BlackBurrow is the home of the Sabertooth Clan gnolls, a group not particularly fond of outside visitors. It connects to both the Everfrost Peaks and Qeynos Hills.

Be advised that the dense gnoll population combined with their habit of running deeper into the stronghold for help can make for some pretty impressive trains.

The spilt paw commander sometimes drops a leather whip. it does 5damage and its attack speed is 3. Not that great of a weapon

Hello, Kilaxin again.

there are 2 white gnolls: Splitpaw Commander and Splitpaw Refugee. these are to of the semi-bossmobs of the dungeon, Tranixx being the big cheese. They are difficult to solo until about 16, at which point the exp is not worth it anymore.

refugee drops the runed totem staff 9/37 magic, 2hb 5 mana 5 hitpoints.

commander drops the gnoll hide lariat, 3/20 procs stun at level 25+, horrible weapon unless your dueling casters.

hope this cleared some stuff up;

Tiger Paw ?

I went down to BB for the first the time with a group I usually hunt with at Everfrost. In one of the room I saw a white gnoll wearing some red stripes. I think the name came up as Tiger Paw when I target it. Does anyone have more info on this Tiger Paw?

Thanks

My experiences in BlackBurrow as a warrior:
# May 21 2001 at 11:11 PM Rating: Default
First off i'd like to say hello to everyone from Tholuxe Paells server! Secondly i woyuld like to state that from levels 7-15 i got completely in BB and 16,17,18 a little bitof exp. I am currently (5-21-2001) a level 40 warrior.

I started in halas, being barbarian, and fought in everfrost until level 7 when i went to blackburrow. My first experience kinda sucked; i fell through the floor in the tree and had to get a level 24 (at the time) DE rogue named Sihn and a level 30 (at the time) bard named Polyphony to help me get my corpse, through much full-zone begging. After this i was panicked, and, wielding my rusty sythe i proceeded to fight scrawny gnolls up top, but the main camp i had was what i shall call the scrawny ledge:

As you cross the bridge from the rest room you will see a little ledge at on the wall, with sometimes a scrawny there, i camped that gnoll day anjd night until i could fight gnolls, and patrolling gnolls. I fought these for a few levels, then at level 10 i started to take the ever powerful burly gnoll spawn, which was great exp.

After fighting in the burly spawn near the commander room i also found out about the burly spawn in the room just through the door that rattles as it goes up. after camping these for a bit i moved on to gaurdsmen, particularly the following to places:

the best place (expecially for casters, my necro camps here all the time) is the following: when you come to the spike pit or snake pit as it is called, look at the ramp up, then follow the ramp staying right on the right hand wall so as not to aggro the gaurdsmen. follow this until you go a little bit down a passage and come to a dead end, pull gaurds etc to here. no trains ever come through and there are 3 gaurds you can pull from the nieghboring rooms, plus the only possible add is the very rare patrolling gnoll that decides to come through sometimes.

The second spot is near clover and in a higher-risk area, but with 2 gaurds that spawn right there. this spawn has a door seperating the 2 gaurds and while it is closed one whould not aggro if you are careful when fighting. on the other side of the door is the second gaurd and a plank-bridge. this ledge is open to the water pit so if you get in trouble, jump/fall/fly off the ledge into the water, you taek no damage. then swim under the edge and come out near the bridge and rest room, and the gnolls are left far far behind while you run to zone =)

at level 12+ you can camp clover and green, this is the best exp in the dungeon. here are the spawns:

green room: 5 spawns, will always be Elite gaurds, Commanders, splitpaw commanders splitpaw refugees and occasionally mannon of the sabertooths. since the spawn is entirely random anything can pop, i once broke a room with 3 SP commanders, for instance. this is usually the best exp in the zone.

Clover: 5 spawns. one is gaurenteed a gaurdsmen, the other w (one is eah room) is gaurenteed a commander, splitpaw commander, or splitpaw refugee. in both of these rooms an elites gnoll gaurd always spawns.

after level 16 it is pretty much pointless to stay here, go to HPH for better loot and exp, but until then BB is a damn fine dungeon.

NOTE::: standing on the green room/clover room spawns (i.e. in the green room) will dramatically reduce the spawn time of the gnolls, the regular spawn time i THINK (not sure) is about 16 minutes, i could be wrong on that bit though.

well, i hope you read it all, thanks for reading and i hope it is helpful.

