Dulak's Harbor lies in a vast cavern beneath the rocky island. The troll marauders have built their dark, rough town along the calm shores of the harbor. Using whatever they have at hand, the inhabitants are constantly rebuilding and adding to this city. An eerie feeling surrounds the city; a malevolent undercurrent beyond just the unpleasant nature of the creatures living there.

Most of the expected amenities are available here, if you're a member of Clan Broken Skull. Taverns, crew quarters, stores, docks, and shipyards fill the city. Rails can be seen in parts of the city, and following them one way could lead an adventurer to the refinery and the nearby smiths. Luggalds guard the temple, the most unusual and unpleasant building in town. Anyone foolish enough to get close to the temple is engulfed by the palpable fear and hate that seep from within.

Just thought i'd help some bards out here. This is the absolute best zone for a bard 35-50 no hands down. I went from 40-50 in one day here. I had FT8 and full Singing Steel Armor. FYI Singing Steel Armor is useless.

At any rate heres what i did.
- I started by manipulating pathing at the entrance. If you stay by the inside wall while chant kiting the mobs run back and forth in a straight line way out hit range. This gets you 35-40 easy few hours of constant chanting and you're set
-Once you have tuyens go absolutely nuts swarm kiting. You have to realize kiting is going to be charm, switch instruments and invis before you even notice your pets HP going down. At 45 I was swarming the entire refinery solo. The only Area in zone i had trouble with was the last boat due to casters.

The loot is good here and due to the fact that you are a bard you can sell and come back rapidly. Hope it helps some with bards 35-50 if anyone reads this anymore.

Providing you have the "Sneak" skill you can sell junk to the "Swabby Bait Dealer" who is on the left as you enter the building opposite the Pub/Bar. Make sure you go behind him and not too close to the entrance wall. Also if you have charisma of 105+ sell him a gem and buy it back to convert all of your gp/sp/cp into nice Platinum/Gems

I'm looking for information on the 52 necro Feign Death spell.. All of the items needed for this quest are found in the Luggold caves.. If ANYONE has info on this Reply ... I need to find out the Name of the guy i gotta turn this stuff into..
RE: Require some Info please
# Aug 25 2005 at 10:08 PM Rating: Default
Cedric Trallus is the guys name I believe. He is located in the Stonebrunt Mountains in a small camp along the beach. Give him the blood, saliva and bile looted from the luggald caves.
I just did this quest for my Necromancer and Shadow Knight. Your best bet for drops is to run to the end of the luggald tunnels to the last 2 rooms. It was pretty tough for my 56 Necromancer to solo efficiently and after getting 2 pieces to the quest I brought in my 63 Beastlord to mow through the mobs. Most mobs are dark blue to him and it was decent experience. Hope this helps, good luck.

There is a good post below by Jimmyjam which contain links to what I assume is his guild site. If you go there and click on the maps, your pc will become infected with a Trojan Virus of great magnitude. Its taken me about 45 mins. to clean all the trash out of mine.
Other than that, good info on Dulak.
Gunthak to Dulak's Harbor
# Jun 16 2004 at 5:10 PM Rating: Decent
Is there a quick way to get from the lighthouse in Gunthak to Dulak's Harbor or do you just have to run for it? Also, where does the new portal drop you in Gunthak?
RE: Gunthak to Dulak's Harbor
# Jun 25 2004 at 2:23 PM Rating: Decent
Kwyllon Geerlok, a merchant in the lighthouse, sells cloudy potions which can make you invisible for the run to Dulak or the Crypt of Nadox. Stay to the right when you hit the beach to avoid the undead MOBs there who will see through your invisibility. Training with SOW is kinda sloppy, discourtious to other players, and completely unnecessary because of Kwyllon.

Once in a while, you will come across a named in the tunnel. For this unfortunate and unlikely circumstance, carry two potions and stop to dispatch the see-invis MoB. THey usually drop better gear so taking care of them where you are standing is far superior to starting a train.

Portal is on evil side in PoK, on the side of the evil area that shows no portal on the map.

