ABYSMAL SEA: This large ship acts as a gateway in to the continent of Taelosia, the land of Discord. Many vendors, quests, and tradeskills go through this zone.

This ship leaves a lot to be desired for navigation. If you can't make use of the 'Find' command, you would be advised to go elsewhere to get what you need.

Actually, very easy zone to navigate, just obviously not by map. The right boat is banking, TS, so forth, the left boat you can find spell merchants in the bottom of it.

Use Fine, it's easy to get around.

Best way there is via the Magus, which everyone should have their Adventurer's Stone anyways.

This is THE most retarded zone in the game. It's impossible to find anything here if you haven't already spent a ludicrous amount of time IN this zone, which is pointless since it's not an XP zone. The FIND command responds to every query with "Mysterious forces prevent you from finding... <blah><blah><Blah>". It's NOT "mysterious forces".... it's incompetent designers!

I'd never step one foot into this zone if there was ANYWHERE else in the game, no matter HOW FAR AWAY and HOW HARD TO GET TO, no matter how many times my toon would die in the attempt, to access the items in question.

Yes, I'm aggravated over how much time I've had to waste in this hell-hole of a zone to buy a spell! ;)

Considering the fact that a person needs an adventurer's stone to get here how can this be a 1-70 zone when you need to be at least 15 to get an adventurer's stone.
Maybe when the boats were working it could be a 1-70 zone but not any more, seems like someone needs to do an update on this and what is here. Yes I know it is considered a city zone and I do most of my beginning tradeskills here. So if this is a 1-70, city, zone how come no one can use this as their home city?

Sheyel is correct. You can get to Nederia's landing through Jaggedpine forest, and the Magus there will port you to Abysmal Sea without requiring an adventure stone.

I notice this page says levels 1-70, but when I look at the mob list the lowest npc is 40-40, are any of these mobs KOS to any race or class. Main thing can I bring my 20 lev to this zone without getting whacked, to buy chainmail patterns and such?

The reason it says lev 1-70, is that there are NO mobs. There are NPCs..this is the same as a city zone. You do trade skills, buy/sell, and mostly simple quest.

This isn't a game. Its a website about the game. EverQuest is NOT webpage-based. See a computer games shop to buy.. I'd suggest waiting til Everquest Titanium is out. Warning, though, EQ is pricy with its regularly increasing monthly fees. Still, for those of us who play it, we find it worthwhile.

I started in the Guild Lobby, though you can start at any Wayfarer's camp.
I found Magus Alaria
/say Nedaria
....Loading please wait...
You have entered Nedaria's Landing
Now find Magus Wenld
at location pos 1018 pos 1527
/say Abysmal Sea
.....Loading please wait...
You have entered The Abysmal Sea.

No keys, coins, flags. You do, however, have to purchase the expansion.

Let me start by saying that I know much of this information is incorrect, I just wanted to put down something to show that I have looked around for this info before making this post.

So far, I have figured out that you need to get to the 'book' type thing (like for PoK) in the bear cave in Surefall, which I've found, and there is supposed to be one in the bottom of Black Burrow. I've tried to 'click in' but wasn't able to. I read somewhere something about a coin... don't know what that's about though.

I read that you get to abysmal sea on a boat from Natimbi (or however you spell it) which seems weird cause it's a higher lvl zone and abysmal sea seems like a zone for all levels.

You get to Natimbi from Nedaria's Landing and you get there by hailing someone and saying Nedaria or something... (I know that is wrong but it was something like that.)

That's all I could find out. If anyone knows anything it would be appreciated.

I recommend Eq Mapfiend part of EQtoolboxfor cartogrophy maps, follow the directions on the site, if you already started your own cart map it will be replaced by the one you download.

You might also want to try EQ Zoneviewer which lets you explore EQ zones offline in first person mode (no mobs)It uses the sony data files that EQ uses to build the zones, but lets you explore it offline. Definitely recomended for rogues that want to get their epic peice in hate but have never been there before. A walkthrough is an imense help.

As a druid I zoned into Abysmal to try to find the supposed new OoW port to Barindu. I tried to use Find to locate Verna Leinar, the teleports spell vendor. She does not show on Tracking, no matter where I am on the boat, and the Find function will not work: I get a message saying something like "Mystical forces prevent you from finding..."