Am in the minority when i say that i can't hardly see a thing there? My character is a lev 12 human monk and even with a greater lightstone
i can't see my way around and end up falling off a ledge or running of a bridge. i spend most of my time in BB swiming around trying to find my way back to the top. I see other humans running around having a great time while i'm walking so i don't walk off another bridge or fall off a ledge again. I also tried the gamma correction thing and i can't tell a difference. Am i alone?
RE: BB brown out
# Dec 05 2001 at 4:03 AM Rating: Good
I second the gamma correction advice. Though I have not turned my gamma up much and carry a GLS visibility is certainly enough not to warrant falling off a ledge, bridge, or any thing else by walking or running. Though I have manage to run myself into the water erratically trying to swat a fleeing gnoll.

I was recently very frustrated in my progression through 10th level with my ranger. I kept getting 4 full bubs and then running into a bigger train than I wanted to deal with...stunned and dead stinks.

I found that if you walk straight out from the QH zone lobby until you are teetering on the cliff edge then look down, you can usually see a Gnoll Guardsman that conned blue or even to my ranger. I could usually get him with my bow or with a Flame Lick; either got his attention and he came running. Waiting around let me build up mana, when he arrived I could Snare him and beat him down. He usually came alone or with a train of scrawnys, so the low level characters hanging out in the lobby were pretty happy with easy pickings coming up for them.

This got me that last bub and a nice chunk of change.

Personally, my view of kill stealing is that if you haven't started hitting it yet, and I can pull it off you in one normal hit (none of this ubertwinked level 11 rogue doing 40 points of non-backstabbing damage BS, or 70 point spell) then it wasn't yours, it was a victim of circumstance.

My char is a level 10 human druid as of 4/5/01. I have discovered the joy that is bb. When you were born reared and raised in Sonyeq (Qeynos backwards, interesting, huh?) its easy to hunt here. I have traveled to WC on foot but I have always come home to Qeynos. With that being said, i have a few strategies for you. First of all, the Green room. It is usually filled with gnolls, about 8 and a refugee splitpaw, elite gnoll guardsman, or splitpaw commander. The splitpaws or elites usually dont attack you if you take on the Green room, but if you are level 10+, they will be all over you like white on rice. Secondly "The bridge", a common meeting point. Dont get too confused, when someone says "meet at the bridge", they mean the bridge you first come to when you get to bb, down the ramp. next, you have ledges, common camping zones. its only polite to check for others camps before you yourself hunt there. please be courteous in bb.

Well this is my exp in bb. I wanted to make a second char., a necro, and the best race for that is the erudins. At lest in my opinion. So anyways haveing a few chars born and rasied in Qeynos i think of that as home and im not happy anywhere else, pluse i can twinkle my new char. there =0). So i made an eruin necro made my way to eruind, surprised, i wasent Kosed there. so i took the bout to qeynos, i was kos there so i took the sewers to the secret outside gate in N Qeynos. Ofcoures i got a bind . Then i lvled up to lvl 4 and i got some new spells, in the sewers theres a necro guild Duh, and i procieded to head to BB. I did everything from loot corpses i didnt kill to get fangs to group to kill gnolls for faction as it was my intention to get facton to get into Qeynos. But listen up and this is the important part if u ever need faction by killing gnolls just go around and use ur spells to help out some1 already trying to kill gnolls. cast a heal spell or a dot spell or dd or a buff spell u wont get exp but u will get faction when he finishes off the gnoll. In 2 lvls up i was aloud in Qeynos and i had like 25 fangs to trade in. It was like an easy lvl up and then some.

I'm a 41 druid and was running to Perma and went thru BB. I thought i'd go create some mayhem from my old days as a newbie. I go to the Commander room (right near snake pit through a very narrow passage where the elites, high shammie and SP comm spawn) and see item #1

Socho Darkpaw: Weaker than the comms. dropped nothing but an unruined gnoll pelt and a star rose quartz.

Item 2

Lord Elgnub: Used in the gnoll slayer quest. Where does he spwan and how?

