taken without agro if you are real good as a rogue and use your hide and sneak buttons well. Its all about where to stand and how quick you are to hide again after opening chests and after looting. The optimal way to do this (if you are a full grp) is to have 1 cleric, 1 enchanter, 1 warior and 3 rogues. 1 rogue goes solo and get all 44 chests, while the others kill and loot.i will start by telling about the kill team: The warior should pull. the cleic can use grp temp as a group heal. chanter remember to haste melee's and be fast to mezz. rogues use backstab .ignore the tavern to the left of docks and the secret passage. start with the guards and fishermen on the dock. Then move to the building to the right. kill building and move towards the intersection. there you move towards the gate..dont take the first house on way to gate there will be 7 mobs in there its a waiste of time... you will all die if you take it. take the next house instead and gate after that. move back to intersection and continue deeper into town. The rogue should start with the chest by the fisherman visible from the dock where you enter, then go and take the chests in the secret area. and then the ones on the dock (under the bridge, behind the tavern) then move in the tavern and loot those in there. then you just follow th kill team (with a few detours) they should have cleared out some houses by the time you are done with the secret passage and the tavern. so should be no big problem to get most of them.Ones you have opened a chest it will rot after about 7 min so dont let an opened chest be for to long. You can open chests while you have agro but you wont be able to loot. die and come back and loot it later. Remember that if you die you will simply apear right back on the dock where you started, and you wont loose any xp by dying. it is duable. with a full group we got 106 in the 45 min, not that it changed the loot we got.
Have fun

anyone know anything about the new instanced task missions to unrest? i didnt like 4 of these tasks. and it seems to be decent xp for 60+ groups and at the end of task you can random an item from an ancient chest that pops when you complete the mission. had a prim/secon orb that had mana regen+1 and some stats 3 times but the first time i got from chest a Blasphemers eye , regen+3 damage shield +3 and some good stats for range. so my question is if anyone knows about these tasks , is it the same item everytime and then the eye is the rare drop? also i heard there was an instanced mission to Mistmoore as well but i cant find the npc any ideas? plz post

Today, while I was hunting some dwarfs at the dock with my dru, I found some strange corpses.

Those were some kind of mobs' named Captain Wiggins, Mad Jack and Lilia the Vain.
The most strange thing about them was, when you consider the corpses, you can see the msg telling you the resurrection time! Burning with curiosity, I tried to rez them with my cleric but nothing happened.
Those corpses contain Nodrop bandit sashes, but you can never loot them.

I'm dying with curiosity, someone plz tell me, what are they for???

Today, whiel in BB, I noticed a boat I had never seen before. It was docked out side of the docks a little way... it was near that Ogerbane guy. I tried to enter the boat, but to of no avail, looks like it would be easy to accsess with levitation.

I got on with levitate, nothing there. The boat does nothing and is very ornate, kind of like the shuttle textures though it is a large boat with a sail.

I thought maybe it came with gates of discord, for some reason?

(I'll catch **** for this.)

Since LDoN, people have been taking to congregating right near the BB/GFAY zone entrance (due to the placement of the adventurer mobs). I mean a ton of people.

Those of us without the latest video cards are advised to turn left and skirt around them, else you'll find a good deal of lag (anywhere from an annoyance to a show-stopper on the very minimum-req's).

This is just like in the earlier days when the little tunnel between the Commonlands and the Desert in Antonica would always be packed.

There will also be constant trumpetting of "65 beast LFA", "40-47 group looking for pullers, buffers", or the like. That's simply an annoyance, however, not something that can burn up as much as a half an hour for the most unlucky souls.

It'd be nice if people could at least move to the other side of that copse of trees. Out of sight is out of mind in the realm of video-card performance in this case.

I have a question about the shuttles to FV. They get half way through the route to TD and then they zone back to BB. Are all boats doing this on all servers? I wouldn't care if it weren't for the drachnids (I prefer driders) that are by the tunnels that lead to DL. Anyway, when, if ever, will the boats and shuttles be fixed to work properly again?

