This is the final zone in the Prophecy of Ro expansion, and is the site of a power struggle between Ayonae Ro and the forces of Mayong Mistmoore. It seems Ayonae Ro has gone somewhat crazy.

There are four events in this expedition, each with a 4.5 day lockout timer:

- The Tolling of Dissonance Bells
- Vertigo
- Unwelcome Guests
- The Mad Choir.

For an overview of the Deathknell raid expedition, click here.

Level 72 is required to enter the zone without a key or flag on the live servers.
Everyone can enter the zone with a flag.

Went to Shrine and updated to Red shard of mana. Now with Suchun dead i got Vial of Smoldering Blood on cursor as well as my Black Shard of Mana. Took Black Shard of Mana to shrine got Divine Fetters of Ro. Then off to ToB handed in Inspiration of Jonthan. That means either 1) you don't have enough people in your group/raid to request DK, or 2) the zone is still spawning.

Sometimes I'll get that message for 15-45 seconds after the RL gets the expedition.

Also, occasionally you can get bugged, to where you just cannot get in. If this occurs, drop the raid and the expedition, and get new invites.

If it was a keying problrem, it would say something like "you cannot find a use for the statue". Wording is not exact, but something like that.

Do you NEED the enraged flesh charm for DK access? If someone has access to Razorthorn and ToB, has a Suchun, Sullon Zek and Daosheen kill, are they gtg for DK? Details seem to be sketchy on this and if Becoming the Vessel is needed at all. Thank you for any help.

In order to complete Divine Fetters of Ro, you must have an enraged flesh charm from becomming the vessel. Ive heard you can zone in but not loot anything if you have your ToB page turned in, however I dont know for sure since me and everyone else in my guild got fetters before we attempted DK.

anyone know if you can do the Sullon Zek portion before you finish Daosheen? Also was curious if there is a part in progression where you can be gimped in but not able to loot. Sony seems fond of that (signets but no seal for Anguish; Monocole but not 5/5 for DP).

Yes, you can get gimped into DK, as long as you have a page from 1 of the 5 Named in ToB. You cannot loot anything without the gimp flag item from one of the 4 encounter's inside. If you have the SZ kill you can turn in the changed shard of mana and then backflag the rest for full access and the fetter. You must have all parts of the flag tree done though to be keyed.

Right now we are 85% these folks into DK with ToB access and 1 page. I am not sure about the flagging out of order, it should still work but becoming the vessel is the most commonly missed step. I did it by complete mistake with a pick-up raid a few days after it went live. The rest of the kills are easy once you figure out the strats. Level 75 made SZ a joke to kill.

I did my kills out of order. I got Suchun first, then SZ, then Daosheen, and then I got my Enraged Flesh Charm. I ended up having to petition because I never got the task update for Daosheen, even though I got the orb. The same thing happened to a few other guildees, so there's a bug somewhere.

If you do them in order, Daosheen gives you a Black Orb of Daosheen the First, Sullon Zek converts your Shard of Mana to a Glowing Shard of Mana when you kill her, you hand your Glowing Shard of Mana to the Shrine of Druzzil Ro and get a Red Shard of Mana, and Suchun gives you a Black Shard of Mana when you kill him.

Doing them out of like I did, I got:

(Had Shard of Mana from various hailing)

After Suchun kill:
Got task update at the end of the Suchun fight
Got a Vial of Smoldering Blood, instead of the Black Shard of Mana

After Sullon Zek kill:
Got task update at the end of SZ fight
My Shard of Mana became a Glowing Shard of Mana

Went to the Shrine of Druzzil Ro. The shrine said:
The crystal sits on the shrine for a moment before it becomes obvious that no response is coming. Perhaps you have not proven yourself worthy of Druzzil Ro's attention.

After Daosheen kill:
Got the Black Orb of Daosheen the First
For some reason, did not get the Task update

Went back to the Shrine of Druzzil Ro. Same message about not being worthy.