Ok, not sure if this is an Exploitation or not, but it is cool. When you are in the big snake room (Not the ledge above the water, nor the Spike Pit, the big round room) there is a pillar that forms the central obstacle. on one side of the pillar, 2 snakes spawn, on the other, a snake, a gnoll and the ramp up to other nasties. On the 2 snake side, there is a little niche or crevice in the wall up against the central pillar. You can jump in there to get out of most any train or tiht spot that comes... the gnolls just hang out by the spot and wait, unable to touch you or anything else. You cannot cast on them but you CAN med, heal or Gate.
ONLY ONE EXCEPTION: Patrolling Gnolls... for some reason they can get you while you are there. You can kill them as normal, but in my experience, when you need the hole the most arethe times when a single Patrolling Gnoll is all it takes to bring ya down.

Sadly enough my BlackBurrow days are over, It was nice while it lasted through my 8 charcters =). So heres what i learned from 5 different troll warriors and counless re-makes.

Newbies, Great dungeos to learn what a train is and yafda yadda yadda.

SPOILER. you want exp and fast heres what ya do lvl 4. Outside blackburrow there are 2 gnoll spawncs besinds the "head" and there are 2 more spawns with 3 each of watchers close by kill thsoe till 5 or 6. At 6 get a friend and go intto BB, Kill all the gnolls up top and everything neart ehm, pups, scrawenis, and gnolls STAY NEAR THE ZONE. keep doin this till 8 ** new spells** at 8 go to Skane Ledge. heres how ya get ther. Go thru the door at the top level and down to the safe spot. Go across the land bridge that is to your right and down the ramp. Follow the wall left until you scross some shallow water and hop in the pool, youll see underwater theres a little tunnle go under and up a 2 second swim. Up a ladder whcih is waiting and Vwee laaa snake ledge great place snakes are lvl 7 to 10 or so. at 10 leave the snake ledge and travel to elite ledge. In 4 levels you should know where it is but in case. When you enter door at top go straight downa dn straight across water bridge, then up the ramp and theres a duel elite spawn. get ranger to harmony and pull one down to the little island. then changre the 2nd one if good on hp/mana. keep the spawn broken and loot up, 4pp max ooots and brozne and leather. hun theese till ide say 14 to 6 between there. Then head to the elite rom which when you enter the snake ledge go up the ramps and thru the door to the snake pit, go left while in pit and look around there theres a small path which leads to Commander room/elite room. Elite room is 4 or 5 elites and 1 commander. do theese till 18 max then leave the wretched zone. Also dont go in the tree and if theres a train invis befor eit hits ya, or in snake pit theres a peice of ground right above the ladder then it goes to wood looks like Ladder

try having a few buddies camp in the snake pit. its easy to get to and you are able to pull gnolls and gnoll guards down into the waiting arms of your friends. the only thing that spawns there are giant snakes adn their teeth make great piercing weps and sell for a prety good amount.

sense you dont have to worry about a big ol elite spawning right next to you your casters are able to meditate in peace. Just make sure you have a group of three or more if your under level 8. you tend to pull three at a time.

Hail all,

I was resently doing my daily adventuring to bb. I was on derailment near the entrance when all of a sudden Mannan of Sabertooth came we all attacked him and let me tell you he hit really hard compared to commanders and elites. we had him to near death when a large amout of his budies came and he fleed. (and we did too) i am unaware of anyone who killed him noone said they had does anyone know who or what he is and what he drops?
RE: A new Gnoll?

I fought the mannan the other day in a group of 4 melee classes levels 10 - 16, an enchanter, and a cleric and we killed him in less than 2 minutes. It has been the only time i've seen him, though.
RE: A new Gnoll?
# Feb 27 2001 at 2:34 PM Rating: Decent
Mannan is not a new gnoll. I have killed him several times. He Spawns in the elite room most times. He is a Warrior Gnoll of the 15th season of adventurer slaying (and eating). He was pretty tough when I was solo-ing him, but that was with a 14th warrior with an awful STR and STA.
RE: A new Gnoll?
# Jan 14 2001 at 11:32 PM Rating: Default
i had the same experience with Mannan in BlackBurrow, on Drinal server. Apparently he is a very rare spawn, we had killed the Refugee Splitpaw caster immediately prior to his spawn,
with a group of 5 lvl12 to 14 rangers and warriors we were unable to kill Mannan as when we beat him down to near death a swarm of Elite Gurds appeared and it was TRAIN TO ZONE with us in front of it fighting and running for our lives.

I have spent probably in excess of 200 on line hours in BB and have seen Mannan spawn only once, and heard of him spawning one other time. I sure do want to know what he drops, but i will tell you this, he is one tough cookie to kill, he he
but i will have his hide one day!