It drops yuo on the bow of the boat in gunthak, near where you port in from stonebrunt.
Gem drops nerfed?
# Jun 03 2004 at 2:33 PM Rating: Decent
Hello, I've spent a lot of time camping Stormwave for the charm the cap'n drops. When I started, I would get at least 2 or 3 diamonds or blue diamonds an hour. After one of the patches in late May however, I have seen only 1 diamond after many more hours on Stormwave. When bored, I also roam the docks killing fishermen and boat scrubbers to try to spawn Vurag, and those mobs drop Sapphires and other lower gems at a decent rate.

Does anyone know if it is just Stormwave crew that got gem drops nerfed? Is Dulak not the place to farm BD anymore?

I used to camp Lady D when Ykesha first came around and within a month or so there was a patch that nerfed the gem drops. It was a rather big disappointment since that was half the reason to go exp there (the exp is not spectacular , but the loot drops made it worthwhile)

This happens with almost all new zones. The dev's want to have good word of mouth about the expansion, so they have a high drop rate when they are released (gets more folks to buy it). Then, they need to worry about balancing the game and the economy.
Black medalion
# Apr 29 2004 at 11:48 AM Rating: Decent
For you pallys. I soloed the docks (the dock that you first come to if you hug the right zone wall, not the dock to boat one. the one before that:-)) for about five hours to get my black medalion. Mine droped from a boat engineer. a friend got his after the same amount of time from a fisherman. I camped boat one for 3AA's before my friend told me where it droped. I did see it drop one other time on boat one.... and two more times where mine droped.

This is a must quest for pallys. at 52 I could solo here. The second half of the quest is much harder. 52 pally 52 ranger and 50 druid had problems getting chester to spawn and turn in. the mobs have complete heals, and there are at least 2 wanderers... but it is must have spell for me. Great zone!
EXP and loot

Same exp as Velks, however...
1. everything isnt white.
2. They drop good gems and many items.
3. less hp and dps on mobs.
4. floor isnt slippery.
5. multiple areas to camp...5 boats..caves..yard..buildings
6. lots of quests ( however bad they may be ) still gives you something to do :)

To get to the Ykesha zones you need to get to Stonebrunt Mountains, which can be reached by either from running through the warrens, or by getting a port from a lvl 29 or higher druid or wizard. Once you are in Stonebrunt Mountains, the zone in to the Gulf of Gunthak (and from there access to the other Ykesha zones) is by clicking on the door of the ship moored up by the dock at approx. location -4200, -1500 (marked number 4 on the eqatlas map).

I have found a couple of 'A Black Medallion' items while camping the stormwave. It's Not lore, but is No Drop.

I have searched for reference of this item in quests and equipment, but no luck. I am sure it's a quest releated item, but not sure where. Since it's not lore, the quest may involve a few of these items.

Anyone know what it's for?

Need to Know First

Dulak's Harbor is in LoY expansion and after the Gunthak zone. Please print this map up at www.eqatlas.com/ykesha/dulakmap.html
www.eqatlas.com/ykesha/du...esmap.html

Also, please, please please....everyone download all of the maps and copy them into your EQ folder if you have the LoY expansion mapping feature......this will load all maps to almost every zone in the game...do it..... www.eqatlas.com/cartography.html

Finally, read this post on Dulak. It is requied if you want to use my guide. I will not repeat anything in this thread unless I want to point out something and give insight. READ THIS forum.magecompendium.com/...369dd0646f

Why Hunt Here

XP: This zone gives very good xp, especially two boxing and groups of 3 or less. Why? Because it is non stop action with the ability to get xp from low 40s to mid 50s. Finally, the single best part of this zone is single pulling.....even MOBs on top of each other can be singled pulled (except hardest ship, Windscorn).

Loot: Lots of pp can be made here with some cool drops. Each MOB has 4-9 pp on it and 1 in 4 has a 4-6 pp weapon. Since you can mow through them, this is a lot of pp. Also, 1 in 10 drops a gemstone that sell from 80-198 pp. Hint...save the blue diamonds and sell in the Bazaar for a lot more. Secret.....a few patches ago they had all Iksars in zone be able to drop Iksar blood which is used in high level tradeskills. 1 in 4 drop the blood but most Iksars are only found on the Windscorn and its dock. I got 5 bloods and sold for 999pp in bazaar (selling ranges from 500-1000, I just wait it out to get max). In all I made 6k in one hour, my best ever.