Is this a post-OoW patch bug or is this another annoying Sony "feature, working as intended" ?
RE: Find not working?
# Aug 25 2005 at 9:45 AM Rating: Decent
The Port Spells in Absymal Sea can be found with find feature under Transportation Spells.
For Those new to Absymal sea, I would suggest also mark the Magus on your map. Just down the stairs is Gizzu the Wise, I would Mark her also. If you are a non gater...will help in getting back to magus. AS, is a very big zone.

McDonalds Managers are a piece of cake for a 26th bard. They are high greens (still give a little xp) and don't aggro. In fact if you pull one the McDonalds staff around seem to join in on your side.
These guys spawn pretty quickly (6mins) and are good xp for your low 20's after you've finished hunting the regular staff.
They don't drop much in the way of cash (few gold) and their drops are pretty worthless at the lvl you would be hunting them. So far I've got Potato Chips (sometimes 2 or three at a time), a Spatula of Frying (Uncommon 1HB 2/30 MAGIC) and Pen of Indecision (Rare -4Int fits in Ranged) and an Apron of Lard (Common Chest armour All/All AC4 -25Chr) and an Employee of the Month Certificate (Very Rare +5Chr Effect: Blinding Flash, also fits in ranged - quite nice too). All these items are Magic, Lore and No Drop so I'm guessing that they are for a quest. Theres a few guys over at Burger King that I've heard are Quest NPC, I might try hailing a few and seeing what they have to say.
I'll keep you posted.

Find Magus Pellen in the upper section of the boat (location is neg149, pos58, pos142), he will transport you back to Nedaria's Landing -- have to use the Magus there to get to Abysmal boat as well (no gnome teleporters for GoD, I guess).

I tried 3 times but the boat slid out from under me leaving me still sitting in midair (and I was not floating). As soon as I stood up and moved, plunk, right into the water. I tried everything to get the boat to take me including hailing the boat and saying things like "travel to abysmal sea". The fourth time it took me. I checked out the zone and did what I was there to do only to find that now I can't leave for the same reasons. I'll try again tonight and maybe I can get some druid or mage to do a Shadowknight a favor and port me out.

Any tips about what I might be missing, or if it's just plain bugged, would be great. Thanks

The easiest way to get into teh GoD zones is to use the Magus in Nedaria's Landing. If you hail him one of the options for travel is Natimbi. Say "natimbi" and you're there. Simple as that.

Does anyone have an idea as to when the spell vendors are supposed to be up? Would be nice to get at least one spell. I got a level 54 druid spell to drop off a minor named in Natimbi. It was droppable and looked like a regular spell scroll. I have read that some of the spells look like runes and are no drop. Like the one guy said, time will tell, hehe.

My understanding is the spell vendors were only up for the convenience of the beta testers and will not be making an appearance in the live version.

Rumor has it the new spells are quested or dropped only.

I havent seen "SMith ROndo" up in Ferubi yet, maybe he spawns after a boss dies or something?

One more thing I am trying to figure out is the manacle key's.. we got 2 different ones off named in Riwwi, plus found one on ground spawn in barindu, they identify as 2nd , 3rd, and 8th manacle keys. would love loc of more keys or mobs and perhaps a quest giver, since they will be bank space till i figure it out.

EQ Traders has a nice writeup on the various quest givers, but basically there are 2 NPC's for various tradeskills that ask you to create 4 sets of no drop items. One will give you the ingredients for free and ask you to make sets of 100 items a stack at a time and the other will ask for 4 sets of 30 each with dropped ingredients the NPC needs to "process" for you.

With 150+ skill I was able to pretty much do all of them with 6 stacks of items, given a failure or two on each stack.

After you do them, you will be flagged to process the various ingredients on your own altho you are still able to ask the NPCs to process them if you're only making one or two of the new items.

With the new UI they go very quickly, and I did all but smithing and brewing "free" versions one afternoon. Twas a nice way to work up JC to 54 for free, which is where the final set trivials.

p.s. the annoying one was pottery, where in one or two of the items you had to use two of the items on the wheel and then go to the kiln to make the final item. If you fail the wheel combine, you'd end up with extra firing ingredients. I had to destroy the extras before the NPC would give me another stack of ingredients.

Have a look in your Everquest Folder - it should have downloaded A PDF File for the Manual. You will need ADobe Acrobat Reader to view this - you prolly have this software already but if not it is free from adobe.com

I looked at that file. It's not a pdf file... it's a PoS file (and I don't mean Plane of Storms)

Does anyone know anything about doing the 'expeditions'. These are supposed to be the instanced zones. I don't have a clue as to where these strt or what the citeria is to enter there. Any information would be appreciated.

