Ok,once you figure out the city one time you know it already. Its got merchants allover, so you dont take more time.....But that Tubal Weaver guy is the worst, don't sell or buy from him...his prices suck. Sell to Connie Link in front of Ironforge's estate. It has a good newbie zone too. So this should make a good city for you,it has Qeynos Hills right out of the newb zone. Wisp essence is pretty good there from a wisp, but Greater Lightstones sell for 4pp from the merchants in Qeynos and MartonSayer in that little house in the hills.

These zones are awesome for starting brewing and baking. All you have to do is buy snake scales, bottles, and water flasks for brewing, and a loaf of bread, rat ear, jug of sauces, and (optional) a spit.

After you get to 21 in brewing, make malted milk by buying one milk, one malt, and one bottle each.

I got to 36 in baking and 26 in brewing as I write this nearly entirely in these zones. After all that, I spent about 10 pp and got about 8 pp back. All this with 113 cha and 139 int.

Wisp Essence??

I am a lvl 10 paladin following Rodcent Nife, and have been attempting to do my armor quest. I need a wisp essence of some sort, but cant seem to find one. I assume they drop off of willow wisps, but have yet to have one drop. A kind higher lvl druid was helping me kill them, as i cant hit them, but nothing. Someone suggested something about them being distilled? Any help would be apreciated.

Saw some wisp essence for sale on a vendor in Qeynos so it is droppable (can't remember what the graphic was though -- could be the same as a vial of mana).

Never heard of wisp essence, but once in West Commonlands-- not Qeynos--I had a "vial of smoke" drop off a wisp, a nodrop item. It looks like a bottle. I've killed a lot of wisps, and have only seen this once. I assume it is a fairly rare drop (at least in WC).

Wisp essence drops off of the wisps in Qeynos Hills, almost every time you kill a wisp. Just go out and hunt you some wisps and save GLS's for the concordance quest in NK.

The newbie zone in North Qeynos has been improved greatly when it comes to making money for newbies. The addition of new animals as well as some new loot means that one can now make enough for spells and some decent equipment (although I find the newbie armor quests to be quite good in that regard -- better than those in Freeport).

The best source of money are the plague rat tails that drop from large rats. These sell to merchants for about 1pp 7gp. The following MOBs also drop some quest items that sell to merchants for 2gp each:

whiskered bats -- drop eyes, backbones, fangs
decaying skeletons -- drop tibia
large rats -- field rat skulls

I hunted nothing but these animals in the zone, and had over 20pp by the time I was level 5. Can probably make much more, but the plague rat tails are not as common as other items.

Moving on to the hills will also produce more items from the gnolls scouts (various bones, hides and blood) that also sell for about 2gp. So things are finally looking up for this neglected outpost.

Addition: after a recent patch, there are some additional drops from rats (eyes) and gopher snakes (king snake jaw bones and scales/skins) that also earn decent money. Brought a couple of new characters here from levels 1 through 3 and hunted nothing but rats, skeletons, and gopher snakes (plus whatever gnoll pup attacked), and walked away with 30-40pp -- some good coin for the untwinked newbie to start out with.

newbie quests!(rogue)

>>Reldin Harkolis is found in the room off to the left of the qeynos rogue elader(the room with the double doors leading to it)