Charms: Yup, they drop here and can be quested here. You more than likely have an empty spot for the charm so why not fill it? Most are pretty bad, but heh, you still need to fill that slot. Best bet is to quest it or work Oceancrasher as all deckhands can drop a Dewdrop one. Check this link out for great Charm insight forums.shadowknight.org/s...ht=charms.

LoY Quest Spells: This zone has a lot of drops for almost all classes. These spells are worthwhile and everyone shouts when an item for a spell quest is rotting. Damn, you could be level 20 with camo or invis and get your spells from shouts alone. If you do not know your classes spells from here, you are doing your character and the Guild a disservice. Know them and get them. Check out this link on them everquest.allakhazam.com/...l?zone=180

Who Should Hunt Here

Classes: Soloers. Druids can easily do it here. Shammies and Necros next with little problem. And Mages sort of can. A hybrid melee with snare can solo or duo and Clerics (as always) are always in demand. No undead here. High hps and few casters (except Windscorn) so slow is best of all followed by haste....Shammies rule here. Finally, Enchanters could make a fortune selling mind crack here, I'd be here in a heartbeat if I owned one making a ton of cake and xp.

Groups: Solo if you can and if not, two-box with Shammy then next would be a Cleric. Need to be high 40s to 50s to do this. Two boxing here with single pulls is easy and xp is fast and furious. If not, get a group of 3 but no more unless you take out Windscorn then a full group is needed. Groups are somewhat hard to find here so bring ones along or be able to solo whilst looking for a group. If in mid 40s, get a full group of 6 and take a boat.....good xp and learning of group dynamics in general.

Where to Hunt

Zoneline: Hunt here to get practice or if you are in your low 40s. Just do it a few times.....learn to single pull. Normal loot dropped

The Town and Houses: Not really worth it. Invis or camo up to get elsewhere in zone so you can fight where you want to. I would stay away from the normal town and houses.

Armory: Great place to practice single pulling. A name pops here with good stuff. Camped 1/2 the time. I have done this camp many times.

Shady Wharehouses: The Druid quest spell drops here which is highly sought and camped a lot. Also, some nice drops occur along with good xp. Do one of these and see.

Shipyard: This area is underutilized. When waiting for a boat to open up, hunt here. Some unique quest items drop only here and the xp is good. Warning.....do not fight near Armory wall as they will agro from inside and do not go near Windscorn docks as two Deckhands are there and you will get yer *** Harmtouched is you get to close.

Tavern: Not sure about this one as I only did it once but a name pops along with some drops. Camped a lot so must be good, check it out.

Caves: No pp drop so less loot. Tough MOBs but certain spell quest items can only be found in here (Shadowknight) and a great quest needs Luggald parts from here everquest.allakhazam.com/...quest=2394 (good alternative quest also available). But, this is where the Soulstripper drops...I own 3 of them now. Very good weapon and easy to kill him if you have your resists up. Here are details on the weapon everquest.allakhazam.com/...tem=19349. I would not hunt in this area at all unless for the quest drops or camping the Soulstripper. A 57 Rogue, 52 Shammy and I cleared the whole cave on a dungeon crawl......the deeper parts no different so not worth it.

Boats: Do it, do it, do it....just do it. It goes from easiest to hardest. A boat is scary to first camp but you need to do it....after one time you will see how easy it is (except the hardest, Windscorn). My leve1 41 Ranger two boxing with my 52 Shammy could keep the first two boats entirely clear.
-Storm is camped a lot due to the Captain pop that drops a great caster charm. My advice is to come here at lower level and get xp and camp this.
-Dando seems to offer the best xp to risk reward.
-Ocean has the Dewdrop charm that can fall off anyone.
-Windscorn is tough but I did do half the boat two boxing with my Shammy so it can be done. Multiple pulls at time though...I'd suggest pulling to the upper dock, clear the bridge and and move up there. Captain is an event Dawnfire missed by 3 minutes before it despawned, very rare.
-All Captains are random pops and I have never seen one other than Windscorn. I did read you need to clear the docks AND the ship so do this to spawn them.

Advice is to get a boat and keep it. Most are camped but there is hardly any waiting list. Call "Camp check" as soon as you zone and then ask someone who calls out if you can be next.