Actually, give them to him 1 at a time, he does not count too well and may short change you on them if you use multiples. I had a pc give him over 40 in one level, 75% of the ep is the first half and 75% of the money is the second. The new "rude person" may attack you, not dangerous, but i do not know what is the faction hit or what aid he gets if you whack him. Hauster.

So when BB is overcrowded, which is often is on the Karana server anyway, do the typical rules of KSing still apply? What I mean by this is well, let me give an example. I am a level 8 ranger and I was hanging around up top killing the scrawnys and such, I shot on in the butt with an arrow and pulled a total of three scrawnys on me. Which I didn't mind, I could handle them, and planned to do just that. Well two good natured? folks "helped" me out by killing the other two before i got the first one down. I didn't ask for help. But because I hadn't actually engaged the other two yet, does this constitute KSing?

I have to put my 2cp in now. I look at it this way....I am a lvl 5 ranger on Rallos Zek. While it is a PvP server, I don't necessarily engage in PvP activity. If I see another PC getting whomped on, I will immediately cast a heal spell on him, as well as any other buffs that I happen to have available at the time. I don't necessarily attack the other characters, but I will if needed. If they then offer some of the loot, I will usually decline. I get more practice with spellcasting, they get the loot.

Stealing. I am a level 11 Ranger & I have been guilty of a fareshare of stealing I ad mit it!!! But now that i am a little stronger I leave the scrawnies to the low level newbies. If you are a higher level char or even looking to help someone out wait till they ask. Or better yet take a look at thier health & compare it to what they are fightin. I personally just use minor heal or snare when a newbie is in trouble. Face it it helps your channeling & dose not steal the kill from another low level char that has more to gain from killin a scrawnie than you do. As for trains If there is a big one I feel that it is a free for all! Just remember the guy who brought them up & take care of him !!!!!!

Kill Stealing is the bain of Black Burrow! In my Nebie days I was probably guilty of HELPING too many people more out of ignorance or excitment than anything else. During Train derailments it is tough to know when to engage and I think most people just jump right in.

The fact is that for the most part it is important to read the relative health of the parties engaged and when in doubt ask if a PC need help. I have never had a problem with a PC not letting me know if help is needed or not. This makes the game go a lot better. I can not tell you how many times I have lost a Gnoll Brewer or a Commander in the the Commander room to another player! This hurts the game.

let me get this straight, you were lvl 8 and 3 gnolls on you at once(mini train) and you thought you were going to take them all out?

You better thank your lucky stars they peeled some off you, 3 gnolls at once on even a warrior twink in full banded at lvl 8 is bad news hero, they would have aggro'd you down to the ground.

i have seen hi lvl players come to BB and think they could stand and beat down a train of Gnoll guards and a few Elites and next thing you know Mr. Lvl 20 bad boy is seeing "LOADING PLEASE WAIT" on his screen.

Make friends with those that saved your butt and offer to group with them, it is safer and you can all help each other, BB is a VERY bad place to solo, but by the time you read this i imagine you will have found that out on your own after you have been "trained" a few times.

sheesh ! Kill Stealing?
they stole a kill from the gnolls by saving your behind, thats the only kill steal i see goin on!

i once had a set up where i killed ALL but three of the spawns on the top floor, and in the hallway, i had to often take out all three at once, and being a bard, you wouldn't think it would be that easy at lvl 7, but given a good weapon, it was a piece of cake
Are you sure ?

I once met an uber twinked wood elf warrior in Misty thicket, level 6 (was anon but conned black to me at that time), fighting a pack of 4 gobelins single handedly.
As I was giving a spell to pull one of these, unaware that this guy wanted them all, he yelled at me KSer !
He finally managed to kill them all but never admitted that I was just wanting to help and finally put me on his ignore list.
Stupid uber-twinked.

By the way, a normally equiped level 8 ranger (full patchwork/leather) would easily kill 3 scrawny gnolls (level 3 to 5) without help.

I wouldn't call it kill stealing. If they killed the primary gnoll you were attacking, when you didnt yell for help and you didnt get any exp off it, then yea thats kill stealing. But killing the other two, nah. Black burrow does get kinda crowded during the afternoons and evenings.