You say, 'Hail, Reldin Harkolis'
Reldin Harkolis says 'Hail Samedhi. Know that only within these few passageways and rooms whose borders are marked by the symbol of the Circle of Unseen Hands can we speak freely of our organization and its undertakings. Neither the streets of the city above nor the sewers and catacombs are free of ears that would harm the Circle of Unseen Hands should they hear of our [secrets].'
You say, 'what secrets?'
Reldin Harkolis says 'The Circle has many secrets some of which only Hans may know. Our agents are all about, mingling among the common law abiding folk and working in all manner of profession. At one time we had a significant number of the Qeynos Guard allied to our organization but the loyal soldiers of Antonius Bayle IV has discovered and punished many of them. The ones that remain are hesitant at best to continue their association with us. You will need to exercise much caution within this city as you learn the ropes. I will help get you outfitted in some [gear] that you will find useful in our line of work.'
You say, 'what gear?'
Reldin Harkolis says 'Take this Curing Kit. With it you can assemble an outfit of light, flexible, and sturdy yet inconspicuous leather clothing to protect you from the perils of your job. The materials required will depend on the piece of clothing you desire to craft. Do you plan on crafting Sturdy Workmans [Gloves], Sturdy Workmans [Boots], a Sturdy Workmans [Bracer], a Sturdy Workmans [Cap], Sturdy Workmans [Leggings], Sturdy Workmans [Sleeves], or a Sturdy Workmans [Tunic]? Once you are suitably outfitted return to me and I will inform you of your [next job].'

You say, 'what gloves?'
Reldin Harkolis says 'To craft Sturdy Workmans Gloves you require two [silk thread], a ruined wolf pelt, two giant field rat whiskers, and a large king snake skin. Once you have the necessary components combine them in your Curing Kit with this Tattered Glove Pattern.'

You say, 'what boots?'
Reldin Harkolis says 'To craft Sturdy Workmans Boots you require two [silk thread], two ruined wolf pelts, two giant field rat whiskers, and a large king snake skin. Once you have the necessary components combine them in your Curing Kit with this Tattered Boot Pattern.'

You say, 'what bracer?'
Reldin Harkolis says 'To craft an Sturdy Workmans Bracer you require a [silk thread], a ruined wolf pelt, and a giant field rat whiskers. Once you have the necessary components combine them in your Curing Kit with this Tattered Wristband Pattern.'
You say, 'what cap?'
Reldin Harkolis says 'To craft a Sturdy Workmans Cap you require two [silk thread], a ruined wolf pelt, a large myotis bat fur, and a large king snake skin. Once you have the necessary components combine them in your Curing Kit with this Tattered Coif Pattern.'
You say, 'what leggings?'
Reldin Harkolis says 'To craft Sturdy Workmans Leggings you require three [silk thread], a low quality wolf pelt, two large myotis bat furs, and a giant king snake skin. Once you have the necessary components combine them in your Curing Kit with this Tattered Pant Pattern.'
You say, 'what sleeves?'
Reldin Harkolis says 'To craft Sturdy Workmans Sleeves you require two [silk thread], a low quality wolf pelt, two large myotis bat furs, and a giant king snake skin. Once you have the necessary components combine them in your Curing Kit with this Tattered Sleeves Pattern.'
You say, 'what tunic?'
Reldin Harkolis says 'To craft a Sturdy Workmans Tunic you require four [silk thread], a medium quality wolf pelt, a giant myotis bat fur, and a giant king snake skin. Once you have the necessary components combine them in your Curing Kit with this Tattered Tunic Pattern.'
You say, 'what next job?'
Reldin Harkolis says 'A message between two of our agents was recently intercepted by a Qeynos Guardsman. The message is encoded in thieves cant but should the guards eventually decode it we would expect trouble. Guard Gregor, the guard who currently is in possession of the message is out patrolling somewhere in the West Karanas. Find this guard and recover the message. GIANT FIREBEETLE LEGS - THE QUEEN

I was on an ALT and looking at Quests in MISTY THICKET. Came accross this one when playing and looked it up.

http://www.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=658

I Then was curious as to getting these "Giant beetle legs". I decided to hunt the QUEEN KLICKNAK (or whatever). I decided to take my ranger, because shes awesome for finding what I want, when I want. I kept seeing and Killing the prince and princess klickklacker bugs, I keep seeing all this crap about the Queen being a slow spawn, so i was looking into it. It seems the QUEEN (who I saw once in the secret area near gates - to enter aquaducts) is on the SAME track with the princess and possibly the Prince klicknik. That makes them potential place holders. This means they are either killed, OR something happens TO them (with them) and then the Queen is spawned. I also noticed, if I hit the princess and kept her alive long enough the prince Klikcer bug would start spawning.