After completing Becoming the Vessel:
Received task update
Got my Enraged Flesh Charm

Went back to the Shrine of Druzzil Ro. Got the same not worthy message, which is a bug. At that point, I should've been able to complete the Shrine steps. After my petition was escalated from the GM in India (who didn't help at all, and told me I hadn't finished progression even though he copied my toon and could see all the items in my bags) to a Senior GM in the states who was very helpful, my flag was fixed. He said they generally won't update flags, but because I had the Black Orb from Dao, it was pretty obvious I should've gotten the flag for killing him. We exchanged emails and I gave him all the log info I had and he submitted it all to QA. Hopefully they figured out what caused me to miss the task update because it happened to a few guildees as well. Best I can tell, it was dying and being in hover mode during Daosheen's actual death.

With a corrected flag, here's my Shrine text:

(Handed my Glowing Shard of Mana to the Shrine)

[Wed Oct 25 19:46:32 2006] Shrine of Druzzil Ro says 'So you were successful. I'm glad my faith in you was not misplaced. Give me a moment to examine the ward.'
[Wed Oct 25 19:46:32 2006] Shrine of Druzzil Ro says 'This ward appears to be ideal for my needs. I have made the necessary changes to the enchantment contained in the shard. Also contained in the shard is a drop of my own blood. As you may have gathered by now, there is more to these [troubles] than I have revealed.'

[Wed Oct 25 19:46:45 2006] You say, 'What troubles?'

[Wed Oct 25 19:46:45 2006] Shrine of Druzzil Ro says 'As I said when we spoke earlier, there has been a disruption in an aspect of divine magic. Unfortunately things are worse than that statement imply. The disruption of magic is in truth the corruption of my daughter, Ayonae Ro, by that vile fiend Mayong [Mistmoore].'

[Wed Oct 25 19:47:00 2006] You say, 'Mistmoore who?'

[Wed Oct 25 19:47:00 2006] Shrine of Druzzil Ro says 'It was only recently that Mayong achieved his goals of ascension. Since then his shadow has been weaving through the fabric of the planes and pantheon, causing dissension and corruption where there was none before. Because Mayong was never meant to be a god, he has no plane of his own. In his arrogance he claimed the domain of my daughter, Ayonae. After he forced his way into her plane things only got [worse].'

[Wed Oct 25 19:47:17 2006] You say, 'Worse how?'

[Wed Oct 25 19:47:17 2006] Shrine of Druzzil Ro says 'Just by his presence there he began to corrupt the very essence of the plane. Ayonae fought with him for a time, but was soon driven mad by the corruption. Since then Mayong has bent the plane to his will and closed it off to all. I can only guess at the state of things there now. It is for these reasons that I have sought, and continue to ask for, your [help]. For if Mayong can corrupt my daughter and take her home, we can assume he won't simply stop there. I have seen a dark future and we need your help to prevent it.'

[Wed Oct 25 19:47:40 2006] You say, 'I will help'

[Wed Oct 25 19:47:41 2006] Shrine of Druzzil Ro says 'My greatest concern is for the safety of my daughter. To that end I have put you on the path of this ward. Close though the ward is to completion there is still one part missing. The blood of Solusek Ro. There is one place on Norrath that you may be able to obtain a sample of his blood. You see it is the presence of his blood that created and maintains the dryness and sands of the Desert of Ro. That desert was not always as it is now. There was once a great [forest] there where the first elves lived.'

[Wed Oct 25 19:48:10 2006] You say, 'What forest?'

[Wed Oct 25 19:48:11 2006] Shrine of Druzzil Ro says 'You would know it as the Elddar Forest. The elves living there were the first creations of Tunare in Norrath who created fantastic thriving cities and villages in perfect harmony with the forest. Solusek Ro became jealous of these creations and sought to destroy them. In the heart of a great tree in the middle of the Takish-Hiz empire was a wondrous shrine to Tunare. It was there that he placed an insidious [poison].'

[Wed Oct 25 19:48:24 2006] You say, 'What poison?'