They recently removed the translocator in Butcher Block, but did not fix the boats to Timorous Deep. Only 2 or the 4 boats will take you there. The other 2 will get stuck just before zoning into TD.

Why can't our chars see to the side or in back, they could easily set up keys for this if they wanted to, it would be a great help when sitting. Why do they say stats go up from exp?, when it's your level that determines how high stats can go. As soon as you lvl and med your meditate goes up five more points, then stays there until you go to next level. I think there a lot of changes they could make that would make play a lot more enjoyable. If exp is so important why don't you get exp by dying, if you do it enough you can get better at it. Why all the old fashioned "Gotchas", hitting a creature only to have another on the other side of the hill come and attack you also? This is what you might call the "Irritation Factor". This is something companies put in games, because they think irritation is fun. Let's face it, they came up with a good idea, a world with continents, cities, etc. It's a game for enjoyment, why all the frustation, they don't have to make it easy, but they could make it better, I don't think they have a lot of imagination, or smarts or something. Either make it more realistic or don't make it realistic at all. Why have things half way? Why make a game that forces you endure bullcrap and make you pay to buy it, then pay to endure it? Come on guys, get on the ball, we're paying you're salaries, make things better and more enjoyable.

Well, what to say to this rant. First of all, you are entitled to your opinion. Second, you are not alone in your opinion that the game could be made better. As a matter of fact, the developers are constantly trying to make the game better. Thats what those patches are for. Thats why you have to pay monthly to play. Its to pay for improvements. Third, I agree that they dont have to make it easy. If it was then I wouldnt play. I would just load something like Starcraft or somesuch and play that. This game is hard, it is supposed to be, unless you take the shortcut and do things like twink or powerlevel, then hey thats your choice. No one is "forced" to play this game. You go to a store, make a decision to buy the game, then make another decision to load it on your computer, then make another series of decisions loggin on and such, just to play. Sooo, no one is force to play. If someone doesnt like the game the way it is, THEN QUIT, UNINSTALL THE GAME, SELL IT, and move on. Go buy something more your speed like a board game. It is easy to criticize, but its useless to do so, unless you have a solution to the problem. Remember though, you do have a right to your opinion, just as others have the same right to say your opinion is "Irritating".

#Nexuskiller, Posted: Feb 25 2003 at 1:39 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Let me tell you about an idea i had one day. I was running through Grater faydark and i had accedently attacked a nexus at the wizzy spires. Needless to say that i was killed Instantly. I was extreamly mad because i lost my exp. Through my hatered i studied the creature and i devised the most extravagant scheme ever. I was wondering if my fellow Citizens of norrath would aid me. Darkies and Lighties come together in a mass horde to take one down. "What's in it for me" a person might ask. Well i think that not only the feeling you get from uniting with all of the inhabitants of norrath to squash a common evil but a great possibilty of an uber pay off and Extream exp or maybe nothing just a cold hard defeat.I am not really sure if they drop anything or if they even give exp. They are most likely the least killed Npc in the game. I have heard of one or two being killed but to my knowlage no loot has ever been identified. There are only a couple of reasons why i have not been able to find the loot items either 1. The uber guild who took one down came up with an awsome item that they dont want to get nerfed because of 1000000 crying lowbies saying its too powerfull so they did not add it to new item lists 2. None of them have ever been killed 3. Normal Loot for lvl of mob 4. No loot :( Now i am not really sure yet of the master plan but i am thinking along the lines of a massive head on attack group attack at random with no aperant stratagey.A person could even make a mule char and lvl to 5 or 6 toe just for this battle.Toe to Toe with the Unchecked Evil of the world. Or i have got a more methodical aproach. Either way i could be just stupid or really tired but that is my idea and i am willing to set up shop on any server. e-mail me at massive_nexus_strike@YHAOO.COM if you have any ideas, you want to join (( lvl is of no importance 1-65 doesnt matter Class either warriors clerics shaman monks i am in need of warm bodies :) )) or you just want to flame about how stupid i am either way i will welcome your emails and i will try my very best to email you back .No matter what it says. There are two aqua goblin camps just south of dock area -- camp 1 is closest to docks, camp 2 is a little further down. Camp 1 has 5 goblin spawns, while camp 2 has 6... spawn time is about 4-5 minutes, so that gives time to med, heal, practice sense heading while waiting between spawns -- perfect timing though if you are lucky enough to have both camps to yourself.