(similar to Conflunk and Zarchoomie in BB - just look at the quest - in essence you kill a goblin shaman, cornflunk spawns on a SUICIDE run, hit him and keep him alive for 10 minutes, THEN the other hlaf of the quest (zarchoomie) spawns))

So I hit her and stood there for like 10 minutes. I am kind of wondering now if the prince and princess MAKE a queen (by doing the bipity bopity)... (but USUALLY get killed while on track) The queen spawns IN the secret area to zone into the Aquaducts, (where the prince and princess seem to go to (cough))

(I have seen her there for CERTAIN with Valdon)

Also North of the secret room, near zone edge (i have seen the prince and princess spawn here. The prince seems to prefer this location, then going to go meet the princess in the secret room. SOMETIMES she will spawn here. They both seem to have this suicide run if they spawn here. Its a South west run at a 45 degree angle, to the road, due south on the road, then dangerously close to the guards. Then they cut in to shack up in the secret room. I think they both have to survive to make QUEEN. Odds are next to nothing.

Another interesting fact. I am not sure if I should post, because its SOMEWHAT and exploit / spoiler. is...

It seems almost NOTHING will go through this secret wall either unless its on that track. Nova starshine or whoever, gnolls, named darkpaws. None of them. I would back in, and instantly the critter would turn tail and walk away as if I zoned. The prince, and princess will walk in. My guess is because its their track they ignore the wall, while other critters not on a track see it as a barrier. I got ONE rat to, but it took me stepping VERY carefully in baby steps. !!! The interesting thing, as they walked away, my arrows still landed !!! Esentually making a free killing zone. If stuff gets ugly you can also just zone into aquaducts....<ahem>

Might want to be added to known bugs / exploits.

Ok, monks should put 90% of there stats in agility when u first start the game. once your lvl 4 or 5, you should go to Blackburrow, which is located in qeynos hills. i went thre till lvl 10 or so but not sure. after that i headed out to Freeport which is way better than qeynos. i killed alegators and some other things like Derv Camps. after that i went to Orc Highway and killed the Orcs running around. then i went to Kunark at level 18 or so, in Kunark i went to Fironia Vie and killed Sabortooths, Sarnaks, and some high lvl skelitons. i left there at lvl 24 but could have stayed there till level 30. that place is tuff. i am almost level 30 so i am now going to kill Hill Giants in Rathe Mountains. you can see me in the rathe Server. any questions PLZ email me dllrock@yahoo.com

Corrupt Guards
# Feb 27 2001 at 9:46 AM Rating: Default
If you are level 12-14 you should be able to take the *corrupt* guards one-on-one, although make sure they con blue.

If you are amiable with the Guards of Qeynos faction, you can identify corrupt guards by conning them and getting an indifferent or dubious reaction.

The non-corrupt guards (usually conning red) will simply ignore the battle, letting you smite the corrupt guard with no intervention, plus you will gain faction with GuardsofQeynos.

Do be careful to avoid the pair of corrupts guarding the dock/marketplace area.. one of them cast some sort of spell which sent me running and made me attack the lady on the docks.. she whooped me with one solid 338 point THWACK!

Do the corrupt guards drop anything, or do you just get some faction and maybe some experience?

Corporal Lancot I think?

I'm the same, I plan on keeping Q-town my base for a long time to come. It's a nice place. However, at 12th level I'm having some problems finding a nearby place to solo. BB is always crowded. Western Karana either ends up with me running forever to kill a spider, then looking forever for the next target; or trying to pull or find one bandit and getting mauled when they train me. Then again, last time one rooted me, I killed her, then Choon stepped on me. Ouch!

Anyway, haven't you had to range a lot farther to keep gaining in levels?

