The northern section of Qeynos is home to the Priests of Life, Silent Fist Clan, and the underground Circle of the Unseen Hands. Its front gate oversees the Qeynos Hills and protects the city's residents from troublesome Darkpaw and Sabertooth Gnolls.

Raising Faction?
# Feb 07 2001 at 4:49 AM Rating: Default
I'm an Iksar shaman and would like to do the Library book/Testament of Vanear quest sometime soon.

What can I do to get faction up high enough to complete the quest? I expect it to take some effort, but just need to know where to start.

For faction into Qeynos go to BlackBurrow and kill Gnolls, all the gnolls you can!
Also pick up every gnoll fang that drops and return them to Capt. Tillen in the SQ arena when you are allowed into Qeynos, these will give you even more faction and exp. When you receive the moonstones as a bounty for the fangs, take those to McNeal Jocub in Fish's Ale (tavern in SQ) that will give you faction with Karana Residents and the pally/cleric guilds in town.

How do barbies buy ANYTHING in this town?
# Feb 01 2001 at 3:47 AM Rating: Decent
Well, OK, so I'm exaggerating.. but seriously, I must have found ten or twelve merchants who were, like, "get out of my sight you &$^$#!"... my faction with the Merchants of Queynos is rockin' cos of all the ice goblins and knolls i've wasted, but these folks seem to be the pinnacle of snobbery and ungratefulness.

(Yes, I'm after the Serpent Sight spell, and supposedly someone in Qeynos sells it to 9th level chars... but first ya have to get over the bigotry! Grrf!)

If you need it that desperately, then either go back to Halas or get a friend to buy it.

While Lashun Novashun offers ok xp and a heal for turning in 4 Bone Chips, Wolten Grafe at the Paladin Guild in South Qeynos offers much better xp for 6 Bone Chips. If you need a quick heal, however, Lashun can hook you up.
bandit/gnoll runner
# Oct 20 2000 at 1:09 AM Rating: Default
in qenos hills a bandit runner makes a bee-line to the zone. if you follow him and zone a gnoll runner will be there in north qenos.Since this is a new critter in this area. I am thinking it is part of the loathesome individuals plot.
tubal weaver

just wanted to point out a few more things about the guy. 1) his faction is with the corrupt city guards. 2) he is lvl 14 or 15. 3)he is somehow involved with the loathesome individuals.

All i know about the loathesome individuals is that they are hired help in smuggling something powerful from Odus. if you follow the rude individual in south quenos you will stumble across a meeting in the lions mane inn. A day or 2 later. tubal weaver walks outside (still in zone) to the spot where the more powerful undead spawn. Unfortunately nothing came about.(i think people were hunting the loathesome individuals)

That is all i discovered so far, but it has my attention.

I occasionally see someone offering easy money for newbies. Hey, easy way to make 5pp! What a great deal! Talking to them, all they want for this incredible sum is for you to kill a fish! Unfortunately, they're not making this offer from the kindness of their hearts. It's not like some folks trying to help newbies by giving larger sums for items like bones or bat wings.

What these folks don't bother to mention about killing the Koalindil fish in the pool at the Temple of Life, is that it is one of the worst faction hits you can take. One fish kill will take you from indifferent to kill-on-sight (KoS) in Qeynos. You'll have a hard time making it out of the Temple of Life area alive. Also, you'd better hope you never need help from Rodcet Nife! This can effectively end your character at low levels unless you can get help relocating to a new newbie area.
Named Gnoll note
# Sep 05 2000 at 2:19 PM Rating: Good
In the newbie area, Fippy Darkpaw, or, rarely, Nixx or Grarrax Darkpaw, spawns somewhere to the left or to the right of the path, shouts to the zone, then runs to the guards. Fippy and Nixx are somewhere around level 5, and Grarrax is higher.

Off to the right of the path and near the zone line, at 1145, -145, is the gnoll Djerr darkpaw's place. Djerr is the common spawn, while sometimes there is a zombie, skeleton or K-something Darkpaw instead. They range in levels of about 3-7

Since those both have a spawn time of around 5 mins, its farly easy to battle one, wait a few mins to get your health back, then battle the other. While Fippy's exact spawn location is somewhat random, his path to the guards is always the same. He runs from his spawn point to a certain place on the road, then follows it to Qeynos.

On any server? I'd love to know what the loot and faction hits are.
As anyone ever killed Lt. Dagarok?
# May 11 2005 at 8:58 AM Rating: Decent
Day late and dollar short, but yes, I was part of a small group that killed the Lt. He ambushed me one day, while I was minding my own business, and it became a personal vendetta with him. Revenge was most sweet. As for faction, the good guards of Qeynos went up, corrupt went down, 1 other faction declined but do not remember. Loot was rusty and a few coin.

