The Plane of Storms is a land of enormous forests, great mountains, scoured deserts, and stormy lakes. The realm is the manifestation of the will of Karana, the Rainkeeper, who resides in his Bastion of Thunder atop Mount Grenidor, which sits in the middle of a vast expanse of open wilderness. Jagged and impassable ridges extend from Mount Grenidor, dividing the land into three areas. Tribes of Storm Giants call this land home.

To one side of Grenidor is Krendic, the Desert of Chaos. It is a sea of hard, dark brown stone polished smooth by wind-blown sand. To another side is Renidar, the Forest of Tears. Massive trees grow here and travel is made via their huge branches. Above and below, the trees seem to extend indefinitely, disappearing into a haze of fog.

Then there are the plains. Large rivers flow down the mountain and across the plains to empty into a large lake along the southwest border. Shipwrecks can be seen on the southern shore. Some smaller lakes have formed where water has collected on its journey to the southwest.

Level 55 is required to enter the zone without a key on the live servers.

You enter this zone at the graveyard, which is a bunch of bodies washed up on the beach in a forested area with several small rivers. The trees and animals here are not KOS. If you follow along the beach you'll come to a sort of castle filled with giants. Giants are KOS and see invis. Along the north edge of the zone are four tunnels. There are other tunnels that connect the other areas to eachother, but you can find that out when you explore.

The first tunnel is just a few feet from the zonein and is filled with stranded travellers. It's a very long tunnel... in the last cave is the zoneout, a merchant, and several quest types. The people are indifferent at first but do have faction. Since they guard the only exit, and the key quest, you really don't want to kill them.

The second tunnel is underwater and leads to a dead forested area near a large cliff. The trees are dubious but the animals here are KOS (but don't see invisible). There's a different race of giants that live in a fort here (KOS and see invis). Just to your left you'll see a treehouse perched over a cliff. You can walk the branches to get to the treehouse, but the demon-bees inside (apparently called krovians) are aggressive and see invis. I've never jumped down the cliff, but I suspect it leads to the same place as the third tunnel. There's a mysterious NPC in the far corner of this section, you'll want to go have a chat with him.

The third tunnel is just a few feet past the second one. It leads to a central area with a big spinning whirlwind and lots of frogs sitting around tidepools. The frogs are KOS but don't see invisible. There's a door here, you'll need a key to go through it.

The fourth tunnel leads to a desert area. The animals here are not KOS and there's a third race of giants whose camp is a tent (KOS and see invisible). No traps, but giants like to stand behind hills and large rocks so watch where you're going.

This plane is basically separated in to three distinct roughly triangular areas and a center area.
Zonein is southeast corner of the southern area. A few steps northeast from the zone in is a tunnel entrance which leads
through four caves to a single tree, which is the zoneout. In the last cave resides Askr the Lost, the (drunken) leader of all those Norrathian people who seem to be stranded on this plane.
According to the stories of those people they came here by means of a large storm. Now we finally know where the Bermuda Triangle leads to ;)
Also Bittrik the Unkempt has taken home inside the cave. He knows a lot of the history of the Plane of Storms.
Askr's people are all indifferent to a Tunarian druid.

The animal and plant life in this area is dubiously... and I felt a bit offended that the bears where not amiably... but well they belong to Karana and he
was probably pissed that I stopped his rain too often ;)

At least the treant like creatures doesn't seem to give faction hits, but are social. Not sure about the others. But everything I tried could be snared and rooted.
But even the yard trash here hits for 800, give or take.

If you turn north and west from the zonein you fill finally reach an underwater tunnel which leads to the northern area. This area is
inhabitated with agressive frogs (the frogs in the first area are non kos). There is also a giant city in this area with one of the
three different type of giants who inhabitate this plane. A nice 35/35 2HS AC25 weapon with several other stats dropped here.
All giants drop the obligatory giant head and other stuff, probably quest related. Didn't found a npc to turn in heads yet.

There is also a tree city like Kelethin in this area, which is inhabitate by ... well ... something that would be the result if you cross
a bixie, an ogre and an aviak. Those bees are agressive, too

Frogs give negative faction on Lost Kingdom of Lok, Giants 2 negative giant faction hit and a positive hit for Askr and his people, while
the bees give only negative faction for their own kind.

Another tunnel leads to a desertous area in the west which is inhabitated by nonagressive scorpions, rockfiends, cactoren and other usual desert stuff.
There is another giant city here.

Back to the first area leads another tunnel, which ends in front of the 3rd giant city. At least three named giants live there, one of them not targetable.

In the center area, which is accessible through tunnels from each outer area, there are more agressive frogs and a large stationary twister like storm.
In a building nearby is the portal to the next plane. Of course you need some key.

Only giants seem to be able to see through invis, frogs can't. Didn't check the bees.

That is in fact correct. If you hail Mauvin in the prison in Plane of Justice, he'll ask you to take evidence of his innocence to the Tribunal. Once you find the Tribunal, there are six different trials you can complete. You can only do it with a single group. I am told that the trial of execution is the most popular, because it's the easiest of the six. Anyway, after you complete the trial, take whatever you get from it back to the Tribunal, they'll tell you they'll agree to hear Mauvin's case. Go back to Mauvin and talk to him, he'll tell you to talk to Karana and Mithaniel Marr... end result of this quest is you can now enter the Plane of Storms (as well as the Plane of Valor.) Plane of Storms entrance is on Plane of Tranquility... near the windmill (entrance to Plane of Innovation) you'll see a little island a little ways into the ocean, on the island there's a rock with a picture of lightning on it, that's the enterance to Plane of Storms.

Sorry if I didn't make it clear. The zone is found in the Plane of Tranquility near to the Windmill zone to Plane of Innovation (PoI).

What to expect
# Oct 27 2002 at 8:18 AM Rating: Good
The access to the zone is a small mountain surrounded by water. This can by found by entering a tunnel near the PoI windmill.

The zone itself is awesome. Think Plane of Growth and your not far off. Several hidden sections exist in the zone which promise excellent small raid potential.

The majority of the wildlife is non-agro in the main part of the zone, however they are social. Giants also play a big part in the zone, level 60 and above.

Several named mobs wander around, lvl 65 or above.

58 Ranger here...note on aggro

Was in zone last night june 2005, and during raid between kills near ocean giants that were proccing the feign death smackdown...

I drew aggro from the non agressive forest mobs ...

first to smack was the wandering lotus like things...
then the bear,
then a snake...they sent out thesocial call...hey lets kill this idiot ranger who is dressed like a wolf...

what was i thinking? wanter the extra attackrating that stacks from greater wolf form for my bow dps...probably not a good idea unless you are near to the lake and give the forest critters plenty of room,

and if you are a ranger this fight with the giants would be a good one to use magic resist from your chanter, and or or resistant discipline or infusion of the faithful all as needed...
otherwise the named will summon you and kill you...