Oh, I was wondering, has anyone heard of Kill Hogging?
RE: Kill Stealing
# Apr 14 2001 at 10:06 AM Rating: Default
I like this thread. I've often wondered if jumping in and helping a fellow pc would be considered kill stealing or not. Most of the time when i see a pc gettin "gang banged" i watch
his health and try to judge when it would be impossible for him to win to jump in and help.
I thought that for him to ask for help in the middle of a battle is asking much for him ( He's
kinda got his hands full). Plus, if the pc is like myself i hate asking for help or running.
The trouble is alot of the time i wait to late to help and what i end up doing is cleaning up the mobs around the pc's corpse.

Now I have some clarity on the issue. From now on unless someone /yells No help from me.

Thanks

I wouldn't say so necessarily. A lot of times, especially when it's crowded people forget to ask or assume that more than one MOB means trouble. Especially if you would have a problem if it was happening to you.

It is sometimes tough to tell, you aren't always sure if they wanted 1 and got 3 or wanted 3. I a lot of times ask unless I notice them totally getting wailed on. Also with the way blackburrow is it is better if the monsters are killed quickly as if you are fighting to long more will keep piling on. So the 3 scrawny's turns into 5 or 6 shortly if not killed quickly. They don't tend to be to agressive if they don't see you fighting there kin, but when you are they seem to come out of the woodworks.

While there's certainly an argument that if you couldn't take on 2 scrawnys you shouldn't be down there I would certainly help someone with three of anything on them as my gut reaction would be that if you could handle 3 easily you would be attacking something harder, and it's often difficult to tell if there's an elite in there too .. what I would probably do is take out one.. and then check to see how you were doing... then take it from there

Ya, but at a higher level (what were u, about 16?), there isnt as much of a difference between blues and blacks as level 8, believe me. My friend told me that in the low 20's (yes, some hell levels I'll give you that) greens can kill you just as well as blacks. My chars in BB at level 7 usually went for multiple scrawnies or group up downstairs. They usually won.

Fought em with my 14 sk, conned even. Woah I was in for a surprise, got killed twice trying to kill the same one)(at full health and with harm touch too!) Druids and rangers would have an easier time, since they hit you very fast(3 hits for every my one hit Axe of Iron back) and up to 30 damage a hit! lots of hp too. So Meleers beware!
the Refugees are spellcasters and drop rts, they might use another weapon, but ive seen that they always drop RTS. Didnt see any difficulty since I was playing my 33 paly, so heh I couldnt tell how hard it would be for a peep around the refugees level

I just want to taunt you all (since none of my characters use it) that there is a safe spot in blackburrow, one that you won't find very easily and will make you go crazy trying to find =)
Just wanted to make you newbies think instead of mindlessly killing gnolls, Good luck on finding it, if u do u can message me in game on Rodcet Nife

Since someone asked for me to post it I will just edit this message and add it to here, go to this map to see exactly where it is...

Well if u look a little down and to the left of where it says "Lower Cavern" There is a spot where most races can go (except large ones), it is under the ramp in the corner. This is a exploit and I DON'T THINK YOU SHOULD USE IT AND I TAKE NO RESPONISIBITIY IF YOUR ACCOUNT GETS DELETED...If you use the bards lvl two song and stand in the correct place here u can kite about 3 gnolls without getting hurt at all (pretty good if u have a good book to read while they slowly die) Well please rate this well if you have any questions I will check back here every once in a while to see whats up and answer questions.

I was leveling up my sk in BB the other day when somebody shouted the familiar TRAIN! so I held close to qenos zone in case. It did come and leading the train was a splitpaw commander. He had a lariat or something. I am only lvl 7 so I didn'y hang around to see what he dropped. Any thoughts on him or knowledge of what he dropps would be appreciated.

he drops a gnoll hide lariat, 4/20 1hs, magic, effect of stun... it wasn't fun being on the receiving end, but when I left him he didn't need it anymore. :) Don't know what level he was, found him standing over a pile of bodies with half his life bar gone, he agro'd me... at 13th lvl it cost me most of my hp to finnish him... nice lariat tho, good off-hand magic weapon...

at lvl 7 you better keep a watch for the zone if splitpaw comes, he has a train of elite gurds with him that would beat a lvl 7 down in about 3 seconds.i have seen well equipped lvl 13 ,14, and 15 rangers, warriors, and SK's get beat down to the ground by Splitpaw and a good train of Elite.

in BB, when you hear TRAIN TO ZONE, it means RUN,not walk, to the zone, fight there if you want but if it gets too ugly you can always bug out the zone.

