Ashengate serves as a reliquary for the preservation of one of Veeshan's crystalline scales. It was once part of the Nest in the dragon Broodlands, but is now located in one of the highest points of the Direwind Cliffs.

Long ago, Solusek Ro unleashed his jealous-fueled wrath against the Elddar elves, drying their city out in the burning sun. He did this by arching the Serpent's Spine Mountains in such a way that caused Ashengate to shift far up and away from the Nest.

Lethar, one of the Guardians of the Scale, survived the violent land shift and became determined to hoard the scale for himself, something he accomplished through treachery and deceit. He had a son named Dyn'leth, a creation of elf-dragon blood. Dyn'leth was created to do his father's bidding, but it wasn't long before he developed a lust for his own power.

Mobs are packed together and cannot be calmed (and several cannot be mezzed) BUT they have seemingly tiny reactions and can be single pulled. Lots of roamers if you set up camp in the wrong spots. I recommend either pulling to the zone in or going to the east wing. Once you hit the open area with the drakkins you can head right just outside the door by the griffins and this corner is a safe spot to setup camp.

Mob difficulty is medium for their level.
thanks alot

Bet it would be a great place if you could actually get to it! I have been told this is the place to go to solo/molo for Xp. Good ole SOE of course has to make another zone with high lvl mobs guarding it.

How do I get into this zone? I see 2 large guards that are KOS and yellow to me at 77. Since it's a hot zone, I'd love to zone in and enjoy it. I've been away for many years, so I'm learning my way around ~ and any help would be appreciated.

Thanks In Advance

To get there, the 2 stone guards are lvl 80, and if you can go inv, first take out the guards, if you can, I am boxing a ranger and dual zerkers, with a healer merc, a tank merc, and a DPS caster merc, and it got a bit touchy, due to how hard they hit, but, I was able to take them out, and used the ranger AA group camouflage, and once I got past those guards(Which obviously see invis.), I ran my toons all over back there, and had no trouble, which the zone exit/entrance is not much past the guards, it is kinda like the ramps in the sunderock zone, that zig-zag back and forth, or like the way into the black feather roost zone, up the side of a mountain, zig-zagging back and forth until you come to the zone exit/entrance, and there is a short strip area between the wall and the mountain side, which there are a few roamers in that area, but nothing big, like the guards, and besides the guards, from my experience running around behind the guards, there is nothing that sees invis, as well.....

To get there from PoK, you take the CR(AKA Crescent Reach) tome, head North(Towards Goru'Kar Mesa zone.), then once in Mesa zone, you head along the riverside, and when you come across the 2nd bridge, you cross it, and head behind the hill to your left(Where the Centaurs are at.), and once around there, you go towards the 2nd hill/mountain and go behind that, which you will come across some ring snakes in the area, and head NE(If memory serves me right.) from there, you will see an opening between the mountains, which is the zone in for Sunderock Springs, now, once you enter Sunderock Springs, you head north, you will go up 2 sets of zig-zag ramps, and once you get to the top of the 2nd set, you will head NE and keep the one mountain to your left, which will curve you around the base of it, which, on the other side is the zone entrance for Direwind Cliffs, which, I found the easiest way to get to the giant stone guards is, head NNE, and keep the Druid ring to your left, and the SK & other spell merchants to your right, and you will come across a skinny hill to your left, while a large mountain will be to your right, and when you follow this, you will come to a cave entrance to your right, go inside it, then follow it through to the other side, then when you come out, head a bit to your right, to get onto the ramp going up the mountain sides, while crossing a few bridges here and there, and once you get to the end of the ramps, and an open area, head NW(Maybe a bit WNW.), and you will see a huge wall, and along this wall will be the 2 stone guards, which do see invisible, so be careful, unless you are really high level, then go through the entrance they guard, and go straight back to the zig-zag ramps to the entrance of Ashengate!

That would be a pretty long run:
Crescent Stone -> Blightfire -> GoruKar -> Sunderock -> Direwind -> Ashengate

You could get a druid to TL you to Direwind or a wizard to TL you to Sunderock to save some time (also, the Guild Hall ports to GoruKar).

I'm a level 88 monk with full HoT T1 gear, and I'm soloing here with great xp as a result. I can handle up to 3 mobs at once (but try to take them one at a time), and the vendor and tradeskill loot is good. There are a few very good augs to obtain here as well, even for a high level.

My route is to go through the north gate, run past all the mobs, then FD when I get to the room where packs of 4-5 mobs are standing. These are not worth the trouble to fight. I remove agro, cast my buffs and Lesson, then work my way back towards the entrance. From there, I go to the west wing, and my Lesson will usually run out when I get to the long room with the statues and fire elementals. I can continue, but there are two very annoying spots further ahead that require a lot of effort (the pit with all the drakes and the pit with all the whirly stone mobs), so I just sprint past all the mobs towards the end of the wing where there's a teleporter that sends you back to the entrance. Rinse and repeat!

In one of the pictures above (hope it remains) is one of a tower of green light, off to side of the is a stone orb with a flame coming out. Click to zone out to DW and arrive on the steps just outside AG. This stone is found at the very end of the west tunnels in the lava room which is the last room. Alot sees invis so unless you're a Rogue or have plowed down this wont be a fun run. Handy for those that can get to it since this is one-way area.

Need to detail your answer with multiple questions.
They do summon, and you would have a hard time soloing.

Was roaming about on my Rogue, Bytesum, and nothing saw thru SoS that I came across. Since Rogue has the #18 part of the Wanderlust Lodestone quest, I explored a bit, and found the first two tasks.

Find the Artifact location 1378, 61.

Find the top of the Shattered Halls location 427, 398.

Like I say, nothing I conned detected SoS. Was either too tired or too lazy, but did not find the way to the Stone Bridge for the next task in the quest.

Unfortunately the scale of Veeshan would be immense - we'd be like fleas on a cat. Maybe there's an avatar of her or something that guards the scales, would be great to have another dragon boss or 4. Khal*
Actually.. her scale is in the game.. they has a screenshot.. and i has as me desktop background!

Umm, I do not think you would be able to see past her. Veeshan made claw marks on Norrath that are gigantic, covering a portion of Velious. She could probably exist as a smaller version, an avatar perhaps?
