Najena, a dungeon located in the southeast part of the Lavastorm Mountains, is named after one of the more notable magicians of Antonica.

You'll need to pick up various keys to get around this place:

- Guard's Keyring (dropped by ogre guards and Moosh) opens prison cells.
- Shiny Metal Key (dropped by the Guard Captain) opens the first cell leading to Rathyl.
- Dull Bone Key (dropped by BoneCracker) opens Rathyl's cell.
- Bloodstained Key (dropped by Rathyl & Drelzna) opens Drelzna's room
- Golden Crescent Key (dropped by Drelzna and Najena) opens Najena's room.

Yesb I am looking for a item for the Ghoulbane Quest it is the nobleman's hilt if I am correct but I can't seem where to find the skeleton that has it I think the skeletons name is just a skeleton but can't find him can someone give me directions to this skeleton or something please cause I already have the blade of nobility and crazed ghoul heart.

There are at least two skeletons who drop the Hilt. One of them aggros if you take that left turn (after the Najena sign) through the archway with the hanging spikes... the other one when you get near the water. They are ornery as heck - they have never killed me, but they hit hard even at 39; I would guess they are in the high 20s or low 30s. Kill a few of them - they sometimes drop shoes...

Well according to the quest info on this site:

Your target is high level skeletons in Najena (right inside zone past first skel)

So, it doesn't sound like it's any particular mob. Perhaps you're not attacking high enough level skellies? The quest is listed as being 30th level, which I've generally seen to mean that the mobs you have to kill are within a few levels of that (except at the very high levels). So, you're probably looking for 30-34th level skellies.

Here's the deal. A was in a group consisting of a 13 DE Warrior, 12 DE SK, 12 DE Necro and me, an 11 DE Cleric. We sat in the entrance to Najena, 1o feet from the zone, and our warrior pulled skellies and ogre guards back to the zone. The exp was awesome and it was pretty safe, with the zone right there as a last resort. We managed to take out a lot of skellies, large and greater, and ogre guards before one of us died. With a full group around the same lvl, we actually ran into the dungeon and hunted for about 15mins before a skeleton wiped three of us out. Becareful in this zone, it can be dangerous, AND DONT FEAR! if you are in your teens, grab some buddies and head there, stick to the entrance and be careful, and you will recieve great exp as well as free bronze weapons for your pets! Very good advice.

Previoulsy, I had only considered Najena as a safe haven to zone into after taking on one to many Fire Imps - or more accurately, was jumped unawares and had to run like a girl to the Najena zone line.

I happened to start talking to a 20th level warrior by the zone line, and she took me under her wing to explore a little in Najena.

Unrest rules apply here: take out any of the 'trash' in the entryway because they will agro on anyone below a certain level -- all the skeletons agroed on me as a 16th chanter.

**Note: the 'piles' of bones on the floor throughout the entance and in the corners (3 or 4 spawns) in the first round room from the entance-way, with the fire burning in the middle, and an Ogre Guard spawn, are various Skeletons. All conned 'green' to a level 16 but would *still* agro <mutters>.

There are two other exits besides the entrance-tunnel in this room: (i) a cavern to the left which eventually leads to the prison with the false wall, and the Entry room with the Terror Tentacles on the right; (ii) a cul-de-sac straight ahead with two Terror Tentacle spawns; one spawns in an alcove on the left hand side, and the other in the right hand corner.

After we cleared the first room with the fire, we then moved into the cul-de-sac keeping our backs to the right hand side of the wall. As stated in previous posts, the TT's [Terror Tentacles] cast a buffeting spell which will 'buffet' you from one side of the room to the other.

The first TT spawn, I was little more than a spectator because even after applying Tashan, none of my spells would stick on tombstone RED mobs. The second spawn was a little better as I was able to mesmorise one of the TT's - although, these spawns curiously proved *much* tougher than the first.

Experience is absolutely rocking -- far better than Oasis at this level. However, one must apply experience/loot with the risk factor .. there were a few extremely *hairy* moments: the second TT spawn in the cul-de-sac left us both on 1 health bar each; an over-pull due to a runner in the Entry room resulted in the pair of us running to the zone line like girlies, being chased by 1 Terror Tentacle, 3 Earth Elementals, 1 Magician including pet, as well as all the green mobs which immediately agroed on our fleeing selves.

The only deaths occured when we over-extended ourselves pulling beyond the room with the 'false' wall - which eventually leads to the prison - as even with a recruited 17th level cleric, 2 female necromancers with 2 pets, and the added inclusion of a Darkbone Skeleton, resulted in a group wipeout. Fortunately, a high-leveller dragged our corpses to the zone entrance.