For faction into Qeynos go to BlackBurrow and kill Gnolls, all the gnolls you can!
Also pick up every gnoll fang that drops and return them to Capt. Tillen in the SQ arena when you are allowed into Qeynos, these will give you even more faction and exp. When you receive the moonstones as a bounty for the fangs, take those to McNeal Jocub in Fish's Ale (tavern in SQ) that will give you faction with Karana Residents and the pally/cleric guilds in town.

All i know about the loathesome individuals is that they are hired help in smuggling something powerful from Odus. if you follow the rude individual in south quenos you will stumble across a meeting in the lions mane inn. A day or 2 later. tubal weaver walks outside (still in zone) to the spot where the more powerful undead spawn. Unfortunately nothing came about.(i think people were hunting the loathesome individuals)

I occasionally see someone offering easy money for newbies. Hey, easy way to make 5pp! What a great deal! Talking to them, all they want for this incredible sum is for you to kill a fish! Unfortunately, they're not making this offer from the kindness of their hearts. It's not like some folks trying to help newbies by giving larger sums for items like bones or bat wings.

What these folks don't bother to mention about killing the Koalindil fish in the pool at the Temple of Life, is that it is one of the worst faction hits you can take. One fish kill will take you from indifferent to kill-on-sight (KoS) in Qeynos. You'll have a hard time making it out of the Temple of Life area alive. Also, you'd better hope you never need help from Rodcet Nife! This can effectively end your character at low levels unless you can get help relocating to a new newbie area.

In the newbie area, Fippy Darkpaw, or, rarely, Nixx or Grarrax Darkpaw, spawns somewhere to the left or to the right of the path, shouts to the zone, then runs to the guards. Fippy and Nixx are somewhere around level 5, and Grarrax is higher.

Off to the right of the path and near the zone line, at 1145, -145, is the gnoll Djerr darkpaw's place. Djerr is the common spawn, while sometimes there is a zombie, skeleton or K-something Darkpaw instead. They range in levels of about 3-7

Since those both have a spawn time of around 5 mins, its farly easy to battle one, wait a few mins to get your health back, then battle the other. While Fippy's exact spawn location is somewhat random, his path to the guards is always the same. He runs from his spawn point to a certain place on the road, then follows it to Qeynos.

On any server? I'd love to know what the loot and faction hits are.
As anyone ever killed Lt. Dagarok?

Day late and dollar short, but yes, I was part of a small group that killed the Lt. He ambushed me one day, while I was minding my own business, and it became a personal vendetta with him. Revenge was most sweet. As for faction, the good guards of Qeynos went up, corrupt went down, 1 other faction declined but do not remember. Loot was rusty and a few coin.

No. I have never seen this done, on the other hand I have witnessed a battle on the E'ci server in qeynos. Someone attacked the Priest of Discord, the guards Cpl. Lancott and Lt. Dagorik attacked the Priest. The PC died right away, but the Guards vs. PoD continued, every one in the zone gathered around to watch. Some, being stupid attacked the PoD and were quickly vanquished, others like me (at the time I was a low lvl wizard) cast buffs and heals on the guards. After this battle (which lasted a long time, and we had to follow the fight all the way to the QH zone line) there were many more ppl attacking the Pod, but never again have I seen any guards intervene.

Well first one must realize this place is one of the best newbie zones in the game, and this is not just my opinion, there is a huge number of level 1,2 and 3 creatures here.

First of all, Snakes are great to hunt, as they drop the skins, which sell for around a silver a piece and even more important are stackable (great for us newbies who don't have many places to put stuff, even at level one a good hunt at least till we can afford better bags)

Secondly there are bats in the area, bats drop wings, which are needed for the levitate spell , which is "needed" in several places in the game. A stack could sell to a merchant for 2gp, up to 10 times that amount to a higher leveled character in the same zone, not to mention what would happen if you trekked to lake rathe to sell your wares, I auctioned for a stack up to 5pp because I am lazy, I've seen other stacks go for 7pp (mwahahaha). Bats can also drop the rarer furs, which are also stackable, and still not bad money. For the first 2 levels perhaps only hunt the snakes and bats, you don't have room for much else, and just save the stacks.