MOBs

In General:
MOBs undercon due to high hps. They double hit for 40-160 with 100-140 being typical......slow them, slow them, slow them...then they are meat. 70-80% of my Shammy's spells stuck first time. No one cast spells but in Caves and Windscorn boat.
Typical MOB:
eqbeastiary.allakhazam.co...l?id=11183

Boat MOBs
Best xp and only a little harder.
Typical Boat MOB:
eqbeastiary.allakhazam.co...l?id=11285
Ocean Boat MOB
eqbeastiary.allakhazam.co...l?id=11644
Windscorn Boat MOB:
eqbeastiary.allakhazam.co...l?id=11564

Cave MOBs
They hit somewhat hard but they have many spellcasters. Only hunt here if you are camping SOulstripper or quests as mentioned above.
Typical Cave MOB:
eqbeastiary.allakhazam.co...l?id=11919

Named Pops
These seem to ber pretty darn rare so expect to camp or wait awhile. I still have never had a Captain spawn in 14 years of fighting here (at least it felt like 14 years). The Windscorn Captain is an event that is really rare. He will send his minions out to kill everyone (including other MOBs) in the shipyard so beware.
Some of the Better Named
The Soulstripper camp. Read the thread on this one....you must have resist buffs up. He fears (as do others in the caves) and mean DOTs and DD. I took him down 3 times with a 57 Rogue, 52 Shammy and a 55 Shadowknight (me).....one time I had only lost 18% health with no heals (yup, we is a bad *** group). You can see the Soulstripper mace in his hands and he dropped it every time.

Quests

LoY expansion has a much greater emphasis on quests than in any other group of zones. The 2 new spells/songs (44th and 52nd level ones I think) are quest only. This is why so many peeps stay in this zone a long time and learn to love it quickly. Charms are are also questable. Here are the two links to all the quests but I will point out the best ones. Everyone is extremely nice in these zones shouting out no drop quest pieces rotting. You can also shout out for what you are looking for. Just make sure to have invis or camo up before going to get the rotting ones. Finally, almost all the quests give really good xp as an added bonus so if even crappy quest stuff comes your way, keep it to get xp.
everquest.allakhazam.com/...l?zone=180

Spells
There are a few must haves.....
Cleric Temperance...do it, no question. I have personally seen over 15 Deepwater emblems rot (needed for quest).

Druid Heal...very rare drops but always have Druids looking for it. Have heard of up to 1k pp looting rights for rotting ones.
everquest.allakhazam.com/...quest=2389

Easy Ones
Not necessarily good, but pretty easy....
Charm of the Brotherhood....collect 1 each of the medallions.....could be done in one full day
everquest.allakhazam.com/...quest=2403
Militia Seals everquest.allakhazam.com/...quest=2410

Do These Quests
Insignias....get 2 from each ship...10 total
everquest.allakhazam.com/...quest=2400
Other Insignias.....harder to get and need two from the cave section but you get an Emerald Warrior Charm.
everquest.allakhazam.com/...quest=2301
Xoomix.....hard one with somewhat crappy item, but good xp. Need to get metalic oil in Gulf around pirate fort
everquest.allakhazam.com/...quest=2301
Best One...Hard! Both an evil and good version. Two step one with second part in Nadox crypt (much harder part). Awesome ring if you are a spellcaster and pretty good weapon for melees. Read up on this one.
Evil version: everquest.allakhazam.com/...quest=2394

Great guide, Joks. This is another great, but sometimes underused zone.

It's sad many of these mobs are going light blue and green to me now. Many days this zone is underutilized so it's still great for easy farming. My partner and I walked away from a trip to the shipbuilder's yard with 4 blue diamonds, 2 regular diamonds, 6 sapphires, 2 star rubies and as many weapons as we had room for.

In the tunnels there was more exp. but less loot. We did get a Torn Cloth Eyepatch.

That's a good guide to be sure. The only thing I'd disagree with is the idea that the caves should be avoided. In addition to the soulstealer who drops Soulstripper, a number of other named luggalds spawn in different parts of the caves, and they drop some useful items. The deeper caves are still alright experience for me grouped at 57, all dark blue.