**Note: over-extension. The above post quite rightly, illustrates that a low-mid level group must generally stick to the entrance tunnel and a little beyond because if an over-pull results in a CR invisible will *not* work on the undead, and invisible to undead will *not* work on the non-undead mobs.

Apart from a 29th level Rogue who was after the hilt, we were the only other people in Najena - save from a few high-levellers who popped in later. Even when I have used Najena as a safe haven, performing a /who will rarely display more than a couple of people.

I hope to hunt and explore in this dungeon for a good while yet.

I have never been here before and wanted some advice please. First, what is the easiest way to get here for non evil races? Second, where can I get bound since I am a melee class? Third, is it safe to solo here at lvl 29, and what should I hunt if I do? My main reason for coming here is to pick up an item I need for my crafted armor, but would love to pick up any other loot I may find. hehe Thanks

The safest way to go to Najena is to ask a druid to port u to Lavastorm Mountains. Or ask a ranger/druid for camo and sow (as i did)or wolfform. The DE guards don't see through camo. I don't now iff it's possible to bind yourself at the Temple of Solusec Ro. Ask around for that.
As iff its safe for a lvl 29, yes the entrance is, but u will not find exp there. I am a lvl 31 pally and i stick to chasing the 'a skeletons' further on in the dungeon. I never needed LoH for them, but i have my undead DD spells and IoK. I lose about 1 to 1 1/2 hp bub and half mana. Then i med on and take the next one. If u stick to these guys i think u will be OK. If u find buddies there u can go take on the Bonecracker, Rathyl, Drelzna and finally Najena.
I did them with a lvl 34 shaman, a lvl 26 rogue and me lvl 31 pally and we had no problems exept with Najena. But we survived it all. GL though.

at the time this is written im a 44 necro..so i camped nanjena got my fbr..waited for respawn found out fbr was lore. i then decided to go kill the widow queen..seeing how nanjena was soooo easy to kill.and suposedly the boss of this dungeon i figured the widow quenn be a push over..Silly me i didnt con her ..she was blue to me and hit for avg 80..my pet no where near..so lets just say i died before i could even get a life tap off..second try..had pet..lvl 44 augment dead..she wiped the floor with it and then came after me..siphon life is dreadfully slow to be constanly interupted..death #2..so i tried the unconventional..fear kited the big B.... not very conventional in a dungeon but what i do best..in c.o.b form and at my lvl nothing else agroed and pay back was sweet..stilletto not bad either.might try it out someday..even though melee is behind me.maybe ill make a rouge : )

Large Bronze

I'm a big lady, and i'd like to get hold of some large bronze armour. I've heard it drops in Najena. Is this true. If it does, what drops it? If it doesn't where do I go to loot large bronze?
RE: Large Bronze
# Jan 11 2001 at 10:23 PM Rating: Decent
Large Bronze drops of the Ogre Capt. He is mid 20ish, cons blue to a 31st lvl. I have killed him about a dozen times and got 4 pieces of Large Bronze - Shoulders, Legs, Bracer, and Arms. The Bronze seems to drop pretty common of him. Beware, he has at least 2 guards in the room with him. A small group of friends and I where killing Bonecracker. Once the room was clear, or Ranger would pull the Capt and Guards into the room. Since everything spawns sooo slow here, you have time to rest before the Necros and Bonecracker pop again.

Last time I went looking for him, I seem to remember Bonecracker's door being up on a platform with no way to get up there - and I actually did have Dead Man Floating on me at the time. How do you get up there? What did I miss? Thanks for the help.

That door leads up to the room with Trazdon and the ogre officer. Theres no way to get up not that big of deal just walk down the hall you'll find the door that leads to bonecracker and another that leads to the room with Trazdon.
Level 20 - 22 - Hunting Tentacle Terrors

I personally find there are many times when I only have a limited time to play, and want to play solo. I found this zone to be a good place to solo at level 20 to 22. You just need to hunt tentacle terrors. There are two spots you need to hunt to kill these critters. One is real safe, and the other can be a little more dangerous. The first one is basically straight back from the zone entrance. Keep running, past the ogre guard until you hit a little cave. Two tts spawn there, and you can easily kill them one at a time. The spawn rate is pretty slow though, which is why you really need to run to the other point. This is through the other entrance in the ogre guard cave and back through a doorway to another cave (man this is a lousy description - just get a map). Two more tts spawn here, along with some magicians, who should normally not agro on you. You do have to pass some elementals which, although likely green to you, will occasionally attack you on the way there, so be careful. You can really work all four of these tts without too much trouble. They are decent xp and mediocre loot, but hey it's hard to find a decent solo spot by this level. One tip on fighting the tts is to anchor yourself against a wall (assuming you're a caster) and blast from there. This is because they cast a spell that hurls you backward, and can make fighting them awkward if you aren't already back as far as you can go. The other nice thing about this is that this area is often available even when the server is fairly crowded.

