| This is the EverQuest tutorial zone. It is intended for characters levels 1-10, though it won't actually kick you out until level 15. In the zone-in area, you will find many helpful NPCs, several spell merchants, a banker, a corpse summoner, and some task starters.
On Progression servers, it's available when Gates of Discord unlocks. A clan of kobolds has taken over control of the Mines of Gloomingdeep and have enslaved a number of goblins in the process. There is also a spider den in the south you should be wary of; enter at your own risk. And watch your step upon entering kobold territory. Don't fall into the pit! This zone has no direct entrance. Once you have exited the zone, either by taking the exit to Crescent Reach or by telling Arias 'I want to leave' and being transported to the Plane of Knowledge, you may re-enter the Mines of Gloomingdeep a few different ways. If you are level 10 or lower, you may re-enter by going to the character select screen and choosing "Enter Tutorial". Alternatively, you may tell Secalna Galnor 'send me back'. After reaching level 11, should you leave the zone, you can only get back into the Mines of Gloomingdeep if you are bound there, and then only by gating or dying. Players are forcibly expelled from the zone upon reaching level 15. This occurs, somewhat unpleasantly, by being forced to log out. At that point, when you log back in you will zone in to the Plane of Knowledge. Attempts to gate to the Mines will instead take you to PoK. |

But once you get to PoK you can always camp and you'll be given the option at the character select screen to "enter tutorial" rather than just entering the "world" where you camped. Only works up to a certain level though...then the button becomes greyed out - up to about lvl 11 or so. I did this at low level so I could upload a ui I wanted as well as for periodic runs to the bazaar looking for some newbie equipment to buy. Once I hit lvl 4 I went and bought the gate spell from the vendor in PoK for my necro and just gated from bazaar back to the mines without having to camp.
You can also gate back if you are bound there, or bank your gear and die if you can't gate. Sometimes you get booted to PoK, but many times you can still get back in.

There is a quest in the jail where you talk to one of the slaves and then in turn they wish to be escorted to Arias . I had the slave following me , it was an Iksar Slave , but then he was killed . I waited for him to respawn but then he only tells me that he doesnt weant to escape , so do all the other slaves . I was wondering if there is a trick to get the slave to follow me again . The slave is great to have although they are weak they do fight with you .
a lil late to reply (guessing your out of tut by now), but to get slaves to follow after they have been killed you must remove the task from your quest window.

I've deleted them now but some of my quests in the tutorial wouldn't "complete" meaning when I went back to talk to whatever NPC I was supposed to I'd get a message saying in essence they didn't have anything for someone with my abilities. Therefore, the quest couldn't be technically completed & disappear off my list even though as far as the action required I'd completed it. Could I have lvl'd up too fast so to speak & by the time I went back, what the NPC had to offer was of no value? I worked some with a small group & a higher lvl player a few times. I'm currently a 10 PAL, soon to be an 11. Also I can't get the New Beginnings quest to go away. Arias says tell his wife he is still alive. I did nothing happened. I hail her & the quest still doesn't disappear. Any thoughts? Also where can I find Whisperdell Targon in Greater Faydark to give him the bottle of wine I was given by V'Lynn Renloe from PoK?
Am I just missing the boat or aren't there a whole bunch more quests than what is listed here? This just looks like the quests for the slave revolt area.

There is a red con mob that doesnt respond to hails, a trampled slave. Anyone got a clue what they for? Have tried healing them, giving them food, they just lay there and play dead.....

I Just noticed it last night and had to have some fun. Going to send a bug report tonight when I get home and log on. (Sony already fixed the last bug I found in this zone - being able to get your baking up to lvl 15 at no cost or problem). ANyway, if you create a new chara and bind that chara at the soul binder... if you die (and have never bound anywhere else) you will reappear in that zone. It's not a big deal because there really isn't anything there - but you can "whow" the crowd there by soloing the big named mobs... needless to say, I want annon and they ppl in the zone just saw I was red to them. Little did they know I was lvl 28. <- First time I died since I created a Beserker. Guess Sony needs to do a auto rebind to PoK for those that are above lvl 10. I REALIZE now why at lvl 2 I saw a lvl 17 player in there. I was wondering how he did it.

Are the gloom armor item drops random on kobolds? ie) grunts, wardens, warriors?

Can someone help me here. I go into the tutitorial zone and can't see anything all I can see is the npcs and toons running around on nothingness. I can't see the walls or floors or even the water. I asked the Live chat for help and they told me it's an ingame problem to put a help ticket in. I did that all they told me was to adjust my settings and update my driver. So I did that and still nothing. The tutitorial is the only zone that's messed up. Does anyone know how to fix it? thanks for whatever help you can give.
P.S sorry for the mispells. Spelling is not my strong suit :(

if that is not the only zone, it is graphics and memory. I had that problem with not only the tutorial, but any zone that was "enhanced" by Darkhollow. snowblind except for mobs and torches. new videocard, new memory chip, and i'm rocking
This happened to me and i reset my computer repatch and so-on and entered tutorila and it worked fine

the best way to reset your patch is when you are first clicking on your EQ icon on your desktop make sure your Auto log in is not checked the patcher runs dont push start, go to advanced and do a complete file check that should take care of you... good luck and happy hunting

He can be soloed but it is not too easy at that level lol unless u have temp on ect then gate back to gloomingdeep the other mobs will weaken you, i have found a fun little trick i like to use on him with my 8 pally though i just blind half of the mobs in thier and say out loud trian moving through jail take cover and run to the guards by the watter and go back in after they are taken care of after that there is his 2 guards and the guy himself and i kill em easy btw sporali defenders blade is pretty nice at that level
He's not ment to be soloed...he, along with most other 'boss' type mobs in the zone, need a group. Although, it's possible to solo them, but just saying.

My lvl 12 CLR is still at Glooming Deep and trying to find out which quests are related with his 2 backpack full lore and no drop items...
The official websites give insufficient information..

Can you get this on a character that is already over level 5? I have a couple Alts that are around that and can't seem to get the charm.

Did you trying talking to the Vah shir Armor quest NPC? She is the one that gives it to you then you talk to everyone to boost its stats.

this new mines of glooming deep is awsome the quests are cool and the mobs have a whole cool new look just because of this zone im gonna make new characters just becasue

On the test server, this zone was completely revamped. They remodled the entire map, updated the creature graphics, and added way more quests. I haven't tried it on Live, so when I get home from work today, I will try it and send an update on it.

once you leave this zone how do you get back in it?

You have to make sure the tutorial key is selected on the charachter login screen when you log in, but after level 6 you can no longer log into this zone.

you can do it 2 lvl 10 or cast gate and poof back their if its were u r bound
