The god of fear himself, Cazic Thule, resides here in the Plane of Fear. Its rough terrain and bloodred sky are indicative of the horrors that await those who dare venture here.

Deathtouching golems, shadowstepping scarelings, mass-dispelling tentacles terrors and evil eyes, blinding nightmares, and other vicious creatures are just a few of the denizens which serve Cazic Thule, and which look to destroy any mortals foolish enough trespass into their realm.

Level 46 is required to enter the zone.

Portal break
# Jul 06 2002 at 10:07 PM Rating: Decent
I've done Fear plane 2 different ways. the first was to run to the west wall and camp, if you get argo'd then stand and die. I didn't like that way, the CR was terribly long and being that I was able to camp I had no idea what was going on.

The second way was to break the portal and kill the mobs. This I liked, it was exciting...challenging...and much more successfull. Though breaking the portal we still had a CR, but it was only about 30mins, no big deal.

Keep in mind my guild was bringing 5 groups into the plane of fear at once. Most everyone was 55plus.

After the successfull portal break and short CR we cleared the rest of the zone without any difficulties and waited 1 and half hours for it to respawn and were going to do it again.

All in all, I like fear...the challenge makes it exciting, the look is average, the teamwork is INCREDIBLE for it to be successfull

What does you mean by "Break the Portal"? ALso, if both strategies mean a CR, do you mean you die either way?
RE: Portal break??
# Dec 28 2002 at 8:05 AM Rating: Default
breaking the portal means killing all mobs around the portal to make it safe to zone in for the rest of your raid force.

And yes you will most likely have a death or 2 on zone in. Most likely more if u zone in, run to safe spot (ss), and /q or camp.

I do think that those that say they solo there are full of crap. UNLESS, the zone was cleared by a raid before they came in and everything hasnt repopped.

All in all, is STILL one of the toughest zones to break into, the PoG mobs are tough yes, but they can easily be single pulled, and see invis mobs are not waiting for u at the zone in like they are at fear.

I was called on by a fellow guild to assist with CR's in PoF--they had been completely wiped out on breakin. I got to the portal and noticed that there were way too few people here, and almost no 57+. We waited at the gate for an hour while unknown things were happening behind the scenes. I dont know what the hell prompted me to do this, but a few people started running into the portal so I followed figuring I was going to help save the day. This is where things got interesting...

Loading Please Wait...You have entered the Plane of Fear ( or something like that ). Immediately on group chat I see this come across the screen: GET OUT GET OUT!!! GATE! CAMP!! GET THE F**K OUT OF THERE!! etc etc. I hadnt even moved from the portal when i get whacked for like double 140. Then I made the bad mistake of trying to run. I aggroed atleast 6 mobs and amazingly enuff didnt get rooted, feared or have SoW dispelled. I cast Gate once to have it interupted. I ran some more and had a few more mobs join in. I got what I thought was far enuff away and stopped to Gate again. I gor hit 4 times and as the last bit of red drained from my HP bar I saw... LOADING PLEASE WAIT...then I saw You have entered Skyfire!!! Managed to cast thru 4 100+ hits and gated with 61 HP left. So while this was my first time here I have important advise.
1. DO NOT ENTER here until specifically told to.
2. If you get aggroed might as well try to cast Gate until you die or make it rather than run and aggro several more mobs. You WILL NOT live by running ( I would bet 100-1 against me pulling off the feat I described above again).
3. I was only self buffed and at about 2000hp in the start. Hp drop very fast here and from what Ive heard the break in is the toughest part. This isnt like a normal dungeon where there are wimpy mobs at the front and get harder as you go. Maybe the mobs in the "garden" or "forrest" area after zone in are weak compared to whats inside deep, but so they are maybe 48 and deeper in are 55. If you want to know what its like to go in here, run thru Skyfire and agro as many mobs as possible and then try to get out alive ( oh BTW dont use the zone exits either--try to get far enuff away to get off a clean gate ).
4. If you are wondering whether or not your guild is ready for this place, take them to Skyfire and have them CLEAR THE ZONE. IF you cant do this you are not ready for PoF.

I may be a bit off from my 45 second observation of PoF, but I doubt by much. This place is no joke, and it would be embarrasing ( and probably pretty common ) to have to wait for the next guild to come here and clear the zone to get your corpses.

Down time? It depends on who you're with, whether you have the firepower to kill the mobs quick and keep going. As a general rule the answer is no, at least with a good puller, and the raid being composed of mostly 55+ people.