No. I have never seen this done, on the other hand I have witnessed a battle on the E'ci server in qeynos. Someone attacked the Priest of Discord, the guards Cpl. Lancott and Lt. Dagorik attacked the Priest. The PC died right away, but the Guards vs. PoD continued, every one in the zone gathered around to watch. Some, being stupid attacked the PoD and were quickly vanquished, others like me (at the time I was a low lvl wizard) cast buffs and heals on the guards. After this battle (which lasted a long time, and we had to follow the fight all the way to the QH zone line) there were many more ppl attacking the Pod, but never again have I seen any guards intervene.

Well first one must realize this place is one of the best newbie zones in the game, and this is not just my opinion, there is a huge number of level 1,2 and 3 creatures here.

First of all, Snakes are great to hunt, as they drop the skins, which sell for around a silver a piece and even more important are stackable (great for us newbies who don't have many places to put stuff, even at level one a good hunt at least till we can afford better bags)

Secondly there are bats in the area, bats drop wings, which are needed for the levitate spell , which is "needed" in several places in the game. A stack could sell to a merchant for 2gp, up to 10 times that amount to a higher leveled character in the same zone, not to mention what would happen if you trekked to lake rathe to sell your wares, I auctioned for a stack up to 5pp because I am lazy, I've seen other stacks go for 7pp (mwahahaha). Bats can also drop the rarer furs, which are also stackable, and still not bad money. For the first 2 levels perhaps only hunt the snakes and bats, you don't have room for much else, and just save the stacks.

Another great thing about this zone are the gnoll pups who rarely drop containers which save us newbies or experienced players alot of cash which could be spent on our beginning spells, or saving up for that banded armor (every gp counts)

There are of course the beetles, which if you already have some containers, are great to hunt, as their eyes sell for more than anything else to hunt, but tend to take up alot of room, but at the very least hunt em to replace than stupid worthless candle or torch. Be careful at level 2 even because they can and will swarm, good thing the guards in this zone are fairly good.

Now, as for the city itself, the gate is the most common meeting area, similar to the freeport gate. Of Notice is the balcony you can jump/levitate off of onto the head of someone unsuspecting, quite fun if you ask me. Especially when you are just a bit under the influence of mead.

Of course there is the Stupid Merchant that only the uneducated sell to Tubal weaver, a pun to the Merchant of Venice, of course he over charges, thats the joke, hehe. But don't worry, you will find a fast place to sell your booty at the general store, The Sneeds? or was it Gallaways? Perhaps sneed gallaway? (oh I forget, anyways its just the milk merchants ;) can be found by following the right wall after passing the gate area. They set up stop from Crows, an unpleasent establishment, where rogues and thieves hang out.
DON"T GO INTO THE SECRET AREA OF CROWS UNLESS YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE DOING. There are traps down there.
The monk guild can be found in the same plaza, as well as the POD (worthless POS actually and I'm not referring to the plane) but you can also zone into south qeynos from this area.
BTW in the pond is a zone into the sewer area, (not covered in this guide )

If you would have followed the left wall, you would first come to the area dominated by the ironforges There is all sorts of intrigue going on here, but the only thing really of interest is the cloth merchant (not much choice for you beginning casters in this area) who sets up shop across the way, and the jewel makers inside. The Jewel Shop in Qeynos contains every gem neccessary to advance your skill in the trade, as good as anywhere else save perhaps Firiona Vie for practicing ;)

Continue past and you will see some houses, and shops, rather worthless, but a quest or 2 starts here, and of course the Paladin/Clerical Guild (aka the UFO)

This guide will not even attempt to explain why the makers of this game placed a UFO in the middle of Qeynos.

Besides the quests that originate here, you'll often find mules killing the koalindi fish, needed for the stein of moggok, as an easier alternative than traveling to ak'kannon and back (although considering you have to travel to the ocean of Tears, You might as well do it anyways... But that quest along with all the others including the awesome rabid grizzly quest can be found here. For more info look at the quest database on this site.

And to continue our tour continue past the little quaint houses, and Paladin Guilde, and you'll eventually zone into South Qeynos, Where things like muffins, and fletching parts, and other oddities can be found.

Good Hunting

There is another entrance into the Queynos aqueducts that doesn't require foing past the guards. As you face towards the gate (south) follow the left hand wall past a round tower. you will see a wall with some ivy on it: this is actually a secret (well, not if you've read this post) doorway with a well behind it. Dive into the well and swim down and you will enter the aqueduct zone.

ya mentioned M&Ms but didn't say why you buy them, M&Ms are Milk and Muffins, all food and drink in the game lasts the same length of time in any particular zone, it will vary in different zones, aka desert of ro. why pay an gp, or even an sp fot food and drink when you can ger a milk and a miffin for 1sp, 2cp(12cp) or 6cp each?

M&Ms are the way to go

Since i was swindled by this guy i thought i'd post it and save other newbies some money. There is a merchant standing right inside the gate who sells all sorts of stuff. DO NOT BUY FROM HIM!!! His prices are VERY high. You can get a better deal elsewhere in town.