[Wed Oct 25 19:48:25 2006] Shrine of Druzzil Ro says 'Solusek used his own blood to create the downfall of Takish-Hiz. His blood scorched the land and gradually drew all water and life from it. The rivers ran dry, it rained less each year, and while the great elven druids fought long and hard, using their powerful magic to combat the blight, they could only delay the inevitable. Slowly the forest gave way to desert, and eventually even great Takish-Hiz crumbled and the elves were forced to flee or be consumed by the sand themselves. Even today you can still find the [ruins] of their civilization.'

[Wed Oct 25 19:49:13 2006] You say, 'I have seen the ruins'

[Wed Oct 25 19:49:14 2006] Shrine of Druzzil Ro says 'The great city of Takish-Hiz has left behind many of its structures, though they have been diminished by time. The great tree touched by Solusek can still be found by those who know where to look. I would ask that you find this tree and obtain a sample of the blood within in order to complete the ward. Be wary though, there is a [guardian] protecting the chamber from all who would enter.'

[Wed Oct 25 19:49:28 2006] You say, 'What guardian?'

[Wed Oct 25 19:49:28 2006] Shrine of Druzzil Ro says 'This creature was created from fire and Solusek's blood. It has guarded the chamber through the ages and is likely to be of unusual power. Caution should guide your hand in this, but should you find a way to defeat the guardian, and obtain a sample of the blood there, return to me and I shall finish the enchantment.'

Handing in just the Vial of Smoldering Blood gives:

[Wed Oct 25 19:50:00 2006] You must turn in all quest items at once in order to complete this quest.

Handing in both the Vial of Smoldering Blood and the Enraged Flesh Charm gives:

[Wed Oct 25 19:50:17 2006] Shrine of Druzzil Ro says 'The ward is almost complete. With the addition of the blood you have obtained I can finish the ward itself. All that is left is to put the ward to use. You must find a way to my daughter and use this artifact in her presence. I can only hope once she is safe we will be able to stop Mayong.'
[Wed Oct 25 19:50:17 2006] Shrine of Druzzil Ro says 'I'm afraid you are on your own in gaining access to Ayonae's home. As I mentioned earlier, Mayong has closed the plane off to all. There must still be a way to enter though. Should you find such a way you will want to speak with those that live there, they may be able to assist you more than I could.'

You get the Divine Fetters of Ro.

Hopefully that will help someone else if they're stuck.

Calli

EDIT: Just to add to what JWollenman said here, if you've killed all of the appropriate mobs but still not done Becoming the Vessel to receive your Enraged Flesh Charm, that's when you get the message that your friends helped you, but you must be able to enter on your own.

The quest to complete Dethnel access does every step need to be done by each person in your guild or is it like GoD where one does the main quest and the guild progresses with the raid portions of it?
DK Access quest

Dont see it posted here on the quest links but have found it elsewhere

if ya want to update here it is.
The Path to Deathknell

Gaining access to Deathknell is quite involved. Our story begins in West Freeport, at the top of the tower of arcane science. Here you find Emissary of Druzzil, speak with him and follow the dialog. He presents you with a Shard of Mana and tells you to go talk to Apprentice Mage Sarcrynn in Arcstone.

Apprentice Mage Sarcrynn speaks of Daosheen the Firstborn, who has locked himself away for over a hundred years. To gain access to real magic you must confront him, however the way is shut. Sarcrynn says he can open the way and gives the "Entrance to Daosheen's Chamber", requiring you to bring back four items:

Tooth of Tsikut
Tooth of Ashenback
Tooth of Shar'Drahn
Fragment of Porthio's Staff

When you return the four items, you get a book, Crystals of the Firstborn, which reads:

The cowards color for your strength, water to speed your limbs,
blood to free your voice, the color of life to cure.
Fire and ice to free your friends, sun and gras(sic) to restore them.
Crimson, Gold, Indigo, and Forest

You can now enter Daosheen's chamber. Get the task from *need name* and go kill Daosheen the Firstborn. Upon his death you are given a message that Druzzil wishes to speak with you. Take the Shard of Mana and visit the Shrine of Druzzil in Arcstone. Handing the Shard in puts you in communication with Druzzil Ro who tells you a story, it seems there is a disruption in the divine magic, and she wants you to help resolve the problem. Long ago Rallos Zek created a ward to bind Sullon into her tower. Druzzil feels if she was to obtain a copy of that ward, she could mend the divine magic.