The Gods? Oh yes, they've been killed many many times. Remember, this plane was designed years ago, when the highest level was 50 and gear was much inferior to what people have now, and the gods were killed even back then. Nowadays, the "old world" gods, Innoruuk and Cazic-Thule are basically wusses, and can be taken down with 4-5 balanced groups, sometimes less depending on your levels and equipment. The "newer" gods, such as Tunare and the Avatar of War are much harder, requiring at least 50 well disciplined level 60 characters to kill, and even then victory isn't guaranteed. However, their loot is far, far better.

As far as gear they drop, the stuff on innoruuk is absolute crap really, it's not particularly worth the minimal effort it takes to kill him. Cazic is a little better, with some nice caster and melee items. Nothing particularly incredible on either, though, not "legendary", or "ultra equipment", and far inferior to the loot from, say, Temple of Veeshan.

You can see Innoruuks loot here (eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=1597) and Cazic-Thule's loot here (http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=736)
Hope that helps you out.

OK, the drops from here are not really that great. Not bad armor, but lets face it, it ain't anywhere near the best that there is.

So WTF is with making the zone so damn difficult. There are now no safe camps anywhere (until you clear an area), there are MoBs that see invis (OK, fine) AND see through FD (WTF is with that). You would think that Hate would be tough, considering you have to port up one group at a time, but Fear is horrible compared to that. I only went to help out those who wanted armor from there, but I'll tell you right now I'm not setting foot back there again.

What is Verant thinking here? If they are gonna make a zone this much harder, they should at least put some really good loot in it. I've been to Kael Arena with smaller groups and not had as many problems. Hell, we took out 60+ Dragons with less problems.

I don't buy the Druid soloing thing, either. I don't care what level he was, I don't buy it. I don't think anyone can solo here unless most of the zone is already cleared.

Oh come on. The mobs hit for around the amount of damage as run of the mill sebilis trash, and most don't summon... nearly any class can solo here. Don't be ignorant.

Oh, and the plane has been cleared (not broken, cleared, from full pop minus cazic, draco and minibosses) by a solo 60 wizard. It's not that tough, geez.

Soloing in Fear

I know personally at least 2 people on the Bristlebane server who solo here with great frequency. One is a level 60 druid with NTOV gear (better) and one is a 60 shaman. Both can crack and solo the plane. The 60 druids cracked and kept the plane open waiting for our friend's spirit of shissar spawn, then when it popped invited 5 of us in to help him kill it. When I zoned in, I was the 2nd of two people in the zone. I had a nice leasurely walk to the north wall, camped out just in case, then proceeded to help the druid clear his way to the shissar while the others arrived (54 ranger at the time). The single hardest part of this zone is the break. Breaks are where raid go bad here more than anywhere else. (Though once, on another raid, we aggrod one of the DT golems and didn't know it till he summoned and DT'd all of us--was kinda funny). I think ("think" being the operative word that both of my friends that solo here have a certain path they run to get to the north wall that allows them to get there fast and camp (or /q) out before anything they may have aggro'd gets to them.

When CT spawns he does not launch mobs at you nor does the zone neccessarily instantly respawn everything. Was just in Fear. Had cleared about half the zone and CT spawned. We immediatly beat feet back to the west wall camp. And got ready. Thing slowely began to respawn. We just kept pulling everything around us until trackers reported the zone appeared to be fully respawned. Then you proceed to redo the plane. The incidents below sound like a mob or two happened to respawn near your group. Mobs here do tend to share aggro so often aggroing one wrong mob can get a chain of them coming at you. The key is being prepared. We had our monk pull what he thought was 4 mobs. Wound up with 12 in camp. Do to excellent work by all and especially the 2 chanters we only lost 2 people.

Bottom line is when CT spawns get to either the north wall or west wall camp fast and just sit tight and clear around you till respawns stop.

My first time on Fear: A primer and a warning
# Mar 18 2002 at 4:49 PM Rating: Excellent
This was my first time on Fear, and it was a classic. Anyone wishing to tackle Fear Plane the first time should be prepared to undergo a similar ordeal. I thought I would post this so anyone going might know what to expect in the worst (or at least a very bad) case scenario. It could have been worse, but boy, that would have been a *really* good story.

To whit:

I was a visitor on this raid, with a guild who had been to fear several times before. We met in the hidden cave, with around 35 showing up initially. It took about an hour to buff, form groups, wait on stragglers, and gird our loins. Three teams entered for the break-in. It took about an hour for them to clear to the west wall. Losses were minimal. The rest of us followed with no resistance.

We all knew what to do if you're teleported (some mobs randomly teleport you)--count to ten, and if you're aggro'd just get a loc, stand still and die in a convenient spot. DO NOT TRAIN MOBS TO YOUR SAFE SPOT. DO NOT KILL YOUR ENTIRE PARTY. There was not a single add from random teleport the entire night. No one wandered off sightseeing "just to look at that spinney thing over that hill". Not a single mez was broken out of sequence. These people worked well together. I was proud to be with them.