Or, make a heroic last stand at the bridge, with a few friends and see if by some miracle you can beat them all down. We have done it a few times but then again, if i had a copper piece for every CR i have done to BB i would be rolling in plat by now.

i am a lvl 13 mage and i was helping this guy out because he was taking a guard and a elite ganged up so when i almost killedd the elite a splitpaw came up and attacked me. i hit him to half life with my pet and DD's but ran out of life my pet died so i asked for halp and one really strong guy hit the splitpaw with a strong spell and i beat it up with a staff(it only took on hit). I looted a lariat and offered it to the guy who saved me but he gave it back. I didnt have time to con it but what lvl is it?

He is about about 15 or so (at least he conned even to my bard).

I had him down to half health when I had to run :(

The lariat will proc for him about one in 7 hits.. it won't proc for you until 25 I think I have heard (It will not proc for a 19th warrior friend).

It is a fast 1hs though and good to train with.

The whip is 3/20 and gives +3 ac (or maybe 2) the stun kicks in at 25 and by then its not all that good (I say that and still have one in my pack as a 27 th rogue). However the commander is around 14 to 18 more often in the low range. If he is carrying the whip its actually a bit of a blessing, I found he seemed to hit for less damage....
Commander Room

Can anyone tell me how many Commanders and/or Elites spawn in the little Commander Room? I'm not familiar with that part of Blackburrow, but I will most likely be camping there or near there with my Druid friend, and wanted a better idea of what we'd be facing.
RE: Commander Room

Small Commander room, behind the barrels to the left off the bridge spawns one commander, elite guard, or occasionally Refugee Splitpaw at a time, but, there are always 4 regular gnolls who spawn with him, hit the heavyweight FIRST and deal with the others afterwards. This is a good place to level not too dangerous and trains mostly dont come there(sometimes they do, but rare) or, have some one tell you where the elite ledge is, they spawn 2 at a time there and a group of 3 good lvl 10 's can handle it if they work well as a team, great exp points and good loot too.

a lvl 18 warrior named Devesatator and my young lvl 6 rogue just had the pleasure of molesting this fine rare spawn. Sandly he didnt drop anything at all but from what I've heard ::

Tranixx drops a quest item needed for a peice of the Mistwalker-type sword quest...you are given this quest once you get the medal of honor for the gnoll gnasher head quest..

To get him to spawn it is rumored that you must slay the giant plague rat and the Grizzly and the whole bloody elite room. I did not seee the bear or the rat before or during Tranixx appearance...and thge elite room had been camped all night

Though he runs about screaming hisd oath to bertoxxolous...necros and clerics (human necro. gnome cleric) of this religion are still kos to him..though the necro had been hunting in BB for a bit so his faction may have been \screwed up

He would no answer any hails from my barb rouge but he didnt attack me either..made quick work of that necro enough times though hehe

The gnoll Brewer spawned RIGHT before he did..and after he followed the brewers train to the zone he just ran back and forth from the Qhills zone to the everforst zone killing any newbie (save me for reasons I cant understand) in his way. He did con pissed at me though every time I took a swipe at him he ran off..stranger even was the consistancy my lvl 6 rogue hit this beastie for good dmg

Here's a thought:

In travelling to Qeynos, I've noticed another loudmouthed gnoll named Fippy darkpaw running around just outside the gates to the city. Could it be killing him causes his dad (Tranixx) to spawn?

Fippy is totally unrelated to the spawning of Tranixx

I saw Flippy when i first went to Qeynos at lvl 5 but now that i am lvl 13 i have seen a Darkpaw called Djer and something like NIxx. I didnt con them because they ran in to the gur=ards but are they knew because all the time i have spent in Qeynos only my lvl 13 saw it while when i first came i could never see him.

Tranixx spawns at the wheelbarrow in the cave to the left as you're coming out of the QH zone entrance. His placeholders include bears (brown or grizzly), the giant plague rat, and pretty much any gnoll from scrawny through guardsman.

One easy way to tell if a placeholder is wondering around is that this is the only spawn that wanders in and out of the cave and the QH zone area. He just keeps circling the top level until an attack (his or yours ;-). He's the toughest gnoll in the zone aside from the gnoll high shaman (who may be lower level than Tranixx, but deals out more damage).

I've killed Tranixx a few times, and never looted anything interesting, though it is satisfying to shut him up. :-)