Could probably solo these camps at level 10 if you are twinked and can heal yourself -- level 11 is no problem because all should be light blue by then and will not gang up on you (greens will attack anyone who gets too close). Will still get experience, but only minor amount, until level 12 or 13.

Faction increases are for Storm Guard (Dwarf Warriors), Emerald Warriors (Wood Elves), and Gemchoppers (Gnome Warriors) -- good if you need to get by guards in any of these zones.

As far as loot, you want to save the goblin heads, steins, backbones, and blood if you are farming for cash. Even if the goblins are camped, you may want to come down and check bodies because not everyone knows what to save. Each goblin drops 4 arrows all the time, so this is a good place for archers to stock up. They are also a good source for crude bronze needed in dwarf, gnome, and elf newbie armor quests -- just ask if you can loot, because most people camping here leave these items to rot. With one camp, you should be able to loot about 100-150pp worth of items per hour.

To get the most out of your hunting experience -- if you are farming for plat -- you should come with as many open inventory spots as possible because once you get a camp, you won't want to leave. Backbones and blood stack, but steins and heads do not. Should also have some space in the bank, as you do not necessarily want to sell the loot in Kaladim (unless you are a dwarf).

Once you can handle no more, either you can go back home if you live close (your race/guild will almost always give you the best prices), or head to the Bazaar -- you will probably want to go shopping anyway. Too many people run to the docks to sell what they have, but that guy probably offers relatively little in return. In addition to faction and charisma, price will depend on what the merchant has in stock, and if he already has alot of goblin loot he won't be offering as much (once I was selling to a vendor in Felwithe, ran to the bank to get more, and when I returned he was giving me less than before -- if you can, sell as much as possible before clicking the 'done' button).

Anyway, at the bazaar you should see if anyone is selling a stein cheap -- crude stein (CHA+15) runs about 10-15pp, while an opal encrusted stein (CHA+25) usually costs 20-25pp (prices may vary according to server, time of day, etc.). Sell just enough loot to buy one of these, and then unload your bags. There is a noticeable difference in pricing; for example, my Barbarian (with bad CHA) was only offered 3.5 pp per item from the 'amiable' dwarves at the warrior guild, while she eventually got 4.6 pp in the bazaar after buying a couple of steins -- that extra plat adds up if your bags are full (a difference of 150pp for me at the time).

Happy hunting.
Camp the Aquas
# Sep 13 2002 at 2:02 PM Rating: Decent
The best strategy here is to camp the aqua goblins. You should be able to kill them at level 13 or so. They drop 4 things that are very valuable, the blood and backbone (both stackable) the heads and the stein. If you have good faction/CHA, you can sell them each for about 4.5 PP. I've spent many an hour camping there. You could easily pick up about 250 PP in a couple hours. After spending time here, perhaps you should head to the bazaar. . .

The location of these two camps are between the docks and the dwarf houses (#1 and #16 on the EQ Atlas map).

Good Luck getting a camp. But, if you can its a great way to get some pp AND faction. Most things conned light blue to my Necro at lvl 13 (the only time I got the camp).

Level range is about 12-15 on the Chessboard. Undead Pawns are around level 10. Rarely do you see anything else than them, if you do ask for assistance.

I finally ventured out of Unrest today loaded with stuff to sell. Decided to run up to the docks, sell, and see if the boats were running again. While running I noticed a shout "Beach camps camped". I am still pretty new to the game, but, I have spent some time building up my swimming along that beach, and could not recall any "camps" outside the dwarf huts. So, I headed over and noticed 2 new camps full of "aqua goblin mauraders" between the dwarf houses and the docks along the beach. There is also a small camp (only saw one mob) located west of the Dwarf Building along the narrow strip of land that heads out into the ocean (very south edge of zone).