A shadowknight is awesome here. I would always darknes a mob when it hits about 1/4 life, and if it can still run i finish it off with HT (there is plenty of time to rest to full for the next one).

This is in the first room, the second is a bit easier to split because they have to run farther before things help out and by then i can do enough damage to stop them. the only problem is when ogre guards run by but it doesnt happen often

Oh by the way, when you are running from TTs its pretty cool to get thrown in the direction you are running. In that case their spell actually helps :P

This is very true. However, to successfully kill the Tentacle Terrors solo, you need to have a way to immobilize them when they want to run. If you do not stop them quickly (either by quickly killing or stopping their fleeing), they tend to run into other things which will likely aggro on you --- ogres, elementals, skeletons, other terrors, etc. Therefore, a druid is best, as snare is the most effective halting spell at this level. However, a plain old fashioned root works as well, just not as effectively.

In fact, a necromancer is better than the druid for dtopping the fleeing TT. The combination of your engulfing darkness (necro snare/DOT), other dots, your lifetap and your pet whaling on the TT keeps the TT from ever getting out of the room. A word of caution, however, these boys hit hard. I have killed about 15 of these and only looted one T-whip.
The bummer about this zone is the aggressive, invis-seeing green elementals. A caster can have quite a time with 3 or 4 of them hitting him. They dont seem to be impressed by your level, although I havent been back there since 23.

I love this place because few folks come here and there is some good items to loot.
The aggressive green elementals are annoying but overall I like the loot here and some good xp. Spawn rate is slow but if you want an easygoing camp this is the place. Underrated.

I kill bonecracker all the time...probably 25-30 times in all. I think that the whip is rare, and the mask uncommon. I have gotten the whip only twice, but the mask about 5-6 times. You may be right, but the whip seemed rare to me.

Do the magicians in Najena still drop the shovel, broom, stein and torch needed for the mage focus items? I noticed they aren't on this loot table. EQ Atlas did an update of their zone report for Najena and they don't list these focus item components as loot either:(

I'm a lvl 29 mage and I'm trying to decide whether to hunt Najena or Cazic to get these focus components. Any info would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

I found the shovel, broom, stein, and torch here a couple of months ago. It's a lot less crowded here than Guk. Plus you might also get one of the torn pages you'll need later for your epic quest (got 2 of mine this way). And the Temple of Sol Ro is close by, so you can get your focus items soon afterwards.

It's also possible to find someone else who's found one of the items on something they killed and don't need so you can loot it.

I do advise you to get a map to this place, as there are a couple of pit traps that can cause you grief if you don't know about them.

Yes, the magicians in here will still occasionally drop the items needed for the focus items. Rarely. I've almost gotten a complete suit of damask armor, and only one focus item component kind of rarely. I'd go for the gators in CT all the way, they drop them fairly often.
Key System

This dungeon has a key system that you must follow in order to progress to the two important named Dark Elven females, Drelzna and Najena.
First you must kill the Ogre Captain for the shiny metal key and Bonecrusher for the dull bone key. Both of these NPCs can be found downstairs from the secret wall room.
After you have the first two keys you need to head down to the jail, preferably picking up a guard keyring from one of the many ogre guards in case you get stuck in the jail cells. Once in the jail you will find a cell in the corner that is locked with a few magicians in it. This cell is opened with the shiny metal key. Inside is another cell for which you need the dull bone key. Inside that cell is Rathyl who drops the bloodstained key and occasionally a travellers pouch or rarely a travellers pack, both being 25% weight reduction bags. When you kill Rathyl then Rathyl Reincarnate will spawn, a slightly harder version of him in skeleton form who drops nothing as far as I know.
With the bloodstained key you need to go back upstairs from the jail to find Drelzna's room, it is the locked one near the torture chambers. Inside is Drelzna and 2 necromancers. Drelzna drops the gold crescent key.
The gold crescent key will get you into Najena's lair which is reached through an underwater tunnel near the spider and goblin portion of the zone. Inside her room are 3 spawns. Two are magicians and one is either her or an elemental.

Summarized: Kill Ogre Captain and Bonecrusher to get to Rathyl. Kill Rathyl to get to Drelzna. Kill Drelzna to get to Najena.