For about an hour and a half we fought south to the southwest corner, then headed east along the wall clearing as we went. Pulled Fright and would not have had any problems if he (she? it?) hadn't got stuck in a tree and refused to come down. Lost about 10 do to wild aggro, but still not a problem. All were rez'd and back in the saddle in no time.

The raid had just started clearing to Dread when Cazic himself shouts:

"Arise my minions and rape the interlopers"

or something close to that. And raped we was, killed quickly, and then raped again (not quickly). Everything in the zone attacked us. I mean everything. Two monks, a necro and one SK survived via FD. No one managed to camp out, in part because no one started camping until it was waaaay too late.

Here's the warning: The entire zone had repopped. Even Fright, whom we had just killed minutes before. Needless to say, the four survivors didn't survive long, they just died in different spots than the rest of us.

No one knows if this was a bug, or if the Plane of Fear works differently now since the overhaul of the CT zone. But boy did this hurt real bad for a real long time.

Eventually we had to get a couple of parties from another guild (all of whom had their clothes on, unlike us) to help us break into Fear and clear out everything that we had just cleared. It took 8 hours after we died (for the lucky ones) before we got our corpses. Needless to say no rez's were involved, just loot up and gate the hell out. It was daylight when I went to bed and it took me two days to recover.

A few very unlucky souls were randomly teleported before they died, so their corpses were off in the hinterlands. One poor ******* ended up over near the temple of CT, even though he was no where near there when the fight started. He didn't get his corpse until over 24 hours later when another raid had cleared most of the plane the next day.

Morals of the story:

1) If you are going to Fear, allow an extra 8 hours for CR.
2) Even if you are with good people, mistakes happen.
3) Even if you don't make a mistake, weird crap like a zone repop can make you wish you were dead, except that you *were* just dead and you didn't like it at all.
4) If you see Cazic-Thule shout "Arise my minions..." just camp now. DO NOT WAIT FOR CONFIRMATION FROM YOUR RAID OR GROUP LEADER. CAMP! CAMP NOW YOU FOOL!
5) Pack your appropriate *******(s) with broken glass to wreck maximum damage on those minions, in case you don't get camped out in time.

Other than that, I had a lovely time.

Cheers,

Brochis, 50 SK

You were the unfortunate victims of CT popping in the middle of your raid. See, when CT spawns, EVERYTHING in the zone respawns. I think this is so you can't clear fear in anticipation of CT spawning and then have a free and clear shot at him when he does spawn. Since the zone has to be clear when CT does spawn because he calls all the mobs to him when he is engaged.

Warning
# Feb 23 2002 at 10:08 PM Rating: Decent
If Cazic shouts (in red) Arise my minions blah blah blah... EVAC Immediately. He is respawning the zone and sending at a minimum 18 mobs straight to you. These mobs are different than normal break mobs....they see invis and aggro one you aggro them all. They remain as wanderers long after your dead. This makes re-break a pain in the XXX.

Wizzy and Sham FYI The Iskar Broodling isnt just a roamer in PoF.
You have to kill golems, dreads, fright terrors, or Terrors to get his spirit to spawn.
I have seen him spawn off of Dreads and Terrors personaly although, have heard of him spawning off of Boss mobs also.

Soloing is not an option in here.(for the common high level character) Almost everything sees invisible, and are hard as hell to kill.. The place is crawling with evil creatures, and if you first get one on ya (wich will most likely rape your sorry *** before you can type "dead") There will also very likely be be ads.
I'm just posting this cause I have been there before, and seen entire guilds being whiped out, and had to do CRs for like 7 hrs or even more.

I wouldn't recomment *trying* to solo anything in there. Your best bet would have to be a guildraid. Or if your guild doesn't have the forces to do it, pick up raids is a good alternative.

I'm going there tonight. *cheer* I expect to die, I expect a LOT if waiting for rez, but in the end I also expect to have a great time with my guild, and perhaps some good loot for everyone to share.

8hrs??? I was in there with my guild on saturday, we cleared the plane including the castle (while waiting for golems to spawn) then waited over 14 hours (ugh). Normal mobs only started to respawn after 14 hours. We were quite disappointed that named did not spawn. I've heard that golems supposed to be 72 hours, but 72 hours doesnt seem accurate. Anybody know?

If someone dies, and is coming back nekkid, he may get attacked. If you see one of your group members quickly losing health. Split Cash with the group. That way, money is transferred to the him before he dies, and thus has a longer time to fetch his body.
Fear and dying
# Sep 24 2001 at 7:27 AM Rating: Default
Just have to say again. Plan on dying, expect to die, Don't expect a rez before your rez timer runs out. If you go with those expectations then chances are you will be happily suprised and have a good raid.