Not only that but....

* The boats are broken, so at least one "traslocator" had been placed to TL you to Timorous Deep. You are TL'ed to a dock with another translocator who will either TL you to the Oasis or FV. NIce, very nice. You just need to say "I want to travel to ..." and off you go.

* Some else in the zone reported trolls. I have no further info on it, but will check it out when I go online tonight.

Fun stuff, anyone else find anything else new?

No trolls, ogres. There are ogres called wandering greenbloods which wander about down in the southern part of the area. These are either dark or light blue to my level 11 and regularly drop an insignia which sells to vendors for around 4.5 pp. They also always drop a rusty two-handed sword and often drop a severed finger. Also the tower at the south zone wall has been taken over by ogres called towering brutes that appear to range from 10 - 12 or so. Three spawn around the tower.

I do not have any info on any of the newbie armor quests, so I will say look elsewhere for that. :) But here is some basic info on how to go to at least level 10, hunting solo in Butcherblock. This is aimed at chanters, but will work for any class.

As a chanter, I wanted to preserve my Indigo Brotherhood faction so I did not kill in Crushbone except maybe once or twice. (Not sure why I tried so hard to preserve this as my chanter has gotten killed at least once in Neriak by a guard who could see I followed Mithaniel Marr, even though I was in DE illusion).

So I started out in the GFay newbie area (NE of newbie lift of Kelethin at approx 300, -300) until I was 2 or 3. Then I got a sow, ran to Kaladim, got re-bound there, and began.

When you are facing out from Kaladim, you can see a hill. Go over this and you'll be in a nice open area at approximately 2500, -200. There is lots of open room here, you're close to the guards if you have problems, and a steady stream of mobs.

When I started my chanter, she was not a twink. She wore the cloth armor I could get off mobs, and I had two silver star rose quartz rings (INT+2) that I was able to make once I could enchant silver. So any nekkid newbie can do this stuff. :)

Kill anything any everything that wanders in this area, starting with snakes, bats, skellies, and goblin whelps. The goblins are good because they give you faction, cash, and sometimes armor. Snakes can drop eggs (food), and bats and skellies drop wings and bones, which can be used for faction in Felwithe and Kaladim, respectively. As a chanter I kept my pet up at ALL times - I would pull a mob using one of my spells (DD, DOT, anything), and my pet would leap on it soon as it hit me.

Once you are 4-5, you can begin hunting the large bugs (spiders/beetles), Krag chicks (they hit hard at that level), slightly higher goblins. Some rarely wander in this area - mostly you should head further south in the zone, to the area between the guards at the crossroads and the merchant near GFay (approx -1200, -1200) to begin camping the bigger bugs/snakes. Stay away from the basilisks as they are quite nasty for their level. The beetles sometimes drop carapices, which can be used in the dwarf quest armor (boots, helm, legs), and are worth it to get the faction hits even if you cannot wear the armor - the armor is tradeable so you can sell it to a merchant if you like or give to a newbie dwarf.

These mobs will easily take you to at least 8 or higher. At that level you can begin grouping at the chessboard or the slightly higher goblin camp (9-14).

As a Dark Elf Enchanter myself, I think that you may be able to work on faction a little by killing Orcs inside Nektulos Forest. If you go invis from the zone line (EC) to the left as soon as you come out of the pass/tunnel from zone, you will find an Orc camp (need a group probably at your level) near the corner of the zone. From what I remember, killing these orcs gives Indigo Brotherhood faction. I need to get back there myself and kill the Chief at that camp and the Chief at another camp in order to get my weapon (need their prayer beads)--newbie quest for DE--but I am almost 100% positive that I got a "better" I.B. faction for killing the ones I have killed so far.