Another great thing about this zone are the gnoll pups who rarely drop containers which save us newbies or experienced players alot of cash which could be spent on our beginning spells, or saving up for that banded armor (every gp counts)

There are of course the beetles, which if you already have some containers, are great to hunt, as their eyes sell for more than anything else to hunt, but tend to take up alot of room, but at the very least hunt em to replace than stupid worthless candle or torch. Be careful at level 2 even because they can and will swarm, good thing the guards in this zone are fairly good.

Now, as for the city itself, the gate is the most common meeting area, similar to the freeport gate. Of Notice is the balcony you can jump/levitate off of onto the head of someone unsuspecting, quite fun if you ask me. Especially when you are just a bit under the influence of mead.

Of course there is the Stupid Merchant that only the uneducated sell to Tubal weaver, a pun to the Merchant of Venice, of course he over charges, thats the joke, hehe. But don't worry, you will find a fast place to sell your booty at the general store, The Sneeds? or was it Gallaways? Perhaps sneed gallaway? (oh I forget, anyways its just the milk merchants ;) can be found by following the right wall after passing the gate area. They set up stop from Crows, an unpleasent establishment, where rogues and thieves hang out.
DON"T GO INTO THE SECRET AREA OF CROWS UNLESS YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE DOING. There are traps down there.
The monk guild can be found in the same plaza, as well as the POD (worthless POS actually and I'm not referring to the plane) but you can also zone into south qeynos from this area.
BTW in the pond is a zone into the sewer area, (not covered in this guide )

If you would have followed the left wall, you would first come to the area dominated by the ironforges There is all sorts of intrigue going on here, but the only thing really of interest is the cloth merchant (not much choice for you beginning casters in this area) who sets up shop across the way, and the jewel makers inside. The Jewel Shop in Qeynos contains every gem neccessary to advance your skill in the trade, as good as anywhere else save perhaps Firiona Vie for practicing ;)

Continue past and you will see some houses, and shops, rather worthless, but a quest or 2 starts here, and of course the Paladin/Clerical Guild (aka the UFO)

This guide will not even attempt to explain why the makers of this game placed a UFO in the middle of Qeynos.

Besides the quests that originate here, you'll often find mules killing the koalindi fish, needed for the stein of moggok, as an easier alternative than traveling to ak'kannon and back (although considering you have to travel to the ocean of Tears, You might as well do it anyways... But that quest along with all the others including the awesome rabid grizzly quest can be found here. For more info look at the quest database on this site.

And to continue our tour continue past the little quaint houses, and Paladin Guilde, and you'll eventually zone into South Qeynos, Where things like muffins, and fletching parts, and other oddities can be found.

Good Hunting

There is another entrance into the Queynos aqueducts that doesn't require foing past the guards. As you face towards the gate (south) follow the left hand wall past a round tower. you will see a wall with some ivy on it: this is actually a secret (well, not if you've read this post) doorway with a well behind it. Dive into the well and swim down and you will enter the aqueduct zone.

ya mentioned M&Ms but didn't say why you buy them, M&Ms are Milk and Muffins, all food and drink in the game lasts the same length of time in any particular zone, it will vary in different zones, aka desert of ro. why pay an gp, or even an sp fot food and drink when you can ger a milk and a miffin for 1sp, 2cp(12cp) or 6cp each?

M&Ms are the way to go

Since i was swindled by this guy i thought i'd post it and save other newbies some money. There is a merchant standing right inside the gate who sells all sorts of stuff. DO NOT BUY FROM HIM!!! His prices are VERY high. You can get a better deal elsewhere in town.