You must find a way to enter Razorthorn, and at this point we recall what Maelin said after completing the Become the Vessel task, that gaining parts of the leaders in Devastation and Sverag may strengthen the Charm. You need to collect the Legendary Berserker Bones:

Bone of a powerful bazu
Bone of a great military commander
Bone of a bold invader

Once you have turned in the three bones, you are flagged to request the Sullon Zek raid from Oathmir in Devastation. Get the task, and kill her. Upon her death your Shard of Mana becomes a Glowing Shard of Mana. Take this Shard back to the Shrine of Druzzil to complete the second step towards Deathknell.

When you hand in the now glowing Shard, Druzzil gives you a Red Shard of Mana in exchange. She also continues the story, telling how Mayong has infiltrated and corrupted Ayonae's plane. He must be stopped. She says that she has added her own blood to the magic of Rallos' ward and all that is needed is a drop of Solusek's blood and it should be strong enough to aid in saving Ayonae from Mayong's taint. To get this blood, we travel to where Solusek used his blood to taint the forest, however it is guarded...

Head to North Ro and speak with Tak`Valnakor. He will offer a new raid task, to defeat the guardian Suchun. Upon Suchun's defeat, your shard will become Black Shard of Mana. Return to the Shrine and present Druzzil with the Black Shard. She tells you that the ward is now ready, all that remains is to gain entry to her plane. To do so, seek out the denizens of the Plane of Music.

We now travel to the Theater of Blood. Inside we find Eodue the Pure, a little fairy. Eodue wants your help in purifying the plane. It seems that 6 famous muses have been corrupted, Yadanu, Aedai, Raelo, Sialaen, Hiarith, and Aelly. Each has become a monstrous entity and renamed themselves as Valik the Cruel, Mad MaryAnne, Maestro Tan`lor, Vasella Fireblood, Gnarlibramble, and Anastasia the Thought Drinker respectivly. You must defeat these monstrosities and recover an Inspiration from any of them. Turn this Inspiration in to Eodue, and your task is complete. You are now flagged for Deathknell.

Has no one considered that our end boss may be some sort of Corrupted Ayonae Ro? Druzzil created the plane of music for her, and Mayong decided to go and corrupt the plane into the Theater of Blood.. I forsee the ending of the expansion being the purification by fire, or death, of Ayonae...

Wouldn't it be lots of fun if our end boss was some kind of super bard-like mob.. twisting songs into chords of destruction?

Perhaps with a nice, -500 MR check mass AoE charm spell? That'd be funny. :P The few lucky enough to resist, well.. hehe.

You have a good point about Ayonae Ro, and that'd make the lore a bit more.. well, interesting.

Purely speculative at this point, but I would bet that this is the end zone of the expansion, and probably where you'll fight Mayong Mistmoore. Again.

First, he was a simple immortal (vampire).

He rose to demi-god power by the time we saw him again in DoD, having his own demi-plane.

Now he should be a full fledged god, having lost the need to have a body and ascended to divinity. Why is he often still referred to as a demigod at this point? Simply because the pantheon isn't officially accepting him?

A bit delayed, but in Norrath, the "Gods" are the eternal beings (Fennin Ro, Rallos, Bert, Brell, etc) and their children are also only demi-gods (Terris, Mithaniel Marr, Ayonae, etc). In fact, often what we refer to as planes such as the "Plane of Nightmare" are demi-planes (Demi-Plane of Nightmare, Demi-Plane of Music, etc). The greater gods have full fledged planes (Fire, Fear, Water) and the full title of god. The demi-gods are created after the fact, generally by being bestowed Godhood by a greater god.