Good hunting. Even though you aren't a Dark Elf (the Shame!), you are a fellow Enchanter, so I hope this helps :)

Qued's Tongue

Okay. I was making the fifth run to Gfay from FP in five days, and I see a dwarf go by me as I run. 'Hm,' I figure, 'some newbie headed back to Kaladim.' Then I hear, "Prepare to die!!" I think, 'Aw, cute, he has a thing he says when he goes to kill something,' and I started thinking if I want one of those. But I keep running. THEN I see, 'Qued tries to punch YOU, but misses!' and 'Qued tries to backstab YOU, but misses!' I got freaked out, turned around, and saw the dwarf trying to kill me! I knew I'd have to kill him, but I was panicking (at the time I was still bound in FP) and thinking it would royally suck to have to ride OOT again.
So what did I do but Root him, step back, and then Shock of Lightning'ed his ****. For a dark blue con, he was surprising easy. It took me two or three blasts simple, and then he was dead. There weren't any bad faction hits (thank Solusek) and I checked out his corpse. 'For making me worry like that, he better have some **** good stuff,' I thought.
I looted his corpse, finding a Small Cloth Shawl and a tongue.
Later, when I entered Gfay, I asked what the tongue was for (since it is a LORE and NO DROP) and someone said a Rogue quest. I figure I can just keep it, as a souvineer you know, and go back and royally nuke him someday. But, he was a dark blue so I figure the quest might give some good EXP. What quest is his tongue for?

I'm soloing the 3 goblins (2 normal, 1 crazed) and burn them down pretty quick. I was told from EQ Atlas map that the Crazed Goblin drops a rare Blade of Nobility. Got it the first time I logged on this morning. It didn't come from the crazed goblin however, but from one of his side-kicks. Does anyone know what quest this is for? It doesn't do anything and it's LORE, NO DROP so I can only assume it's for a quest. I couldn't find any reference to it other than EQ Atlas.

Question from Khanak
# Oct 12 2001 at 1:35 PM Rating: Default
Newbie question here. I am a 4th level dwarven warrior that is doing pretty well in balencing the level increase with the skill increase.
First I want to say THANKS for all the help I have recieved so far. When you are a newbie and lost and going in the wrong direction it is nice to hear somebody strongly recomend not to go that way. Also thanks for the better weapons then just my beggining short sword.
My question is
What level should I be before I try to take on any of the goblin camps? I am not a part of a group yet and probably wont even try to join one until I reach 7th level. (I want to be usefull to whatever group I do join.
My next area will probably be the crossroads following the path to the right of Kaladium, past the docks. Just wondering about the Goblin camps since there is one to the left of Kaladium with no gaurd post between it and the city.

The dwarf citizens in bb are awesome exp but do hit very hard -- best if root/snared and nuke/dot's down -- you lose faction with dwarf citizens only. These kills do not affect faction with guards or merchants in kaladim. I am a level 45 druid and have gained many levels here -- still getting my best exp with the least amount of mana lost. I can solo a dwarf with about a bub of mana using root, snare, dot, heal repeat.
good luck to all and happy hunting. Also be aware that the dwarves do have a fair resist rate.

The ogres are runners and run up and down the path between the Crossroads and just East of Kaladim (maybe elsewhere, too). At 14 you should have no problem soloing Corflunk but the other might give you some difficulties.

The rogues you're referring to are bandits, and the Parrying Pick quest for Dwarf Rogues involves killing some of them and getting their tongues (yuck!) as well as another tongue from Crushbone. Also, one of several ways to start the Shaman epic quest is to kill Peg Leg, another one of the rogue bandits. He also drops his wooden leg, but nobody seems to know what it's for.

I had the same problem with the dwarves when I started my human warrior, but he can now travel through the BB with no Trouble at all.

I think you just start out with bad faction with them. so you just need to kill goblins to better your faction and they will accept you.

Same with the forest next to WC(the Dark elf Place) you just need to kill the Gnomes (but that takes your faction down with the gnomes.

