Located within the highest icy peaks of the Serpent's Spine Mountains is the home of the Krithgor, a species of giants which, unlike other giants in Norrath, are intelligent -- some even masters of magic.

Long ago and much to the chagrin of the other gods, Rallos Zek's creations, the giants, orcs, ogres, and goblins, invaded the Plane of Earth. Among the giants who did not partake in the war was Beltron, the Krithgor king, who died shortly after the war ended. The most noble of giants marched into Frostcrypt, the giant burial grounds, to lay their king to rest.

Rallos Zek, acting on what he saw as a betrayal, laid a curse upon the giants in Frostcrypt. He resurrected Beltron, and through him, went on to slay every living giant within Frostcrypt. These giants became the Shades of Zek, and their mission now is to end their creator's curse. They believe that in order to do so, every living Krithgor giant must be killed. To this day, the curse lives on, and so does the hunt.

Frostcrypt now - the TLP days.

For reference, writing this as of TLP's with all the benefits of over tooled melee and bloated gear compared to the original live experience.

75 Pally, 1900aa, 23k hp and 1700 ac. In era.

This is DEFINITELY an xp zone. Run through this with my wife's alt shaman ( smattering of DoDH group gear, Tacvi stuff and Anguish stuff ). Four at a time is no issue, Shackles of Tunare rarely gets resisted if you want to split mobs ( As a previous poster noted, they do tend to be packed in groups of 2-3 and often warp or randomly drop agro on pulls ).

Loot from the names is alt worthy, typically Texvu level stats. As a raiding tank, the only drop worthy of noting is a 30ac 30hp aug "Forged Froststeel Ingot".

Now to make this a more "Alla'esque" post.

Ran through here with my lvl 758 ranger and head shot the entire zone in one pull. Super easy camps and no issues. Could probably do this at lvl 3 with a bit of gloomingdeep gear and a box.
Do not xp here

This place was built for raids and not meant to xp in.

All the mobs are giants and immune to mez / calm. Tjhey are packed together in a corridor that was seemingly built for humans so each pull is usually 2-3. They are only low to mid 70s mobs but are massive undercons and hit similar to high 70s. The pathing is a nightmare and the giant will often get stuck until they teleport on top of you / healer. I could not effectively pull this place as a bard without quickly burning through my mana using fade nearly every pull.

If your group is strong enough to survive this place, you will be better off steamrolling high lvl content elsewhere.

Most of the mobs in the zone are undead - so that's good for my pally. Does anyone know if any are immune to stun? They're undead giants . . . soooo?

Endzones/tss/ and you

OMg an exspansion that depends on personal progression as well as cooperative effort to reach an end zone and /gasp the end zone is an instance ... wtf people jmping to the conclusion that you have reached the end zone cuz u git yer *** handed to you and then dogging the exspansion. The snippets of glory that does filter down to the masses should entice everyone to scramble like mad to faction and complete these demeaning tasks only then does the true rewards of Tss unfold.

some info

Every so often upon killing trash giant, a named skeleton spawns, saw 3 with different names, they give a single person quest that involves looting something and returning to wraithguards in Valdehom. Each three gave a different variant of same type of quest. Will edit if I can get the name of the quest.

Only drop worth mentioning was a Mark of Rallos Zek. Tagged as NO TRADE and QUEST ITEM. No stats.

end zone
# Sep 22 2006 at 10:45 PM Rating: Decent
TSS has two end-zones that are supposed to be of equal difficulty / reward. One of them is this zone, and the other is Ashengate. The end-zones are, however, instanced versions of the static zones (I assume they will be exact copies of the static zones in the vein of DpoB being the same as DSK), and in order to get to these instances, one must complete a series of (I believe) instanced progression raids, just like Anguish, Demiplane, and Deathknell. Have no fear, this expansion will have a progression path leading to an end zone (two in this case) that will stratify guilds according to their power.

If this was an end-game zone for TSS, that would be pretty sad. :)

Luclin - Vex Thal
Planes of Power - Plane of Time
Gates of Discord - Tacvi
Omens of War - Anguish
Drgons of Norrath - Vish
Depths of Darkhollow - Demi-Plane
Prophecy of Ro - Deathknell

Were defiantly NOT people in these zones the first day these expansions came out lol. Now if this zone is an end-game zone... I'll smack Sony lmao.

I was part of a group here the other day. There were several named up in the zone. Playing a Mage I didn't get to see how hard they hit. But our tank seemed to be hit by a truck (14k or 15k hp I think). Thank god for the the mana regen to lesson downtime. Our cleric (over 10k mana) had his mana go up fast. Anyway, after killing some at the zone there was a skelly that spawned. He was a task giver it seemed. Single tasks that requires you to turn in a item to the guys outside the zone. The Skelly spawned twice and gave different tasks. Two people recieved the tasks. I myself ended up with a quest tagged ring (no stat). I didn't get a chance to get a quest from a skelly since we started to explore. Some mobs do see invis vs undead. But not many. Just make sure you con them. The ent area and the rooms next to them do not see invis. It was when we started to go down the ramps that we ended up in trouble... Anyway, I just wanted to share my time I spent there. I hope this leads to some discovery on the quests from the skelly so I can do a turn in of the ring I got.

Does anyone know if these mobs summon? Is it only the named like most of the TSS zones? I would like to see is I can solo this zone with root and rot technique but do not want to attempt it until I know whether or not they will summon me and kill me in an instant.

All of the mobs in Frostcrypt will summon you and there are two groups of Undead Giants; one group is green colored and is near the entrance, the others are blue and are deeper inside Frostcrypt.

The Green ones usually have Krithgor in their names and those are the ones that spawn the nonaggro quest giving skeletons. They give out a total of five different retrieval quests and they all give the same reward: XP, +50 Wraithguard and Wraithguard Leadership faction, and some no trade potions that will help you against the undead giants. So they are worth doing if you are of the appropriate level or if you like faction quests.

The Blue ones usually have "of Zek" in their names and those are the ones that drop the quest items you need to retrieve and they also give you some positive Wraithguard faction like those kobolds in Blightflire Moors do. They also drop weapons unique to the zone that are essentially worthless, however they, and the Greens, also drop elaborate and elegant defiant gear and rank II spells of level 71-75; and best of all, they are cash pinatas like the HGs of the original EQ. They drop cash, diamonds, blue diamonds, serpent spine diamonds and shaped taaffeite that sells for 571pp to vendors and valuable giant loot items like the giants in Goru'kar Mesa so it's a good fundraising zone.

I hope this helps, have fun and try not to die.