Did one last night. Used the tactic of send in magician with CoH's with someone in the magicians group staying in Feerot to do invites. First people CoH'd over to Northwall camp were those that could feed the magician mana. Then Tanks and support were to start. Of course on the first run to the NW a few died. Then some monks who thought they were invisible started trying to get corpses before rez timers ran out. Wound up training the camp twice. 7 hours after starting we finally were all in and proceeded to easily wipe out everything. The Raid leader did a great job. The Magician with CoH's did a great job. Only problem was people worried about losing some xp and wanting corpses pulled before the camp could handle a train.

If you go expecting to die and loose xp you will have a good time and the raid will go well and chances are you won't die or loose xp. Just be prepared for it.

Well, this is how we do it...

I'm a lvl 56 necro, we were close to temple along zone wall. I would get an aego and a symbol. Get right next to fire ring, and harmshield, book in and get everything really mad at me, then run out into the ruin area, then I fd when hs wears off, or die like a complete wimp, someone tags, and runs around like a fool with a bunch of amy's chasing them, and someone tags singles off them, it's pretty easy. In fact, most mobs in this zone are easy, the first plane I went to was growth, and the mobs there make these look like orc pawns.

The way we've done it in the past takes 2 necros and a shadowknight. Both necros should have harm-shield up. The 3 setup their camp shortly outside of the fire wall and feign. First Necro puller hops up, and when he hits the fire wall pops his harm shield. Run up to the temple close enough to get agro. Drag all amy's to the other two feigned. If he dies, second necro hops up, pops harm shield and gets agro...feigns by the SK. Shadowknight hops up and kites in front of camp while picker/pickers do their job.

Can't pull them single, no way, no how. Strategy we have used to pull temple takes 3 pullers, at least 2 of which must have Jboots (sow will be dispelled more than likely). First, the rest of the zone must be cleared. Sacrificial lamb walks up ramp, temple will agro about half way up. He takes roughly 6k in harm touches. Second puller then range agro's them and trains them around the zone, away from main camp. Third puller peels off two or three at a time from the back of his train and takes them to main camp as fast as your raid group's can drop them.

well from my experiences in places like the planes ,kael ,tov SK's are the best pullers..

there are lots of SK's these days but the few that were lvl 60 a while back were not just the regular Tom,**** and Harry like all the Monks that there are and it was these elitists that have proven the SK

there are far too many monk morons where as the old SK's are more hardcore players in my opinion these guys rule
Both SK and monk can FD but the SK is tougher and also has Spells that aid in splitting mobs with FD pulls...like darkness line

So imho if you are looking for a Puller for your raid don't go past a high lvl SK with a good rep because as far as pulling goes there are no better...you might find a monk just as good but you won't get one that's better i can guarantee that..

ps..i dont play a SK just giving them the rap they deserve for being good at something

As this discussion is about Fear specifically, you really don't need a FD puller. You want a high level character, with good resists, and preferably (but not necessarily) a decent amount of hp.

If you FD in Fear because you don't want to die, you'd better tell everyone in the group to wait several minutes, while you quit out and come back. Otherwise, that little frightfinger (or whatever you were pulling) is going to run off and tell his DeathTouching (instant death, they'll shout your name, and then you die) friends about you, and they'll nail you from across the zone. Just remove the FD hotkey from its slot and forget it exists until you leave the zone.

only faction hits u get are fear faction, i have not heard of u being kos anywhere from huntingin fear. even if u follow ct, he and his mobs might still attack you, dont know why, its weird like that, you are afterall stepping into his domain unwanted.

an iksar asked this before but i didn't see an answer: what faction hits do you get in Fear? is everyone KOS to everything? can a cazic-thule cleric walk in without getting aggroed? will it affect paineel or cabilis factions?
thank you hoss and mythic legion

I just wanted to thank hoss for helping us out in fear on cr monday nite before patch,
and mythic legion for helping us with cr tuesday after patch.<good luck raiding>
This was my first time in the planes, it didnt start out too good as we got to the west wall without incident, however too many newbies with us that did not listen and trained the camp before we had a chance to group and offer resistance. people i cannot stress this enough if you get aggroed stand and die like a good soldier u will be rezzed and raid will go on. running back to the camp just got all of us killed, thank you very much you know who you are, and ill be dammed if you ever come on a plane raid with us again.
my sincere thanks to Hoss Woot you guys rock, and to mythic legion you guys rock as well, and were tearin the place up as we got our corpses,
We are all very gratefull and will not forget this thanx again :)>
If you ever need anything please do not hesitate to ask