Those that know are not saying because they want their guild to be first into them. Rumors say there is a quest or quests that need to be completed before entry and from i understand these are most likely raid zones, wee'll see.

Ive been in one GoD instanced zone so far - so all I can say is from that experience. Was a single group of all 65's (well i think 5 65's and 1 64). We found an NPC in Barindu who gave out the instanced zones. We hadnt done any quests before hand, and he offered us 4 different ones to choose from (the sewers). I dont recall his name (starts with a G i believe).

If you zone in from Qinimi, and invis through the entry area into the courtyard area, he will be on the far right wall next to the temple. Be very careful tho. There are so many wanderers in the courtyard, most dont see through invis, but a few will, so be on your toes. Theres a little area that runs behind the temple that mobs didnt seem to normally path through. Once we got the expedition, its marked on your compass just like LDON dungeon entrances. Our dungeon entrance was inside the temple (which was of course filled with mobs - but we were able to invis up to the entrance). I dont know if there are multiple dungeon entrances tho.

The mobs inside were very tough, some hitting up to 1200 and many cant be snared. We had a few deaths along the way, then had a wipe out later. Once we had a wipe out, it ejected all of our corpses, and Im assuming our "instance" was done. Theres no visible timer on it, but I believe once everyone leaves, so does the instance and Im assuming if you want to go back, you have to go back to the NPC to get another.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

You get off the boat the same way you get on, walk off when you get to your destination. Or jump off and swim.

Crab traps

As you get off the boat and up the ramp, one of the first NPCs you meet asks you to check some traps in the water saying you can keep what you find if you can pry them open.
It's a long way down to the bottom, about 400 ft, but i found a couple crab traps. They just look like a box.
It is targettable, but attack and bash have no effect. and i can't pick it up.
Suppose a rugue is required? or a special tool?

Found just 3 as well. I think that is it bc I did a search of pretty much the entire bottom.

Target 'a crab trap' and type /open. Then you can right click the box to loot as normal. All I got in the two I looted were some crabs, although one was a nice 11 pounder (counts as a feast).

There's a large room on the boat that has an NPC for each class. These NPCs give out the armor quests for GoD. However, as of last night the paladin quest giver seemed to be broken, as he just kept on asking if you were a paladin, no matter what you said or how you greeted him.

Will be interesting seeing the types of armor these quests produce.

Abysmal sea quest zone

Lots of tradeskill vendors with new items on
Spell merchants that werent actually there, supposedly 1 spell per class is buyable here

Also a quest guy(Fizben) who gives you an item and a sealer, he tells you to seek out 3 people who each have tasks for you in the zones and that when u complete them you can combine the items they give in the sealer for an item of increasing benefits.

quests i found are

Barindu - collect Talwins Journal 1 and 2 and give to Opory Toops

Ferubi - Give stone that u get given to Smith Rando in Ferubi

Tipt - Collect power cells and combine in item given(all called power cells, identify as a-e, looks to drop 1 each from crags, ghosts, muramites and a riddlemaster + something else)

Vxed - Collect 5 items and combine(Flickering Finkenheimer, tarnished sprocket, uncoiled springs, greased bolts, connection rods)

Sewers Collect 4 items and combine(timing gear, rusty spring, oiled bolt, processing gizmo)

Yxtta - find Xavaii Resnen and kill(shapeshifter in the form of another mob)

Kod'Taz - Find Kevren Nalovat and complete his 3 trials

I also found some other quests, 1 involved giving 4 sylvan branches to a guy, and 1 involved a delivery to a guy in JPF followed by some Potamie camping.

Nioti is the guy for the 4 branches of sylvan oak. Step 2 is getting a piece of a clay golem from a temple on the continent which I hope to have luck on getting tonight (no luck first night!).

Good post though.

there's a boat?
# Feb 11 2004 at 4:48 AM Rating: Default
Where does the boat start at? It looks like it spawns in the middle of the river in natambi, so I'm guessing it starts somewhere else first, like in Nedaria's Landing.

If it's in NL, do I go to the end of the far dock and wait for the boat? It's hard to see out that far when I play with clip plane real low (0%).

Thorn of the Seas boat docks at left dock in Nedaria's Landing. Not sure how often. There is a short pause once you zone into Abysmal Sea zone. Wait until boat docks to jump off.