A level 6 who had just completed the first part of the Warrior quest and the Cantrip quest obviously was not in good standings with the guards. If you happen to see the corpse (running out of time very soon)it should be inside the gate on the road to the right by a guard house. It was probably your Religion. You probably chose to worship Innoruuk. I know my eternally lvl 5 Human warrior did. He got killed in Freeport at the Paladin's Guild... twice. I had to let my corpse rot, because I didn't know anyone at the time. But, on the bright side (I guess), this Human can go into Neriak Foreign Quarters and still only be Dubious. D'Vinn is indifferent to him (had a fun time getting a lvl 5 warrior infront of him too). Religions are bad for Warriors, at least Human warriors.

If you have a warrior, make him Agnostic! My level 31 warrior is, and he's never had any problems at all.

What I did at level 4 with my Dwarven Warrior was head to Orc Hill in Greater Faydark. It is only a 10 minute run with a Spirit of Wolf to Kelethin. You can also run around the newbie areas and kill things in one hit. With patience, you will probably make more money, max out more skills (I advise maxing out all of your weapons skills every level if possible, but keep your main skill either one or two hand slashing. I wish I had done this then rather than starting to do it now. This way when you see a good weapon a warrior may use, you know that it is a weapon that you will be effective with.), and possibly earn better faction through the bone chips quest and other newbie quests. You could also head to Crushbone zone which is pretty much a higher level, larger Orc Hill that you can access from near orc hill easily. There are plenty of pawns and lower level centurions near the entrance that a full group could get steady and great experience. However, I did not take any of my characters into Crushbone until at least level nine. However, with good groups, Crushbone can easily take you from level 5 to close to twenty, but I would advise heading to Oasis or Lake of the Ill Omen around level 15 or higher. I hope my thoughts help.

Hey all. My main is an ogre warrior and i was wondering if there was a secret way to get through Greater Faydark and Butcher Block to get to Dagners Caulderon, without running the risk of a guard spotting me? Anyone got any ideas?

Resists on guards are ridiculous now, I don't advise taking the hack and slash approach.

Get a port into BB thru the Druid rings. The lone Druid there is facing away and on the other side of the rings, so she wouldn't see you (actually never seen her attack anyone). It's easy to travel to Dagnor's Cauldron or GFay from there, with no guards in your path.

She is a merchant, by default merchants will not attack you unless you attack them.

I liked doing the bone chips quest to death, and then using the rusty blades acquired to complete the Rusty Blades quest in Kelethin. Since Felwithe is on the way between Kaladim and Kelethin, I would save up any spare black wolf pelts and bat wings, and complete those two there, practicing my swimming in the bargain. By concientiously hitting the sense direction and tracking button (as a ranger) even when I didnt care, I have slowly worked those two up as well. Very efficient way to work up faction with very little genuine risk.

That Greedy Begger is a bum! I don't know about this guy. I find him sleeping at the docks. Well, I poke him a bit and he awakens asking me for some coin. Being the generous cleric that I am, I give him a couple of sp. He gives me thanks and asks if I might spare some more!

I just take off at this point, but he follows me out of the docks. I was about a level 5, at the time.

I go about my business killing some newbie critters; gobbies, bat's etc. After I initiate combat, he butts in. No, he doesn't offer any help with the tougher blue or black cons, he only gets involved with the easy kills, so who needs him! If I get in a tussle with a tougher opponent he backs off and calls for the guards, who never come anyway. I get nada for Exp and guess what? He beats me to the corpses and scarffs up the loot!

I can't get rid of this guy. I can't even attack him! So, finally I just gate back to Kaladin and he is blissfully gone. It may not be PC, but this guy is a BUM.

The Greedy Begger helped me with Yellow Cons. I have given him weapons and he uses them. He is very helpful and helped me out many times. I did, however, give him additional coins (coppers) and things like legs and other bits off kills (never a lot). Maybe he is more helpful if you are more generous. He may be shouting Guards! Guards! (but he is fighting the whole time.) extra attacks are always good

just wanted to tell you my encounter with this guy. I was playing a 4th lvl wizard when i found him wondering the newbie zone. I hailed him and he begged for money, so i gave him all my copper pieces (129 cp). After that he followed me around like an enchanter's pet... only attacking the monsters once they attacked me. Not a bad deal if you want to solo the goblin camps.