You left out the best soloing class from your list in my opinion. The Beastlord. My level 56 Beastlord can clear all 11 mobs on Lady Dirulia and even clear the entire dock before they respawn. I am always at full mana and full health when they do start repopping. And the only buffs I have are my own. My 55 Druid couldnt do that if he had every mind candy buff available to him at all times. I used to be gung-ho for the Druid class but the Beastlords leave them in the dust. And also, I melee the entire time with my pet. No Mage, Necro or Druid could even touch the rate at which I am able to gain AA exp.
RE: Dulak Hunting Guide

I can answer why the Dulak Tavern is often camped, there is a quest associated with it for the Shaman class they need to get from one of the NPC's in there an undamaged flask (no drop) which they then take to a spirit in a shipwreck between the Gunthak beach and the lighthouse. After the spirit then brings up two critters to fight and dispose up, the shaman is awarded the spell "Stoicism" which is a shammy variant to the clerical "Celestial Remedy" (450 HP over 3 ticks). Those wanting the spell need to get some underwater breathing so they can go swimming and seeking the spirit in the sinken ship to start the quest.

learn then speak,

Drunken pirate does not spawn in either tavern. he spawns in various buildings around the zone, but Have NEVER seen him spawn in either bar.

Named mobs pop in either bar, both drop nice mid lvl items for either int caster or shaman.

Maybe, just maybe thats why they are always camped? that and the NPC spacing/pathing is just enough to not give pullers too many adds on a pull?

This is a great hunting guide, I have been in Dulaks for a few levels now and can confirm most of whats in here, what I can't confirm I am going to check out because there are some great ideas. My question though goes back to the beginning of the post: copying the maps into your eq file. I will be the first to admit that I don't mess around with skins because I am worried about making my eq file buggy (I've had weird problems in the past) but this utility sounds worth the risk, can anyone explain this more or just elaborate a little? Guild went on a raid here on Friday night. A raid, you say? Yes, it was a bit of overkill once we got a boat (well, the second time.) First time, we either had Windscorn or Dando (think it was Wind, but I'm not sure) and we got the living crap beat out of us. There were 10 of us, ranging from my level (38) to a Monk (53).

After the rezes though (yeah, I went down 1st, 5 hits. hehe) we got Storm. Very right, a very easy camp. We easily kept it and the dock cleared. We sat right at the ramp to the dock. Found it a good spot to pull to.

Why were we there, you ask? Well, Temperance (not for me, we're comming back for mine.) hehe. Our guild is also kinda new, and we're still learning about raiding dynamics. It was more of a "lets all help" than a raid, but still very fun.

I would agree with the above post that it's a great zone. Exp was good, even with raid going. Loot was also awsom.

Keep up the great guide, bro. I personally rated your post an excellent.
Merchant in Dulak's

Just across from the Hungry Shark tavern is a warehouse full of fishermen and fish gutters. All of the mobs inside the warehouse were dblue to both my 53 monk and a 55 paladin. Just inside the door to this warehouse, on the left, is a swabby bait salesman. He is a merchant who sells fishing gear. If you can use sneak, you can sneak up behind him and sell to him.
Bard Chant/Charm kiting...

The zone line from Gunthak to Dulak's harbor is an excellent place for bards to kite. I usually went chant kiting here, but swarming is possible, you just have to be able to invis yourself fast enough before they clobber each other into dust. Trains aren't much to worry about; they're frequent, just not anything to worry about. Just switch to/continue chant kiting and they'll just fall in line.

Here's how it works for chant kiting there:
Run along the right hand wall at zone in, REMEMBER where the zone is, and grab up all the scouts ya want. Target yer first one and get to chantin'. Don't let selo's drop too long or you WILL be hurt badly (but we all know this by now). As you run around, cross the "tunnel" or "valley" or whatever you call it before you make it to the opening. HUG your new right wall and keep chanting until you make it almost to the zone line, then cross over again. If you cross too soon, the mobs'll make a bee-line right to you and BAM, yer hurtin'. If this happens, don't panic, just stay on the wall and act like nothing happened. Keep kiting. If you have to heal up, just make a /shout TRAIN to zone, and zone on over when you think it's cool.

Tadaaa!

ZEM in Dulak?
# Jun 15 2003 at 1:06 PM Rating: Decent
I skimmed the other posts but couldn't find anything.....

Does Dulak harbor have a ZEM? XP seems to fly by there. Just curious if it is due to the pace of kills or if there is an exp modifier.

Thanks
